When I spoke w/TA, they said that POP was actually a step DOWN from the ASMo!?! I told him that I thought it was a newly built resort and he didn't even think they had a pool or food court!!!!! I was flabbergasted :earseek: !...I then proceeded (thanks to the Dis boards) to tell him that POP was equal (if not better) than the ASMo and it did in fact have a pool and food court. He still thought that they are less $$ for the rooms. Did I stumble onto a special of some kind?...or just a lesser knowledgable TA (mine is on Maty. leave till May). :confused3

Thanks DisBoards for all the GREAT info!!!!!!!!! :flower:

Good grief... a step down? POP is on equal footing with the AS. They're all value resorts. If anything, I think POP should be a step up, since POP has one thing the AS don't - FROZEN COKE!!!!!!!

Pop actually has a few extras than the All Stars do. The A/S (all 3) have one baby pool for each resort, while Pop has a splashing pool and a water fountain area. Also Pop has a wonderful stand alone pool bar--PLUS a lounge inside for the evening. At the A/S you have only the outside bar that is connected to the food court. I am not bashing the A/S, because we enjoy them too. I just see Disney as using the A/S as a prototype for Pop and improving it. We do, however, still like the food court at the A/S Movies better than the food court at Pop. The A/S has hair dryers in the rooms, while at Pop you need to request them. Not sure if the A/S now have the new BIG TVs (25 or 27 in.), but Pop did during our stays there last year (May and Oct).

I bad TA in my opinion, at least as far as knowledge about Disney is concerned.

I will call them back this AM to rehash the details (and maybe educate them?). I am surprised as my TA whom I have used for many years is GREAT!! She had children and has traveled to the WDW many many times...I MISS HER!!!!! :(

That's exactly why I stopped using travel agents. Not bashing all, I'm sure there are some out there that are great, they just didn't happen to live in my area. :confused3

1.) cruised with 90 year olds for 1 week to the caribean, was told it was a "party" ship, I was 22yr old.

2.) Hawawii just go to Oahu only on 1st trip, she picked her fav resort, the picture from about 1945 I figure when it used to actually be on the beach? before the new road and other resorts where built. And its best to book that airfare separate, from hotel? (you don't even want to know how much that was).

3.) You can NEVER get into them disney resorts they are ALWAYS booked years ago, don't even try, best you can maybe do is dtd, plaza resorts. If your lucky.

So now I do my own research, and if its bad, its only my fault. So far it hasn't been bad. Some of the travel agents on the web seem very up on there disney thou. And when searching the disneycruise I found many up on that also on the web. Tried around here and ran home to the phone. :earboy2:

But if you find someone great, its like your hairstylist! You just love them, and go back for everything. I have offen thought when I retire I wanted to do that as my next career, I enjoy it so much.

Definatly not a step down. Its in the same catergory as the all stars and maybe even a bit nicer because it is newer, has a larger TV, no other resorts to share a bus with, etc.

oh my .......can definitely tell that TA was NOT a Disney Specialist!! but anyway he was right in one part.. the reason the pop is less cost per room is because of the tax..not because is is a lesser resort then the All Stars

..All stars and Pop even though they are all on Disney property Pop is in one county and All stars is in another county . The County line changes inside Disney property and county taxes between the two counties are different.

Yikes! I'd find a new TA ASAP. If they don't even know basic info about the Disney resorts who knows what other misinformation they are going to give you. Not a good sign. Go back to them when your old agent returns from her leave, I wouldn't trust this person to book my trip.

At least he was right about this. Pop Century is less money than the All Stars due to the fact that PC is in Orange County with an 11.5% tax rate on rooms versus the All Stars which are in Osceola County with its 13% room tax. So PC will always be a little less money than All Stars.
