Why do people dig up threads that have been dead for a looooong time?

I don't even know how to go about that. Go back 2 years of the Dis and click on something? Do a search for it? Or do they have it bookmarked for 2 years from the last post? Personally, I don't go back more than 3 pages, and that's when I am really bored. I mean, the discussion is long over, why bring it back to life?

And for my actual reply, I feel the same way. I don't really care but I can't help but go urghhhh...

Especially at the threads that we're annoying or beaten to a pulp when they were a hot topic.

Many times when you are reading a recent thread there are suggestions of other threads with some of the same keywords which is listed at the bottom of the page. I think that people often click on those and then reply to one of them, not realizing that the thread is old.

Yes, I think it's old posters from the Great Banning who've returned as newbies, here to start up trouble. It's funny how these "newbies" just happen to find old controversial threads to bump.

I actually think it's pathetic how these people still haven't found something productive to do with themselves, instead.

I agree, but I have noticed a few posters that have been around awhile that seem to get bored and dig up threads for seemingly no reason. I don't care until I pull the dang thing up and get all excited about the OP, go ahead and post, then realize I am responding to a 2 year old post that was dug up an hour ago!

It does get annoying--and yet, it makes me laugh when I'll read a post that I agree with 100% and I think, "Wow, that woman must be my twin." And then I realize I'm reading a thread I posted a reply on five years ago.
