There are so many problems with this statement that I don't know where to start.
Anyway, I give up.

Easy way out when you you don't have a valid rebuttal?
The carnival magic is 2000(for our time frame) less for a ocean view suite vs a the deluxe family stateroom with verandah on the Fantasy. Both rooms are close to the same size. The Magic suite is probably 40 square feet larger. One leaves out of Galveston, and one leaves out of cape canaveral. They are both brand new ships. On cruise critic the reviews are about equal when comparing it to the Dream. 2000 can buy a lot soda. If people are cruising Disney for the free soda. All I can say is that is some expensive soda.
LOL - You just don't get it, but if it makes you happy I will go for it. Before I do, can you tell me where you got your "common business sense"? Did you attend business classes at LSU?
I'm an LSU sports fan. LSU is too much of a party school, but Loyola isn't.
Where'd you get yours?
So you are saying you took business classes at Loyola? I doubt that. If you must know, I have an accounting degree from Kansas State where I took numerous business courses.
Now, that's a sensical rebuttal. You've changed my mind.
Anyway, I give up. Logic isn't a popular viewpoint in this thread.
I would get banned if I told you what I honestly thought of your "common business sense"!
Can't we all just get along?I would get banned if I told you what I honestly thought of your "common business sense"!
Sometimes in order to fill a ship, a cruise line will drop prices so much that they barely break even. They hope to recoup their expenses and then some by the money they take in from the casino, bars, shops, spa, alternative restaurants, shore excursions, etc. That is similar to a grocery store that lures you in with the "loss leader" items that are on sale - hoping that you'll also buy other items that aren't on sale.
So - not only does Carnival NOT build the price of the non-perishable soda can that you didn't buy into their cruise fare, but sometimes they make NO money on their base cruise prices until people purchase the extras.
My apologies. I am not sure how I left you with the impression that free soda is high on the priority list when choosing who I cruise with. Quite the contrary. It does not even make the list when considering our next cruise. When we took our last Carnival cruise, I did not even buy the soda card and used it as an excuse to stay away from it for a few days.
You are right, 2000 does buy a lot of soda, but for me, 2000 also buys a better cruise experience. That is what matters most to me personally.

Well then how is disney 2000 dollars better. This thread has turned into soda wars. I am getting a larger stateroom, and the play area and pool look better than what was on the Dream. Pleas don't telll me disney has the best food of any cruise line because I will never go on another cruise again. We really enjoyed the Dream, but now that I have started shopping around I am shocked at the deals I can get on other lines.
The OP asked why Disney cost more than other cruise lines....and I think that asked for fairly simple responses....nothing like what's happened on here, with huge debates and nasty remarks.
The fact is that Disney IS more expensive, in most cases.
Of course, you'll find times when it's less expensive, but for the most part, it isn't.
Some people are willing to pay extra for Disney, and some people aren't.
Some people will have great experiences on Disney and won't want to try other cruise lines.
Some people will have great experiences on Disney (like me) but will still want to try other cruise lines, for a variety of reasons.
Some people will have bad experiences on Disney....**GASP**!!! Yes, it CAN happen. They may or may not want to try Disney again.
LUCKILY, THERE IS A PRODUCT OUT THERE FOR EVERYONE.
THERE IS NO POINT IN DEBATING WHICH ONE EACH OF US FEELS IS BETTER.....people are far too different for anyone to ever come around to another person's thinking, once their minds are made up.
You didn't think the Dream was worth the extra money. A lot of guests do. I don't think you will find anyone who can give you an answer that will make you think you were missing something and that's why you'd rather take a cheaper cruise.
If you'd just like to take issue with Disney's prices, then okay. A lot of folks have issues with Disney's prices.
