Why are people so mean?

I'm wondering why people have to be so mean on these threads. This is supposed to be fun! I think I am done posting on these. I just got flammed for having too much space in my signature. I tried to post a picture and I guess it was too big. I have never done it before...didn't really have a clue to what I was doing. I think people forget that we are all human and mistakes happen. I'm sure not everyone is mean and nasty but reading through, I am so surprised at the tone of some of the posts and replies. If I wanted this much drama, I'd watch reruns of The Real World!

I used to make mistakes too when posting pictures that hadn't been resized properly. It took me a few tries to get it right. We all make mistakes. Just ignore rude people and keep posting to the boards you like posting to.

I think ananimity (can I spell?) sometimes makes people feel like they can say things they normally wouldn't.

Also, sarcasim and humor can get lost without body language and vocal tone.

I think you are posting on the wrong threads. I lurked for a year before I started feeling comfortable posting. Come on over to the offended thread and also to the what is with some threads thread, we are quite a friendly bunch and are just having fun!

There are a lot of rude people on here. Most of them only want attention so you just have to ignore them. I could go on and on...go to the cliqueless thread; it's very friendly over there. That, or stay away from the CB as they all seem to lurk here.

I don't see where anyone was being mean to you. You did have an annoying amount of blank space in your signature, and the thread is titled "Things that annoy me, post yours!". Sorry that you think that telling the truth is being mean, nasty or flamimng.
Now OTOH your reaction tho their post is borderline rude.

I've been in your shoes... I stumbled onto the CB and thought it was the dark side (the start of my first tag!!).... but, once you get to know the posters that are the heart of this board... you'll come to love them. They truly are a great group of caring people that have fun!

As for the less than positive posters that just want to stir the pot... that's what the IGNORE option is for!

Stick around... I did and I'm so glad!!

Edited to add: Not the first TAG I have now... I did not think this group was a bunch of "dumb people".... that was my 4th tag, ended up on top and was from a thread where someone was venting about co-workers that weren't the brightest, etc... I said I saw a cup in a magazine that she should take to work... "I see dumb people".

Thought I should clarify before I offend someone!

I know it was! I was angry! I listen to rude people all day! I don't expect to find rudeness on a disney site. Never mind! I'm going to the nice threads with nice people!

The Disboards have always had rude and mean posters and probably always will. I just stick with my nice friends and safe topics, LOL!

I love the community board! I find the mixture of people and the difference in opinions refreshing...that said it can also get mean at times. I also tend to stay away from "hot topics" and choose to immerse myself in fun and enjoyable threads. Don't leave after just one incident...stay and meet all the nice people that are here!

Click on the person's name... then choose "view public profile"... then add "so and so" to your Ignore List"... or something like that...

The eyeball... go to the thread about Get Rid of the Eyeball!!! It's a long story but the group of posters on there are the reason I'm here today... they ROCK!!!

There is some flaming out here that will make your eyeballs burn.
There are good groups, and some not so nice people
Just find one that suits your taste.
I don't think the post was meant for you.
Because there are a LOT ( I can't stress that out enough) of people with huge siggies.
So it wasn't towards you.
