Why can't Disney make a film with an intact family?

I can handle single parent households, dysfunctional families, and orphans. However, I refused to let our 6 year old view the LION KING after previewing the Uncle's murder of his brother. Maybe such a crime is common in your neighborhood, but not in mine :D............

Now THAT is a sign of a dysfunctional family. But keep in mind that these are wild critters and have different rules than us.

Uncle's murder of his brother.

Huh? That's not The Lion King - that's Hamlet... :teeth:

er...or was Shakespeare wrong in his storytelling as well?

goofygirl - I totally agree. Just as I mentioned about Harry Potter - since both his parents are deceased he has no one to 'turn' to, thus creating the audience to 'feel' for the protagonist...the formula works indeed.

Am I the only one who wouldn't watch a movie about what society deems is a 'perfect' family..what exactly would be the storyline??? Who's turn it is to go get bread at the store? I mean if I wanted to see that - I would just catch reruns of 'Leave it to Beaver'... :D

It's just about entertaining people to make money folks, nothing more, nothing less...
