Why can't Housekeeping get this right?

They can't get the full cleaning and TT days straight.

This has happened almost every DVC trip to WDW where we've stayed at one resort for more than a few days. We're at BWV right now, and it happened again.

I prefer to change my TT day and my full cleaning day, because it just doesn't seem logical to have them on the days that DVC specifies. For example, we're here for 9 nights. Full cleaning was scheduled for day 4 (which is actually less than 3 full days here) with TT scheduled for day 8. I wanted full cleaning on day 5...right smack in the middle...and NO TT day.

One of the things I like about DVC is the whole "Home Away from Home" feeling, and that includes not having people coming into my home unannounced and unexpected. When I'm expecting housekeeping, my family and I tidy up a bit, putting away things we'd rather not have out...whatever that might be. Plus, I hate to have housekeeping have to work around the clutter that can occur when we're in a hurry to get out to the parks early in the morning.

Usually, if I'm going to change the days, I do it at check-in, because that's when the CM states the days, but this trip she didn't mention it and I didn't think of it. So Wednesday evening (day 3) I stopped at the front desk and told the two (super nice) CMs (one "earning her ears") that I wanted the full cleaning changed from Thursday to Friday, and the TT day on Monday canceled. They called Housekeeping, and supposedly made the arrangements.

*NOTE* I didn't call Housekeeping myself because I wanted to deal with someone face to face, and normally, I'm changing it with the Front Desk anyway at check-in.

Thursday comes, DH and the kids head out to a water park, and as I'm stepping out of the shower, I hear a knock at the door. Wrapped in a towel, I head out of the bathroom expecting to look through the door's peephole, but the door is open (as much as it could, with the lock on) and the maid is peering in, sees me wrapped in a towel (I was not happy) and closes the door. I unlocked it, opened it and peered around the door and told her not today, tomorrow (Friday). I stopped at the Front Desk on the way out, and the computer showed no change...still had Thursday as full cleaning and Monday as TT. So, I had it changed.

On Friday on the way out, I double checked with the Front Desk that I would get a full cleaning. The CM looked on the computer, and it showed a full cleaning for Friday. I asked about TT...she said that it was scheduled for Monday, but had been canceled...is that what I wanted? Yes, it was! :thumbsup2 And yes, we had a full cleaning done yesterday (Friday). :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Today I was taking an afternoon nap, and DH told me later that a maid stopped by at 3:30 to clean the room. ????

So I stopped at the Front Desk on the way in from MGM tonight (or DHS, if you're so inclined to accept "change" ;)) and saw those two sweet CMs from Wednesday night, and no one checking in, so I decided I'd go be a bother ;) and told them about it. They said that after I left the desk Wednesday night they even called Housekeeping back to confirm, because it wasn't showing up in the system, but were assured that it was written down on the schedule as well as a note to a Housekeeping manager. :confused3

Although it's hardly a crisis and did not "ruin" my vacation, I don't understand why they can't get it right. And like I said, I really don't like being bothered by door knocks and people coming in.

I can understand that Wednesday might have been cutting it close to have them NOT come on Thursday, but I've had this problem when I've made the changes at check-in, which is 3 days in advance.

Now those nice CMs at the Front Desk had a great idea...the "Do Not Disturb" sign! Except, we can't find it anywhere. :confused3 So I will have to see about getting one. (Not sure the 2nd BR has one...have to check that tomorrow too.) I guess we'll just have to get into the habit of using them.

So goes my tale of woe. I wish I had this problem at home...people bound and determined to clean my house every day. ;)

I tried on two trips early on my DVC ownership to change my cleaning or T&T days. Both trips they messed it up.

That was enough for me...haven't tried it since. Obviously they just don't have a very good system to handle change requests. :confused3

Most stays are 7 days or less so the DVC has the TT day scheduled first in rotation. As a unpublished courtesy, members can reschedule their cleaning days. The problem with any changes is that the CM's get confused and don't know what to do. We have found that any change at Disney opens you up for all sorts of problems, it doesn't matter if it's the DDP, booking a reservation, of having your room cleaned, you will eventually have problems.

Make sure that you forward your post to the DVC Satisfaction Team @ dvcmembersatisfactionteam@disneyvacationclub.com

I haven't had much luck with either changing the cleaning days OR having the room cleaned with me paying (which I attempted once).

Like you, Mary, I hate having the mousekeepers come in, but I rarely put the DND sign out. I'm not likely to remember to do that. In 14 years of trips though, we've only had a couple of times where they have walked in on anyone. Once was our DS when he was showering in the hall bath of the GV and the shower leaked into the unit below. He was a little surprised when they walked in on him that time. I do remember one other time, but I think it might have been when we had asked for a day change, and they didn't get it right.

