Why can't you order sushi as an app on DDP?

you can... out of pocket

the ddp doesn't include an appetizer -- unless you order prefixe which only some restaurants offer

on the dxddp my fiance has been able to order sushi. this plan does include an appetizer.

i guess it depends on the restaurant. my fiance has got it a few places... i can't remember the 1TS, but he for sure got it at the California Grill because I have pictures!!

Where were you looking to order it from?

Teppan Edo. I just think it is strange that some apps that apparently you can order are about the same price. Weird.

That doesn't surprise me. I don't think they are Disney owned... and I've heard others that have had problems with their rules and decision making. Sorry that happened to you. I probably won't ever go back there... BeniHana is so much better.

As the previous poster said, many of the World Showcase restaurants are not Disney owned/operated. They can pick and choose what is included on the DDPs.

1) DDP and DXDP have a pre-set amount of reimbursement.
2) Sushi costs more than the DxDP reimbursement.
3) Thus, it is not covered.

4) Premium and Platinum programs are different.
5) Although covering meals, they are not truly DDP programs.
6) So, they do cover appy's.
7) They are also honored at eateries not accepting DDP or DxDP.
8) They reimburse on a cost-basis, not a pre-set basis.
9) That is why Rainforest, Fulton's, etc accept them.

Just to throw my 2 cents in....when we went 2 years ago on DxDP - at Kona there was a sushi appetizer for 2 which my husband and sister ordered (I'm not a sushi fan) that was included with no problem. And by the way. we really enjoyed Kona.

We were there in June and did the deluxe dining plan. Here is the list of restaurants we went to that offered Sushi:
1) Cali Grill - All sushi is an app except the "Snake in the Grass" and the deluxe Sushi platter. These can be ordered as an entree.

2) Kona cafe - All Sushi counts as an App.

3) Flying Fish - They had 1 Sushi App

4) Woolfgang Puck Cafe - No Sushi can be ordered as an App. FYI, People rave about the Sushi here and I did not find it that Great. Cali Grill was much better.
