Its the moderators of this message board, Head over to the Purchasing DVC forum and make a post that says you want to buy saratoga becuase its economical but you dont plan to stay there. Guaranteed a moderator stopping just short of calling you an idiot will tell you in a gruff tone to buy where you want to stay. There are so many people on this board like that, agree with me or I will troll you, lol I can go on and on but I wont. I was once active on disbaords, only here recently becuase I wanted ROFR stats. Otherwise I stay away. Disney is a happy place, many people here are just bitter and why deal with that, there are other boards with better people on them.
MOD - OT excuse me for going into detail but the above opinion needs a counter point IMO. If not, please remove my comments.
I look at the DVC scenario you use as an example from a totally different perspective. I'm a pre-SSR owner. Not difficult to realize when so many units came into inventory when that resort opened, the 11 month window quickly became more of an advantage when booking at one's resort.
Add in the development of professional renters wherein unused points are booked quickly within the 11 month premium & walking of reservations, well it can be a challenge to get what you want at your own resort exactly at the 11 month window!
Noobs (just considering buying in whether resale/direct) need to know the reality of booking availability. Especially, as it pertains to studios and the popular time periods/resorts. Regulars routinely reiterate this valid point to save one from disappointment & coming back & posting how crappy DVC is when they can't book a non SSR resort @ 7 months.
IMO The mods and others on DVC boards (me included) via responding to this sort of question that comes up at least weekly are doing those getting ready to invest a chunk of change a real solid - Buy where you want to stay.
