Why do people like Soarin' so much?

I think its OK, but that it doesn't reach its full potential at all. I really dont like the fact that they don't even try to transition you from one screen to the next. They should have it be consistent, not one minute your in the wilderness and all of a sudden the screen changes and your over water. They should have it go up in the clouds each time and come back down and you see a new area. Also, the only thing I smelled was oranges, so I don't think that the smell-o-vision was working anywhere near as well as it works on the 3-D rides.

I think with some tweaking with the video and better smells, it could be an awesome attraction.

I like it as it is, maybe it wasn't working properly when you were there. I loved the pine scent when we were there last summer, the golfing scene and the beach waves were awesome, imo.

Your points are all true, but it still is an amazing ride. Now, if they changed to include your suggestions - it would be over the top!

I loved Soarin, and I'm one of those people who is chicken to ride anything potentially fast. The first time I rode it, as soon as it started I was scared. Then I heard that pretty music and the sights. Wow. I loved it. I had to go right back and get a fast pass to ride again. I was watching a fuzzy looking soarin video on You Tube. It makes me want to ride it again.

I love Soarin'....it's just so relaxing.....it's one of my faves!!!!

I did hear that they were changing the images to visit all Disney parks around the globe!

Awesome ride, so real that's what makes it so great you really feel like you are flying over all that stuff, but your suggestions would make it even better. Everyone that has gone down to Disney we tell make sure you ride Soaring and everyone comes back telling us how much they loved it!!!

For me it's the whole package that makes the ride. The fabulous music (which I listen to at work sometimes), the beautiful views on the huge screen that surrounds me, the smells and the "wind" over my head and the finale with Disney and fireworks. It's just a full sensory experience.

I hope that the new movie that will someday come to Florida will be equally as impressive and fixes the small complaints most people have (such as the scene transitions.)

Because they can. It's nature of of the attractions of WDW. What some folks love, others will not care for.

To me Soarin is like Mickey's Philharmagic. You feel like your flying, you smell awesome scents and you get a huge smile on your face. It's the magic of a few minutes that Disney transports me into pure magic. I definately smell pine and orange big time on Soarin. From the moment you are transcended into the clouds I'm smiling from ear to ear.

Also don't forget to look for the hidden Mickey's. The golf ball has a mickey head on it, there is a hidden Mickey in the fireworks and then we try to count as many Mickey's on Main Street at Disneyland as possible. There are at least 3, maybe more on mainstreet. These are the full costumed kind!

I love it! Sorry to hear you didn't like it.

it's so great because it is new and fun.

it sounds like you have missed your calling as an imagineer. that's too bad for us, as you are more creative than the team of experts hired by disney.

Growing up in CA (from the Central Coast to the Napa Valley) I just personally related to it, as I recognized so many of the places it 'took' you. My daughter hated it though. Thought it was scarier than the RnRC and ToT combined! I loved feeling weightless up in the sky... That's the great thing about Disney. They may not have all the 'thrill' rides, but they do have something for everyone!

Why? Because he said there should be more smells and should be a scene transition? I mean it as no offense to the OP, but there's a LOT more creativity needed than just a couple of easy ideas that really any Joe off the street could come up with.

Anyway, back to the original question...
I do enjoy Soarin'. I did notice the kind of jarring scene jumps...didn't flow as well as it could have, but clearly it hasn't stopped it from being an extremely popular ride. When I went, we didn't get to smell anything. It was evening EMH and on its last few rides for the night...so I'm wondering if that aspect was "shut off" for the rest of the time being. It was disappointing as I heard a lot about being able to smell things. Oh well...must give it another shot. :teeth:

I love that ride... my daughter (5) at the time of first ride, adores it and she can't wait to go back... it's just wonderful and relaxing... just a great break from the busy parks... I feel refresh when I get off the ride and ready to attack the parks ha! ha! :thumbsup2

yeah i though soarin was ok it wasnt like the best ride in disney but it was good. there are some things they could do to improve it. i think they should also make the seat move more. i thought it barely moved but hey thats just me.

I couldn't agree more Melanie. Both Soarin' and Philharmagic have me grinning from ear to ear :sunny:

Tribus121'wife: When my honey and I were in California a year ago February, we had a chance to ride Soarin there. I really loved that ride. I felt like I was free. I love rides that makes me feel free.

I'm gessing they can't have too many smells as the smell stays longer than the scene itself. The 3D movies don't have more smells, do they? It's tough to be a bug just has the stink bug, Philarmagic the pie, HISTA nothing. Plus I think they have to spray the smells in the room in Soarin', it's not in the seat in front of you like with the others.

And if they would get you up into the clouds to combine scenes, you would see so many clouds it would be annoying.

I love it just the way it is and hoping to see more movies in the other parks. The original version should stay in DCA.

We love Soarin and try and go on it at least twice each time at EPCOT. Its a very fun ride with a very good sound track...smjj

The cool thing about Soarin is the potential it has. This ride can change every few years for relatively little expense since all that has to change is the film and the smells! I've heard rumors of Soarin Florida-flying over the state and showing all the places WDW visitors don't go, Soarin Disney-visiting all the Disney theme parks around the world, Soarin US-the national landmarks like the Grand Canyon and Soarin World-hitting the 7 wonders. Every time they change, it's a new way to get folks into EPCOT.
