Why do People think its okay to ruin Santa for kids? Update - p. 21, post 307

Been there and done that. Well I have one more to go. And my older 2 know without a doubt that they had not better utter one word about Santa. They actually do go on about him for the younger one.

And really so what if it is for the parents. Sorry but until someone else carries, (or adopts) my child for 9 months, goes through countless hours of painful labor, multiple hours of pushing, mid night feedings and diaper changing, paying for, taking care of, feeding, clothing, sending to college, NO ONE, can tell my kids about Santa, and no one will tell me how to raise my child in this area. What other want to do is fine, but until the above is completed my someone else, Stay the heck out.

I don't care really what others tell their kids, but I know parents that actually have instructed thier child to educate their friends about Santa not being real, and we are talking about kids as young as 6. That is unacceptable, just as what this teacher did, it isn't her business and last time I checked believing in Santa wasn't hurting a child and it isn't illegal.

Ugh...here we go...:charac2:

All I'm saying is enjoy it while you can, and when it's over just move on.

Because when you tell lies, that makes you a liar.

I'll make sure that I conclude every "tall tale" or fairy tale story I tell my 4 year old with a disclaimer, that the preceding characters aren't real, lest she consider me a liar later in life. Pardon me while I :rotfl: at that notion.

OMG, it is taking everything I have really not to blast you for that little avatar. My point is that I am the parent, no one else. Until something is illegal or dangerous, some Sunday school teacher or anyone else doesn't have the right to tell my kid about Santa. Luckily for me that didn't happen. And for what it is wroth, I really can't wait until the youngest is over it. I am sure this year will be the last. But I am still out raged that a teacher told these kids about Santa, it isn't her place. so see I have moved one, and If I had a giant foot avator, I would sen your little man to the moon.

All of this talk about believing in myths is interesting particularly since this forum is part of a website that pushes a vacation destination that it all about fantasy.

Kids have been into fantasy for a very long time and parents simply play along. I agree that it's not up to a teacher to tell kids the "truth" when it comes to a completely unrelated subject. I wouldn't want the teacher fired but she should definitely be told to cut it out.

Here's what I want to know though, what do you celebrate at Christmas?
At Easter?
Maybe you truly don't participate in any myths. Maybe your Holidays are all about real and tangible things. No Christmas trees, no stockings, no stories of long ago in a little town. And that's fine of course!
What I suspect though is that this is not the case.

Because when you tell lies, that makes you a liar.

And you've never lied in front of your kids? Never called out sick when you weren't, never told someone you were busy when you weren't, never told them you didn't do drugs, drink, lie to your parents, cheat on a test etc. when growing up when you know you had, never let them see you lie to your spouse about something mundane... all I can say is: thou doth protest too loudly.

The whole idea of being a "liar" in this situation is so unbelievably foreign to me. I guess I've been lying to my kids all along.

"Wow! You hit that ball so good!" (the ball actually went 2 inches in the wrong direction.

"What a wonderful lizard you drew!" (it's really just a bunch of squiggles).

"Look out! I'm casting <insert Harry Potter spell here> at you with my wand!" (It's just a stick, and nothing is really coming out of it).

Never realized how poorly I was parenting with all of my lies. :confused3

You can thank me later.

I get it. I do. It's REALLY sad to see your kids crushed or lose a bit of the
"childhood".

Santa isn't the hill I'd choose to die on. My mom didn't go all pitchfork and torches on the teenager at my bus stop who told us there was no Santa. She just figured we find out eventually. It's only my opinion...It's JUST Santa.

Do I think the teacher was a big old Grinch? Abso-friggin-lutely! But I wouldn't ask him to be fired for it. For the record, I think anyone who ruins Santa for little kids is total joyless miser who deserves a lump o'coal.

And if you'd like to blast me for whatever, have at it.

Naw I won't, unless you want me to send you to the moon. lol I seem to remember that this isn't your favorite holiday, well let me rephrase that, you aren't getting to spend it the way you want. Which I totally understand. Or do I have you mixed up with someone else.

I like Christmas. :confused3 I'd like it even more if Santa were real!

Last Christmas sucked quite a bit though.

There is a slight difference, though, as I see it. The kid at the bus stop can be easily written off as some dim-witted twit or bully who enjoys torturing the younger kids.

In the OP's case, this teacher was someone who the kids see as an authority figure. It would be a lot tougher to "undo."

Sorry, I didn't post that correctly, I actually meant Thnaksgiving, I thought you had said somewhere that this wasn't going to be a great one. If that was the case, I can offer you a round trip ticket to the moon, so yhou won't have to deal with it.:goodvibes

Oh yeah. Thanksgiving this year (like those in the past) is gonna be sucktacular. The moon wouldn't quite do it though...perhaps a round trip ticket to WDW? That'd fix the crappy holiday for sure!
