Why are the wings at ESPN Club so huge?

You don't see Big Bird hanging around the parks, do you?

Because the supplier gets them from a chicken company that grows larger chickens? Likely by choice of ESPN to satisfy their customers, not chance. They are buying by the lb but selling by the wing, so they aren't "accidentally" buying the bigger wings.

Chickens are raised for breast meat. Everything else is secondary. Some chickens are grown for more meat/larger breasts so they can be made into processed things like chicken nuggets. Others are grown to a specific size so that the whole breasts are the correction portion for your Chic-fil-a sandwich or your KFC fried chicken.

Wing size is roughly proportional to breast size.

(I have a degree in Poultry Science. :thumbsup2)

Emu.
lots left over since they use the legs at the turkey carts.

;)

I have a Amish farmers market near my house that I go to all the time. I like their free range beef.

Any whoo. I mentioned to the Amish women working at the poultry stand that the chicken wings were a bit on the small size. Talk about tearing into me. :lmao:
Girlfriend replied: :Chickens were not intended to be supersized so big that they can barely hold up their own weight. They were not intended to be injected with saline water, steroids and chemical just to have flavor eggs were not intended to be given growth hormones so we could have chickens with the wing span of 747.

I swear that was the most I had ever heard the amish speak. by the time she finished I was ready to work for her for free. LOL.

I've never made that comment again.

Nice. Glad to see those innocent amish are using untrue scare tactics to move product just like some of the other "natural" people.

If you're selling wings, there better be some meat on them. Otherwise, you're paying a premium price for hollow bones. Literally buying AIR! :cool1:

Maybe they're Buffalo-style wings?

Good God - don't tell my DH they're big - that's just one more reason he'll drag us all to ESPN for 4 hours to watch NFL that Sunday!!! ;)

Personally I like the wings at ESPN....they aren't cut up, it is the whole wing. Not sure why they do it but I like it...

They're huge and they're also loaded with tons of sauce! I must have used 20 napkins during that meal but they were oh so yummy!

I wished ESPN Club would've left the zingers alone. I loved when they were the tenderloin, Now it's nugget size white meat. Still good just not as good.
