Why are ppl so mean to guests?

I went to the VMK esplanade today and their were two girls going over to guests and insulting their clothes and how "Poor" they were. I told them to stop being mean to people and then they start saying how I'm so out of style and stuff Like that " Come on People How low can you go? Anyone else realizing this especially in the Pirates Game?

I know, people shouldn't make fun and be mean to guests and new players! They know nothing of the game yet so if they ask you an easy question like: Where do you go to play pirates? You should kindly answer them instead of insulting them and flooding them with putdowns. After all...every experienced and wealthy player on VMK today, started off no more than a clueless and inexperienced guest.

Thing you need to keep in mind is that those two girls were probably immature preteens who have nothing better to do than to make people feel worse. The fact is that they need to be reminded is that they started out as guests, we all did, and they have probably just created that guest to have resentment and once he/she becomes an experienced player will do the same thing to have revenge. Any guest I meet I try to be polite and help them if they do need help, there is no reason to be mean because you never know if that guest could be a close friend of yours or even a staff member going undercover. I've done it before so why can't they. So when you encounter a guest just remember you were like that once and try and help them feel right at home and if you see them being harrassed I think its about time that guest learned that little friendly red button

It really frustrates me that people do this, and alos their VERY low spirit in pirates. It's so annoying and not giving new people to vmk a chance to see the fun part about vmk. WHY???

I just have to say this does not happen to all guests. Yesterday, I was in vmk with a family member. It was her first day in vmk as a player. Her title included was a guest with a number. Part of the time I was sitting next to her in real life, but my character was not in vmk.

As she explorered we were in many different public rooms in vmk. We did not encounter any mean or disruptive players.

When in the quest room of a fellow Diser and she was treated respect by the owner and all of the players in his room. (Thank you again!)

I am not mean to guests but when i started not many ppl learned that u can be mean to guests.
I dont really understand why ppl are tho and vmk staff should be doing something about this. I mean seriously everyone has their own sense of style and I bet that everyone on vmk was poor and a guest, unless they chose a name from the list they give u, but still u are a guest or brand new. It really isnt fair

I have experienced some of both perspectives.

Yes, there are some players that seem to believe that guests are "inferior" in some way to players with their own chosen names. I haven't seen this portrayed in actual words, rather, I've seen it in peoples' actions, (for example, ganging up on guests in Pirates.)

Also, I have seen the other side of this issue. Many people, (myself included), like to help out guests when they ask for help, and even (gasp!) give them free things.

To me, it seems like guests are more ignored rather than picked on.

It's been a very long time since I was in school, but I remember being in grade school and jr. high and having other kids make fun of me and insulting me and they did it to my face.

Usually in pirates. The people never join a guests side. Because they stink. But for me, i like to play with guests on they're sides. Besides, some guests ive played with are better then me. And no, they're not mules. And even if they're not good, i try my best .

This reminds me of how this one girl was yesterday. It had nothing to do with her either. She questioned why someone said it was morning. He said cause he lived on the west coast. I nicely said how you should not give that info out. She goes off saying to stop acting like staff. I don't care if people are guests or named. We are all there to play a game and enjoy it. Sadly some don't know how to enjoy it like most of us but instead have to be mean. I'm hoping those that do act that way to anyone get the boot from the game. It may not happen right away but that kind of behavior will catch up to them. I always help those that may need it no matter what and enjoy seeing others do it too. I know I have seen a few diferent toons taking guests around to show them who to get credits from and other things. But I think its a nice reminder to be nice to other players. Guest or named it shouldn't matter.

I can put this into perspective. Players can be mean whether you're a Guest
or not. When I started VMK, it was during beta testing (I don't remember
when I joined, but I think it was either the last week of May or first week
of June) and most of us had Guest titles. We were all new to VMK.

On about my second or third visit to VMK, I had another player come up to
me (as my Guest title) and say, "Your ugly". Of course, I wanted to laugh at
his grammar, but I totally confused him by telling him "thank you" and "I
heart being ugly". He didn't know how to respond because he didn't hurt
my feelings.

So as you see, some players say these things just to get a negative reaction
from others. If the Guest acted like me and didn't give the mean players
the satisfaction of hurting them, maybe those girls would lose interest in
their petty games.

So true. I have had many in the past tell me I was ugly cause I was green. I just basically ignored them. When I've been asked why I am green, I always say cause I rather be different instead of looking like everyone else. I had one person ask if I was ok. I wasn't sure what she meant so I said yes why and she went on to say I looked sick. I laughed so hard at that and just told her I was fine and said something about my green just being my color. She laughed at the reponse I gave her. Which was cool. I know that wasn't someone being mean with that but it was funny. I think its either better to ignore the mean or play it up so they have no clue what to say. I don't remember players being so mean all the time though in beta and when it was first after beta. It seems to just have gotten to be more of that over the last year from what I have seen. Thankfully I don't see a ton of it myself anymore.
