Why can't I pull the trigger?

What about the Nikon 18-135mm lens and the Sigma 30mm f/1.4. Then save up down the road for the 70-300 VR and/or the SB-600 flash.

Hmmmmm... the decision making gets a bit harder :rotfl:

OK, yet another question. Ritz online has a deal going on now that has the D40, 18-55, 55-200 (both notVR), a bag and a couple of how-to DVD's for $549. Do I go for this and pick up the extra lenses at B&H when my mind decides to make itself up?

If image stabilization is on your mind, remember that Pentax, Sony, and Olympus (except their E410/E420) will all give you image stabilization with every lens you attach to them... including the Sigma 30mm and your 50mm of choice. This is simply not possible with the C/N bodies (until they finally relent and put IS in the body too.) It really is a killer feature and one that I think is often overlooked. Yes, it's not a silver bullet when shooting moving objects, but it has much usefulness.
