Okay, I need to vent and this is a terrific place to do it. My dishwasher broke last fall. Repairman says $150 for part and labor. Okay, fine. He never comes back. So, I call dishwasher company to get a new part. On hold, 3 times, for 15 minutes each time!!! My dh goes out and buys a new part. A friend of his says he'll fix it, just give him a call when we get the part. Can my dh do this??? Noooooo, he has to get 'macho' and try to fix it himself. He is NOT a handy guy. Has other terrific qualities but fixing stuff isn't one of them. I get home from church on Sunday. He's hiding out at his office. I call him and he says.."you want the good news or the bad news?" Well, the bad news is the dw is completely dead now. Good news??? THat he got all the flying sparks out before the kitchen caught fire!!!!!! So. Off to the appliance shop. I pick one out. $670!!!!! They come out and install it yesterday. I use it today. Well. Turned it on at 9:30 and left for a day with my 9 y/o dd. Got home from the movies, at 2:15 and that sucker was still going!!! Still washing!!! Man. I call the shop where we got it. Of course the guy we dealt with is out on an installation call!!! Why is it that every time I try to replace an appliance something like this happens???? Every time. And where is that wonderful dh for all this fun?? In Atlanta, on business. I think I'll go have a nice glass, well, maybe tumbler, of wine. Nah. The whole bottle. Thanks for listening.

Second, sorry you are going through this. Nothing more frustrating than having something brand new not work well.

Hope the installation/repair guy can come out soon.

You've been without a dishwasher since last fall?

You deserve more than a few of these

I bought a brand new dw in July. I really researched and shopped and bought the one that Consumer Report suggested. It was installed-- cost another $100.00 It smells like a skunk and the door on the inside still has dirt on it after the dw is finished cleaing. The repair man comes out changes a part and says try this. Same thing. Then he comes out again and says there is a new basket . I thought that would fix the problem. But no, not acceptable. The basket is this huge thing that takes up half of the bottom rack. The basket on this dw is supposed to mount on the door or on the outside of the bottom rack. Then he asks what I want to do. I want a new dw. But I really want this model so he orders another one. He intalls it and leaves. I try to put in dishes and push the bottom rack back in and it gets stuck. It is scrapping on something. I took the rack out and see that the stainless steel tub is bashed in on the bottom of both sides. I complain again. They send another one. I said let me look at it before you install it. It to was dented and wet all over and the box was all cut open and taped back up. So I said no I dont want to go from bad to worse. By this time I am really upset and tired of waiting for the repairman . I finally got my husband to call and find out why thay can't bring me a good, new, not dented or used machine. They say take it, or leave it , they are not going to exchange it again. I kept it! I just couldn't stand the idea of waiting for the repairman again and shopping around and waiting again to have it installed and paying for installatin again. They wore me down. So every time I push the bottom rack in I still get upset because it is scrapping on something and the door still has dirt on it. urggggggggggggg!

Well, the appliance shop did get back to me. They are not happy campers. They called Maytag directly and told them to get to my house and either fix it or replace it. So, hopefully on Tuesday I'll be back in business. But, it's back to hand-washing for me. Pizza and wine tonight. On paper plates of course!! Cheers!!!!
