OK. Maybe I"m missing something.
  1. I am an AP.
  2. I have two trips booked this year (AP expires 12/30/20)
  3. Each trip I was only allowed to book park reservations for three days
  4. I have two trips booked next year at two Disney hotels
  5. I am "not allowed" to make park reservations for either of those two trips (Jan and March)
  6. I can understand because my AP hasn't been renewed, but I thought I could make reservations because I have ressies at a Disney resort

You can make reservations when staying at a disney resort, if you have an active AP or if you purchase tickets. That is the way it was explained to me as we are in the same boat, our passes expire in December, we have a resi in Feb. Cast member told me after renewal or if I purchase tickets I can make a reservation for the parks.

Just having a hotel reservation does not qualify you to make a park reservation. You also need to have valid ticket media attached to your profile in MDE. You have valid ticket media thru 12/30/2020. After that date, you do not.

No you need a valid ticket to use the Disney Park Pass reservation system. A resort reservation just gives you a better chance of being able to make a reservation. A larger pool of reservations.