I'm like Granny....I don't bother to change the days anymore. It just confuses things too much. The thing I don't understand is why they can't get the regular days right sometimes either. Several times we have not even gotten our scheduled T&T or full cleaning.:confused3

This is such a change for them that I doubt they'll get this change right very often. We've tried to change it a couple of times and they didn't get it right then either. I think it's best just to leave it alone and not try to change it unless one has a pressing need. Our last trip back in the spring, we had a 7 night exchange but were leaving on Mon. Friends were coming on on Monday which fortunately was the day T&T was scheduled.

OMG, this is hysterical. We just got back from all day at MK, to find that we had ANOTHER full cleaning! :rotfl2: I walked in and saw the blanket folded on the couch (where DS sleeps) and I thought for a brief moment that HE had folded it before we left? Ha! Fat chance. Yep, the whole place was cleaned, and they left their spray bottle in the 2nd bathroom.

I refuse tho to give up on trying to get it right. After checking in on a Monday afternoon for 9 nights, I don't WANT a full cleaning on Thursday. :confused3 That's less than 3 days being here, and then there'd be no more full cleanings the rest of the time. :confused3

And this is the fourth day in a row they've come, and only two days since the actual full cleaning. Seriously, we're paying for this with dues.

Oh well...it's almost like a game now.

The GOOD part is that we've got all new towels, plus the ones that were in the dryer, and the ones that were in the laundry basket, clean. So much for paying for extra sets.

I've never asked for a change, I did not know I could even do that. Obviously, you can't! lol
In February when we were there we weren't scheduled for a full cleaning (short trip) but a TT only. They came a day early! I think we'd been there a day and a half. However, it was OK with me because that was the trip I was sick on (rem. my b-day :( ) so I was actually OK with them coming early.

You just never know when they'll show up or what all they do in the room even. As someone who grew up cleaning motel rooms, WDW mousekeeping drives me CRAZY.

I've had the same problem on numerous trips with just a little old studio. I usually have more problems when there has been one or more waitlists come through that are linked together. It seems to throw the whole system off. :confused3

Yes, and linked reservations seem to mess things up as well. We had a 2 bedroom for 10 days once, but it was a linked reservation. We never did get either T&T OR a full cleaning.

Yes, I've had this problem too! I will call housekeeping to change full cleaning (to a date that makes more sense) and t&t, it's never happened. I've tried at least 4 times and have never had success.

Now we just hang out the do not disturb and take care of our own needs.

This should be interesting. We have 2 consecutive weeks booked through RCI in the same resort/same room type. I'm hoping at check in we can arrange to not have to move after the first week. I wonder what mousekeeping will think with an end of stay full clean with all our stuff still there???

You can make the request with MS ahead of time. If it's truly the EXACT same room type, then you likely won't have to move. Make the request again at the first check in. You will have to check in again on the change day. Remember that EVERY item has to line up. The room shave to be the same room size, same view type and even be all dedicated or all lockoff. Just both being 2 BR and the same resort is not enough. If one is a 2 BR and one a smaller unit AND the 2 BR is a lockoff, you may be able to stay in the same unit portion.

If it depends on Disney IT to keep track of I doubt they will ever get it right.

Again. Housekeeping just came AGAIN! :confused3 She knocked, and by the time I was getting to the door, she was coming in. She asked "Are you ready for service now?" I told her no service, not today. She asked if that was for both rooms. Yes.

I wondered, the way she said "Are you ready for service NOW?", if she might have come while I was out and DS was here conked out on the couch (he's got a miserable cold).

I don't get it.

I just hope they don't think you have requested all these "services" and then plan to charge you at the end!

On our last BWV stay in May, where essentially nothing went right, mousekeeping did TT on day 3. We were totally confused, not prepared for them to be in the room, thought it might have been an extra day to make up for all the previous messes, but no. They just came on the wrong day. I am SO hoping things go better in December. BWV is our "main" home resort and the whole last trip was like an itch you can't reach to scratch--just completely out of kilter and off-balance.

Yep, this has been our experience the last few visits. No clue when they're REALLY gonna do a cleaning or T&T. What the schedule says was not what they actually did. Very weird.

You can say that again!!

Sounds like our last BWV trip in January. I couldn't believe how off the cleaning schedule was! Tried not to worry about it but I really should have said something just so they know this is happening more and more frequently.

Mare, I hope you enjoy your multiple full cleanings! :rotfl:

Just think of the money they could if the got it right.

We go for 2 weeks each summer, and 1 week in March, and on our last few trips, we haven't had any cleaning at all. We've called, and it's a problem, as evidenced by this thread. They skipped us, messed up days, and then showed up when it was inconvenient for us, and then when you try and reschedule, that does not go well either. We prefer not to have people in our villa either, but when you go for that long, you need to have it freshened up. Hubby said we should get a refund on the housekeeping portion of our dues, as we've been cleaning it ourselves!

We've been cleaning our villas ourselves, but bedding is an issue, so we do have to call for that. We actually wash all of our towels, clean the kitchen, vacuum, disinfect, etc. but we are able to do this as it's a 1 bedroom. I'm not sure what the deal is either?

We'll see what happens for our next trip to OKW during the holidays as we'll be there for 10 days.
