Why can't I bank...

I went back to our Member Guidebook, which really doesn't have RULES listed...but, one thing I did notice, NO WHERE does it mention that a reservation change is "swapping points our and in". A reservation change in teh Member Guidebook is canceling a day or adding a day onto a reservation. This swapping stuff isn't even mentioned as being acceptable.

I guess, because if there is no wait list, there then is no problem canceling that one day, and rebooking it with the reallocated points.

Does that make sense?

That's the part I don't "get". You can only make reservations at the 11 month mark, not before if you are using only home resort points. The reallocation has very minimal if any effect on booking at the 11 month mark. "Locking" up reservations could be done by borrowing points and that carries no penalty.

When someone borrows points from a future year (which I'm known for doing more than anything else of), that frees up inventory on that year. So, that banked points can be used to book up that freed up inventory. I think there are members that bank and members that borrow and it evens out......I don't believe DVC Members can spend more DVC points than DVC reservations can be made? Therefore, that is why our guidebook mentions that DVC has the right to suspend banking and/or borrowing at any time. I've never seen this happen yet.

I believe there are a lot of members that lose some points at the of their use years. I know, when I first joined, I lost 60 points my very first use year, and this happened, only because I bought those 60 points towards the end of my Use Year, and was not able to get down to Disney World before then. But, I need the 60 points for my next use year, to make a reservation in April. So, I bought them anyway.

I too have an April use year.
