We plan on renting a studio DVC - has a microwave and small refrigerator.

We could take ME and use garden grocer
OR
Take a car service with a food store stop?

Which would be less expensive?

We are family of 4 people.
Thank you

I seriously doubt that Garden Grocers delivery fee is as high as the cost of a car service from MCO to your resort. I think a town car will run about $75 one way. Not including tip.

And if you don't like Garden Grocer's prices, We Go Shop will shop at any one store you specify.

Some of the town car companies only do a grocery stop if you book a RT.

What sorts of things will you be getting? Have you stayed in a studio before? The fridge IS small and the freezer section is tiny. Not a lot can go into it! When we have a studio we go to the store every other day if we're eating much in the room, so we have to have a car.

I don't know, I just can't go to Disney and be stuck on site without a car. I dislike their long waits for buses, especially trying to back from a park. With the low cost of renting using codes and watching for rate drops its never cost more than $120-$160. We've taken ME and dh or ss would pick up the rental car and make a food stop for water, drinks, breakfast items on the way.

But, as the family grew and the Disney hotel even Value cost have risen, we are spoiled staying off site. I've stayed a few places but love the three rooms three baths at Windsor Hills. Having our own pool and washer dryer was amazing.
I've really severed the cord of cramping up in one room and Disney transportation waits.

I do Magical Express (because it's Free!) and order snacks delivered to the room via Amazon Prime Pantry ($5 flat shipping). I don't bother with a car, because there's nothing in Orlando besides Disney that is worth seeing.

That sounds like a great idea! I may have to do that!

I do Prime Pantry most of the time when I travel! Disney dropped the box off right in the room for me while we were out in the park! Just keep in mind the shipping times are longer for Pantry than normal Prime shipping (typically 4-6 days), so make sure you order early enough!

Let's see...

There was the driver that was an hour late.
There was the driver that cursed like a sailor and drove like a maniac all the way from Disney to the Port. (When called, the agency said "he's one of our best")
There was the driver I saw screaming at people in the HESS to "hurry up and pay because I have 2 PM pickup", looked at my watch it was 2:10 when he stopped for gas...

Why would I risk my vacation to a car service in Orlando? I gave them 2 tries (see above) Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me... Not going for the 3 strikes LOL!

I generally rent a car so I am not trapped eating Disney's overpriced subpar food. (It's not the pricing I mind as much as the fact that every year it seems quality gets worse!)

I've had just one bad experience with a car service.....when we arrived at MCO, no driver waiting for us at baggage claim. We got our bags (15 mins later), dh went looking for our driver. He was found, outside, smoking! Okay....not so great. He then walked us to the car, while we lugged the bags. Same thing happened on our return to MCO....the driver was nowhere to be found. I called the office, they said he had left long ago. Well, we finally say him, way down the driveway, smoking...again. His tip was greatly reduced on the return trip.
I can't remember if it was this same trip but we did have one driver who refused to make a grocery stop. It was Thanksgiving Day, about 11am. I had asked, repeatedly, when booking, if we would be able to make a stop since it was Thanksgiving. Not an issue...the stores are open until noon, and convenience stores are open all day. But, the driver refused, saying that no stores would be open. I asked for a convenience store stop then, nope, none open. I was really angry...told him what the office had told me. He told me that they had given me incorrect info! Again, tip was less than it would have been....and the company was contacted!!
Other than those two times, I've had very good service...even when we were rear-ended at a toll booth!! I don't usually use a rental car, but do use Garden Grocer for groceries.

Absolutely! Use the free DME service and get groceries from Garden Grocer or We Go Shop.
