Why do all sentences that start "Let me put this here so I don't lose it" ...

End the same way?

Before Thanksgiving (mind you I was early this year!!) I bought all of the stamps for my holiday cards. And put them away so I wouldn't lose them.

I guess we all know the end of this story. Well, at least if I ever find them again, I'll have stamps to last me for a LONG TIME!

Cant tell you how many times THAT has happened to me..

"I will put these HERE so I know exactly where to find them when I need them..."

That is usually immediately after I remove them from certain place that may not have been appropriate but at least I knew where they were... I wanted to put it somewhere "safer"....

I misplaced my new desk calander that I bought and I cannot find it ANYWHERE..Im so annoyed because I love it and I bought it at Costco and they no longer have them.....

Of course as soon as I go and buy a new one, guess what I will find...

Before we went on our honeymoon, we put anything valuable in our fireproof cabinet and locked it. I told my DH that I had the perfect hiding spot for the key.

When we returned, not only would a burglar not have found it, but we couldn't either.

About a month after our return (6-weeks after hiding it) I was getting into bed and jumped up because I remembered where I put it.

We thought we were going to have to have the file cabinet drilled and have a new lock installed.

My Mom hid a Christmas present so well for my sister one year that they finally found it years later when they were moving from that house to their new one.

I did exactly what Melora said. I saw the stamps last week and put them "somewhere" so they wouldn't get lost.

I bought postcard stamps PRIOR to my trip to WDW so I wouldn't have to buy them there.

Where they got to I'll never know (I'll find them when postage goes up!)

I lost my dd's first grade pics. I specifically remember putting them "away" and thinking, "I hope I don't forget where I put these." I did. I have one wallet-sized picture. No more. None for the grands, for christmas cards, etc. Well, not until next year when I probably find them!!!!

I'm still looking for my high school class ring. The last thing that I remember thinking when I set it down was "don't put it there - you'll never find it". And that was 25 years ago. And I still haven't found it. I guess it's gone.

I did that with a Christmas present a few years ago for my husband. I found it around Easter time.
