Why do people still use hankies?

Nice emoticon!

I have no issues with folks who use hankies to wipe an eye or catch a runaway sneeze or carry hot dishes.

But...I've seen people pull out a used one...and I've been unfortunate enough to see the mess from previous blows. *insert retching emoticon* I work with a couple people who use them.

Remember that scene from All of Me with Lily Tomlin? She had a box of hankies and kept using them like disposable tissues. I'm cool with that.

I think it is an old fashioned concept that has come and gone....but some people just cannot adapt themselves to using tissues...

The first thing I did 36 years ago when I married my husband and his Mom sent him to me with all these laundered hankies was to throw them away and tell him no way was I washing those in my washing machine and to use tissues as it is more sanitary....we still laugh over it.

My ex-BF used to use and carry a hankie everywhere he went.

I was like 'hello? You're 18 year old guy, not a 80 year old woman, that is seriously not cool'!

Just one of many reasons (most of which involved him acting like an old woman) that we are no longer together.......

Maybe they want a hankie that dances.....

so they put a little boogie in it :rotfl:

I don't know why people still use handkerchieves. It is just more sanitary to use tissues.

My DH uses them and he is only 40. Just wondering what if you use tissues and have no place to throw them away at the time? What do you do with them?

As long as they are not going into my washing machine, he can stuff them in his pockets until he can find a place to throw them away.....that is all I care about....not in my washing machine..

My mother in law used to boil them on the stove.. now I almost got sick thinking about that.. ;) :)
