Why can't we get deposit back when using MYW dining?

I just made a PS for CRT and gave them my credit card for a $25 deposit. I told the cm that we were on the dining plan. I called back to make another PS today and asked if we would be charged the $25 as a deposit of if our card would be held in case we cancelled. The cm I spoke with today said she didn't see where I had told them we were on the dining plan. She also said that we were already charged the $25 deposit and that we couldn't get a refund for it unless we cancelled our current reservation. Whatever!
I don't see why we have to pay for something that we have already paid for. There has to be a way to refund our account without cancelling our PS.

Any ideas or has this happened to you?

Maybe you can cancel it and then re-book it, are they able to do that? That seems silly that you can't get your money back.

maybe if you call back and talk to a different cm? maybe the other was new?

I would assume that in any case the deposit is used to avoid no-shows. Even if you are on the dining plan, they still lose $$$ if you don't show up. They would have no way to charge the meal to your dining plan if they didn't take a deposit.

I thought that you had to put the deposit down no matter if you had the dining plan or not (for certain restaurants)

I made a PS for CRT on my dining plan. They did take my credit card number as a guarantee, but they didn't take a deposit from it!

I must have had a cranky or new CM. I called back today and spoke with another CM and she said that it was true that if I wanted my deposit back now, that I would have to cancel and make another PS. However, she said that I could get my deposit back when we arrived at the CRT. This could have all been avoided if I had mentioned...errr, if the first CM had made a note of it. As I understand it, if you are using the Dining Package, they just get your CC# in case of a no show. The last CM I spoke with also made a point to make mention of my predicament on my PS and that should clear everything up.

Does this apply to breakfast and lunch character meals only...or do they also take a cc # for dinner reservations in the castle too?
