Why can't I decide? DME or transport?

I keep struggling with this & reading all of the threads about both DME and private transportation companies.

DME sounds like the way to go....FREE and seems pretty smooth (most people get to the resorts fairly quickly and get their luggage a little while later).

We usually like to do a grocery stop, but with the $100 or more that I'd be saving in transport fees, I could just do some quick shopping at the little store in our resort, right? And I'd still end up saving money.

BUT

I can't help but think we'd be the ones that have DME issues or our luggage would get lost, etc. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

UGH.....Anyone go from using private transportation companies to DME? Would you continue to use DME or would you go back to your transport company?

Thanks for any help. I truly appreciate it. :wave2:

When you take DME you can get groceries by delivery. I've read of people using www.wegoshop.com, and I used Gooding's (www.goodings.com), a local grocery store that delivers. I preferred Gooding's because you don't have to schedule your delivery with them (they deliver to Bell Services, and BS delivers it to your room when you're good and ready, and they keep your cold stuff cold!).

Tough one, I know what you mean. I am stuck on rental or DME. I want rental so I can just go WITH my luggage, but for DME Free ... man I dunno either!

So far I have used Mears shuttle once (back in '99), Tiffany Towncar 3 times, Florida Tours twice and DME twice. If, and when, DME starts charging, I may have to reconsider my choice. But, until then, I'll be using them. I have used wegoshop.com and that worked like a charm. If I can save over $100 by using DME and doing without my bags for an hour or two, then so be it.
If having your luggage is important to you, then don't put the yellow tags on them and retrieve them yourself and bring them to the bus with you. THey will then go on the bus and you will have them when, and where, you want them. That money that I saved pays for a nice dinner in WDW!!

If, or when, they start charging for DME..then I'll think about going with the towncar again. It's all about the money with me!!! :teeth:

I booked my May 8 - 14, 2005 trip back in October of 2004. I had planned to use Murray Hill for a towncar ride, but once DME was announced to start May 5, I checked out the details, and FREE worked very well for me. I've never used a towncar service, so I can't compare the 2 types of transportation to WDW, but I'll tell you, I was COMPLETELY SATISFIED with DME. It was smooth, easy, friendly. It was, well, very "Disney." 53 minutes from getting in the DME desk line to being dropped off at CBR -- would waiting at baggage claim and then getting a towncar ride or getting a rental car have beat me to CBR on a busy Sunday morning? If so, it can't be by much. And if I'd chosen to make a grocery stop? Forget it, it wouldn't have even been close.

I don't much like having the DME bring me back to the airport... I want to go to a park and then get my plane... maybe I will rent the last couple days only and use DME for arrival.

For us having a towncar pick us up and help with the luggage is well worth the money. Even though DME is free both myself and my husband agree that we like to be pampered so we are going with Tiffany on our next Disney trip. We also would be using DME only one way since we are splitting our trip with 5 days at Disney and 5 days at Universal.

Thanks goofy4tink

I think we're gonna give DME a shot for this trip in December. Why not try it since it's FREE, right? And I'll look into wegoshop too. I'm thinking, though, that we might actually save more money if we just buy some breakfast items & snacks at the resort shop b/c if we do a grocery service, I think we might order more than we actually need - if that makes any sense.

And thanks CleveRocks - by saying that the experience was very "Disney" I think you sold me!

Thanks again!

I have used FLTours and the service has been great. Since DME is FREE... I have used DME 3x already... and will be using it again.. and again... until they stop this free service. All 3x has been easy and smooth with no problems. Can I decide for you? USE DME! :) IT'S FREE!
