You are waiting in line to pay for your purchases at a department store... The line is long and there is 1 cashier working, maybe 2, then another cashier opens another register and says, "I'll take the next customer in line". As the next customer walks toward the register that just opened, it happens!!!! The last person in line runs over and cuts you off.

I have had this happen to me two times since last week, and it happened today to another lady while I was paying for my purchases at TJMaxx. I ignore a lot of things, but this blatant disregard for others just burns me up. Usually, women are the ones doing this. Last week, one older lady (last customer in line) told the cashier that the next customer (me) wasn't paying attention, so she decided to go ahead of me. I told her in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear, that I was paying attention and was walking over to the register, but that she was just rude and disrespectful of the customers ahead of her. She wouldn't look me in the eye and pretended not to hear.

I think I should finish my Christmas shopping online. ::yes::

Drives me nuts too but sadly, this happens all the time

Drives me nuts too. I was standing in line at Harris Teeter (express lane) a few weeks ago. A man walks up behind me and he has his hands full. Since I had one item, I decided to be nice and let him put his purchase on the counter (no belt). He then started to hand his discount card to the cashier and cut in front of me. In a loud voice, I said "excuse me". He then said oh I didn't realize that you were in line.

Where I used to work we were supposed to go up to the next customer in line and take them over to the newly opened register. I did it all of the time because I hate line cutters!

I like that. ::yes:: The only store that has ever done that for me is Ann Taylor. ::yes::

had this hapen to me today at wal mart,, i had several tubes of caulking in my hand s and the woman at the service desk called me by name and said i'll get you over here,, by the time i couldtrun and take the three strides from the checkout to the desk,,, this young couple with a buggy full of stuff had already started placing items onthe counter,, my friend made them wait till she had checkled me out,, then told them they had to go over and go through the regular checker because her theft device scanner was out of oprder and wouldnt clear some of the items they had...:) i think she sent them around mainly becausee they were rude about her checking me first:)

This is the main reason I stopped shopping at Kohls. I have always been a gold card member until this year, but this happened once too often that I decided they really didn't need my business that much. I even told the manager once that most stores let the next person in line check out next not the last, but he just looked at me like I was crazy.

I had this happen at the grocery store a couple of years ago, but with a twist - the clerk/checker looked opened up her till while looking at me and calling me over there. A woman from behind me started to barge ahead of me, but the clerk STOPPED her and said "I'm sorry, but this lady was ahead of you".

I really liked that :)

Bad form.

It does make it difficult not to trip them;) or make an *** of yourself pointing out it isn't fair.::yes:: Needless to say it bugs the crap out of me!

If this happens while I'm in line (but not the next) I go ahead and move to the opened register but I hold the spot for the person who was next in line. I've cut a few skippers out this way. Most of the time if I have lots of things and the express lanes aren't open I let people in front of me who have only a few things to check out. Most people are so appreciative of that. I know I am when I'm in that situation. It's a great way to practice patience. Sometimes I get the favor returned too.

I actually stopped someone from doing that to me the other day in the grocery store. My DD had just come from the doctors with double pneumonia and we needed to stop and get some more juice. I was waiting in a LONG line(the only one open) with 2 bottles of juice and the people in front of me all had carts FULL. I had waited for 5 minutes and there was an older man behind me with a few items that walked up just as the 8 items or less line opened. He jumped right over. I was flabbergasted...my DD was standing there in her jammies looking horrible and he decided he was next. I said in a very loud voice...EXCUSE ME I DO BELIEVE I AM NEXT!...he actually looked at me with derision and said..."Oh I suppose you want special treatment because you are a woman?" I was so taken aback, but I said no I dont want special treatment but it would be nice to see some people with common courtesy for once. He actually stood there arguing with me saying he would be sure to remember next time unless it happened to be me. My poor dd just looked at me and said mama why was that man so mean??? The other customers just looked at the man like he was from another planet.

Sometimes we check out at the service desk if there are only a couple lanes open and we have 1 or 2 items that don't need to be weighed.

This happened to me about a year ago. I was stunned when this older woman just about shoved me out of line to get ahead of me. (I was just walking to the next line as there weren't a lot of people in line.) I usually bite my tongue and try not to make a scene, but this woman just got the best of me. I looked at her and said, "You're Rude! (I surprised myself by saying somethingShe looked at me and said, "Excuse me?" I again said, "You're Rude!
Then her adult daughter, and the child they had both been yelling at because he was misbehaved,j oined her in line.
The older woman quickly switched from English to Portuguese to talk about me. I knew this because she used the word rude in her sentence. I laughed to myself I very badly wanted to continue and say I know you're talking about me so just say it in English, but I figured it would just be best to keep my mouth shut.I already made my point.

Checking out at customer service wasnt an option for me as the person who opened up the second line was the person who HAD been in customer service. This is a VERY small grocery store and not one I regularly use and would not have been using it if it hadnt been the easiest one to get to. I just wanted to get DD home and back into bed. Normally I would have kept my mouth shut and just rolled my eyes, but I was exhausted after being up all night with DD and was practically holding her up as she was so tired and weak. The man was just rude and I am tired of dealing with rude people.
