Please convince me on why should I bring my family with preschoolers to Disney in December? (that would be before christmas week) popcorn::

ps: Do you have any pics of December Disney holidays???

Thank you in advance??? princess:

The Christmas decorations! Candelight processional. Christmas Storytellers in EPCOT. Low crowds.

I'll try to link up some pictures from our different Christmas trips at the parks (we've done the parks once and just visited the resorts once, so it's from 2004 and 2005).

you just HAVE GOT TO see Osbourne Family Christmas Lights! It's so beautiful! Christmas time is my 2nd favorite time to go to Disney (other than Food and Wine festival time!)

Here's some of my pictures. I didn't make the Osborne Lights yet, so I don't have pictures of that.

This one is in FronteirLand on my MOm's birthday. The Oompah band spent 20 minutes seranading her. Note the lack of people, and this is about 15 minutes before parade time, on the parade route.

Also a birthday picture, about 30 minutes after the first one. In one of the Main Street Stores, my mom spent about 10 minutes with the mayor and his friend who were in character the whole time. The lady also sang Happy Birthday to my Mom.

Some of the characters have Christmas clothes on. This is my DD with Lilo and Stitch. Note their clothes are different from the norm.

A few photos of the resorts.

This one is the amusement park in the Boardwalk Lobby in 2004. They did change it some the next year, but they always have a display, and it's very nice.

This was (I think) the yacht club lobby. Might have been the Beach Club. It was a working carosel and was about 4 - 5 feet high. Completely made of chocolate (just like the amusement park over at the boardwalk).

Grand Floridian Gingerbread house in 2005. It is big enough to enter, but only the workers do that. You can buy various gingerbread goodies from there. The line gets pretty long, and it's a little pricey, but it's very Christmassy.

Display at the Poly in 2005. Note the monorail going around the gingerbread version of the resort.

More to come.

The last batch of photos.

The lower part of the contemporary had this display. We probably spent 20-30 minutes here taking pictures and doing a hidden mickey hunt. I think there were 20 in this display.

Note that the display was also all chocolate.

Now the slightly down side to December. It can be chilly. The first photos (in 2004), the temperature ranged from high 40s in the mornings and late evenings to high 60s (maybe it hit 70 one day) in the early afternoon. You can see we were layered in the pictures. But the sun was bright and clear, and no rain at all (it USUALLY doesn't rain much in Dec).

In 2005, we just went over for the day (but I had moved to FL by then). Our day trip was 12/17, and it was 75 and sunny. I had taken sweatshirts, hats, and gloves, but we didn't need them at all. A long sleeved t-shirt and long pants was very comfortable. On Christmas Day here in Tampa I had the windows open. But December weather CAN very greatly, so be prepared for that.

Hope you liked the pics!

Why December-Osborne Lights-it's my idea of 'heaven' now. All I can say is WOW!
Love WDW during the 'nice weather' time of year, yes Dec. can be chilly, esp at night, but the beauty of WDW all dressed up is well worth it.

Lower crowds (traditionally the lowest of the year...early Dec), value rates at the resorts, great weather, and all the amazing Christmas decorations and attractions, like Candlelight Processional, MVMCP, the wonderful Christmas ending addon to Iluminations, and on and on.......

There should be many pictures in the links in my signature.

Yeah, what they said. We always go in December (though NEVER the week between Christmas and New Years) and just love it.

DH and I love WDW and for years were unable to visit from early Nov to the end of Dec because of his job, no vacations during the holidays. Three years ago he switched jobs and we go every December now, there is no place like it on earth. All the resorts are decorated beautifully, the parks are so pretty it makes me cry, the Osborne Lights are breathtaking and MVMCP is my favorite party ever.

I cannot believe all that I missed out on in the past by not visiting WDW in Dec

We went in December with a 2yo, 5yo, and 8yo. It was the greatest! They actually had record lows, like upper 20's, lower 30's at night. But during the day a sweatshirt was plenty warm.

The characters spent forever with the kids. I mean WOW. Cinderella held my ds on her lap for 10 minutes!

There were no lines at all. Which is even more wonderful with preschoolers than it is for the rest of us ;) The different hands-on things at the ends of rides were deserted, so the kids got to really experiment with some of the stuff that's meant to be a little educational.

Everything is extra beautiful. In ohio we're so careful with pointsettas, wrapping them to leave the store or whatever, and down there they stack them to make big poinsetta "trees". (they had to have worked alot switching out frosted ones early in the morning!)

Another fun thing was sending dh ahead with the kids and slipping back in to shops to buy Christmas presents that they just ohhhed and ahhhed over. (You know you can send stuff back to your resort and pick it up discretely there, not try to carry it and hide it walking) Along these lines, you can get really cool presents for others in the World Showcase.

Go, do it! book it right this instant! :cheer2:
