Why are there alternating days of availability?

I'm looking at a stay in March, and I see that every other day is available between March 9th and March 20th. Does anyone know why this would be the case? The only two theories that make sense to me:

1. There are a bunch of people who want one night stays (or cascading 3 night stays) and they just happen to fall on the odd dates.

2. Someone is trying to "reserve" that whole period by overbooking the odd days and not booking the even ones at all. I guess then once they finalize which dates they really want, they could go in and book the even dates, merge the reservations, and cancel the dates they don't actually need. But this feels very weird to me and probably not something that would work every time. What if someone booked two of the individual even days (that were consecutive), then waitlisted the one odd day in the middle? The availability for those even days would potentially dry up and the person who booked all of the odd nights would be stuck.

3. Someone local REALLY loves deluxe perks in the parks and wants them for every day, but wants to minimize the points they spend on it. By booking every other day, they get early entry, extended evening hours, etc on every day of the 12 day period. But if this was the case, why not do it somewhere cheaper than Poly?

That is odd, I don't know if I've ever seen that. It doesn't seem organic, does it? But I have no explanation to offer.

My guess is just a weird anomaly. I ran the dev tools to see what it shows for actual availability on those dates. The 10th has 1 room showing available, same for the 12th, the 14th weirdly has 12 rooms available and the 16th has 2 rooms, 18th 5 rooms. My guess is just a weird dynamic of check-ins and outs, i know we book a night a lot of times before a cruise, so that could also be part of it, but I didn't check the cruise schedules for that month.

How do you run the dev tools? Can one learn this power?

Image was removed as we don’t allow specific info like that to be posted.

It’s just possible that you have days that more are checking out so rooms there.

Since we are talking non home resort booking, it can happen.

Have you looked to see if any are MM dates or after hour nights. Some will snag a night for those.

when you're in calendar view for bookings in Chrome...click the three dots on the top right...scroll down and there should be a more tools option...click that and one of the choices should be developer tools...select that and it will produce the developer tools. There is a search option...I usually type in CAL in the search option (short for calendar availability) and when you click on the room type you are looking at, it will produce the calendar for the month you are looking at, within that data it shows you rooms still available

Don't give up. I have 10 nights at BWV in April/May. I started with a couple nights and added on and moved the reservation around as availability opened. I had Poly for a time and then Kidani as CYA. I want 13-14 nights. There were many "every other" nights I had to conquer. I found most of the availability in the middle of the night and then late morning. It took weeks to get all 10 nights but I did it with stalking. I now have an additional 3 nights at VGF and am trying to add an additional night or drop a BWV and add 2 nights. It is just a matter of persistence and luck!

:tink:

I always thought that was due to people walking. Seems like maybe I was wrong

The only sure fire way to identify walking is when the day exactly at the 11 month window is gone, and then comes back the next day.....

Alll other situations may or may not be walking....and, when we are looking at 7 month availablity or less, its even harder to know if we have walks going on because owners have had plenty of time to book.

My guess is that even the easy rooms are sometimes walked but no one would know it because they always show still available.

Where do you look for the calendar and data though? I tried this and got 16000+ results when searching for "cal"
