Why do companies keep theme park tickets so long before sending them out?

Can someone explain to me why so many sites do not send out theme park tickets when you purchase them?

If I buy something, I want it asap, not two weeks before I go on holiday. I'm a big boy, I can look after them.

The Orlando Flexi-ticket for example. No expiry date, if I buy them, just send them out to me NOW. What does it matter when I am going on holiday?

Do anyone know a site which sends park tickets (not vouchers) out when they are ordered?

If not, can I just say I am going on hoilday in August, rather than the actual time, November??

I know that TicketMania send the tickets out straight away, and send actual tickets opposed to vouchers. I believe Undercover Tourist do as well.

I have read on here before that people have out their holiday date as earlier than when they are actually travelling, so that they receive tickets faster. I don't think this would cause any problems 9 times out of 10, but make sure there is no way the tickets can expire or anything. :)

The main reason is - money.

They take your money when you order and pay, but they don't actually purchase the tickets until shortly before you go and probably get a further 30 days to pay against invoice. All this time the money is either earning interest for them and/or easing their cashflow.

I think you are right. Its cash flow. I understand that most of the tickets have to be paid for upfront and the profit margin is fairly small for the main parks.
Hence they will leave it as late as they dare in some cases.

they can also buy in bulk knowing how many they have to buy rather than haveing some left on there ahnds

As long as my tix turn up I don't mind - at least you don't have to worry about them being lost or stolen or your house going up in flames :0( Plus me? I'd probably mislay them :0)

I ordered flex tickets and kennedy space tickets on sunday night last week from Orlando ticket deals, and they were in my hands by the end of the week. We're going Sept 13 and I did tell them the correct date. The flex tickets don't appear to have an expiry date on but KSC tickets expire at the end of the year.

I used them for all our tickets last year and have had no problem with them.
There's no CC charge or delivery charge either.

I work in a travel agents and always tell the ticket people that my clients are travelling a week before they actually are just so that we get them in plenty of time.

I don't think there's any point in getting them months in advance as a lot of people would misplace them, which is what happens with other documents that people get in advance (including scheduled air tickets!)

There's not too much harm in telling them a completely different date depending on the type of ticket you are buying as some tickets are only valid for departures up to a certain date.

so do park-tickets.com usually get tickets within a week or two of order reguardless of when you travel :jumping1:

We booked our park tickets last year through themeparkland six months before depature. We told them our correct departure date and they said they would send the tickets about 10 days before.

But then two months before departure date themeparkland went bust and we had severe problems getting Barclaycard to reimburse us.

We then searched every site which stated that they would deliver within 8 days and used Orlando Ticket Deals. We received the actual tickets (not vouchers) within about 4 days.

We would definitely use Orlando Ticket Deals again - and by the way - they are by far the cheapest site would could find!

They were more expensive than Theme Park Tickets when I bought mine a few weeks back. I think there're charging the same now.

I have always purchased my tickets from Attraction tickets direct they do not charge for using credit cards and the real tickets are despatched within 10 days of purchase they also price match.
