Why are Jeeps so Angry?

That picture looks like a 3rd party aftermarket accessory you can buy. I haven't seen that particular grille in person but agree it doesn't look appealing. Glanced at the Jeep website and none of the new vehicles they sell have that sort of grille. I have seen a number of aftermarket pieces/parts on various vehicles that look awful, but apparently they appeal to some. Some people think it is desirable to raise the vehicle way up in the air or have it be very low to the ground. Both of those seem to look awful in many vehicles as well.

Yeah, I think they are. I've just seen them around a lot lately, and, yeah, usually on ones that are all tricked out in other ways too - jacked up, big tires, winches, etc.

In other trends that I do wish would catch on, I also saw a Lexus SUV with a matte-black paint job. I saw some matte paint jobs at a car show in LA a few years ago and remember wondering why it didn't become a thing. It looked great!

I agree, trends tend to come/go. Raising the vehicle way up in the air would adversely affect how it rides and make it more likely to tip over. Cars really low to the ground seems like you would always be dragging the bottom of the vehicle on the ground. Even some production vehicles, you have to be careful going over speed bumps or up/down an inclined driveway so as not to damage something. Have seen some vehicle with oversize tires and they just look strange to me, but to each their own.

I found that Cylon car, it's a Lexus:

Coming from Toledo, Home of the Jeep Wranger, it is HUGE around here. A couple weeks ago downtown held a large Jeep Fest and they go all out. And I can't complain - everyone buying Wranglers are paying my bills and supporting my Disney addiction :) so Thank You and keep it up!

especially off-roading.
I always find it funny that almost every suv or truck commercial shows them racing through forests on narrow trails, climbing dangerous looking mountain roads, frolicking in the deserts or racing along the beach, dodging waves coming up on the sand. And for the old-fashion, 'regular' cars, those are so often portrayed being driven through crowded city streets in a Steve McQueen Bullitt-like fashion. Most car, truck, suv commercials depict driving and driving activities that I have never seen nor heard of anybody I know doing. Everybody I know drive the smaller or jumbo suv's, trucks and 'regular' cars in a rather mundane, normal fashion, going from point A to B, stuck in traffic, looking for parking places, etc. But I guess those ads get the juices flowing as to what powers these vehicles theoretically might possess and people buy into them. Or else, they would change the themes.
Also, some guy in a Jeep last night was absolutly blinding me in my rear-view mirror with his bright-as-a-thousand-suns headlights.
I've never understood why some drivers drive with their fog lights on all the time. :confused3 Fog lights are not supposed to be on when it is not foggy out. And, when it is foggy, the regular lights should not be on, sort of defeats the concept of fog lights. And then we have those with their wuss lights on all the time, the off-road lights that would be used when really no other cars are around. I think it is a case of 'my lights are brighter and more irritating to others than yours are'. Fog light when not being used in the fog and the wuss off-road lights are blinding to say the least.

I see plenty of pickup trucks on the roads which are depicted in commercials driving through the elements while Bob Seger sings. Yet in actuality, many I see from my vehicle look as though the bed will never see anything heavier than a bag of groceries. And that's ok, to each their own.

The one common denominator I see in pickup trucks on the road is how amazingly few of them were manufactured without a blinker! Surely it has to be a vehicle defect, because all truck drivers would never be that careless!

Yeah, I always wonder about those big work trucks that people buy only for them to never do any work. I mean, whatever, but why spend the money on all that power and hauling capacity if you're never gonna haul anything?

It looks like some Jeep owners suffer from the same malady as many 4x4 and all Corvette drivers.

That's weird! I've never seen them in my area, and I think I'd notice because I've been drooling over Jeeps left and right ever since getting upgraded to one when we rented a car to drive the Pacific Coast Highway in 2020. (though if Ford can get their act together on the Bronco, I'd still take that over any Jeep). I know there's a whole set of quirks among Jeep owners but the angry-Jeep look doesn't seem to have arrived in my neck of the woods yet.

I was also told by a jeep owner they wave :wave2: to each other on the road. Just like people who ride motorcycles.

Yep, It’s true. We do wave and some people leave rubber duckies on other Jeeps if you see one in a parking lot.

We’ve had a Wrangler since 2013 and go to a local Jeepfest every Labor Day weekend (it’s a charity for a local sheriff’s boys ranch) and have a blast on the trails and obstacle course. The one this year had registered Jeeps from as far away as Washington State and we drove the trails with a friend of a friend who drove down from Connecticut (we live in Georgia).

Our Jeep does have the angry bird eyes, it was a newish trend when we purchased it and our kids thought it looked fun; it is an after market item. We’ve also done a few more modifications: changed the bumpers to some a friend made for us, added some lights, lifted it and replaced the step rails with heavier duty ones.

Wrangler owners are 100% a cult, but in the best possible sense.

Jeeps are probably angry because they need therapy. Or some cuddle time with a dog or cat.

...the cars, not the owners

I completely agree they look angry from the picture posted but honesty kinda cool IMO too. My car was used when I bought it and had a black car bra on it..that has stayed even though it's seen better days. Someone is out there probably laughing everytime they see it.

We test drove a Jeep wasn't impressed and said not for us but yes like a few other cars there's a huge following and defense. You'll probably never hear me defend my ZX2. I love her and she's a good cheap enough car but she's got her issues that's for sure. Funny talking about fog lights I've only got one, the other one (which is sitting somewhere in my house) had the plastic piece break off years ago.

All Jeeps are one of the brands people like to personalize, they have more accessories than any other brand.

Not all vehicles are equipped with "Fog" lights. Some of the lights you see in the lower part of the car are actually "Driving" lights and illuminate the road further ahead and low. Fog lights illuminate the road up close and wide. It's easy to tell the difference by looking at the reflector inside. I deal with vehicle lighting on a daily basis.
Thew short wide drawing is a Fog light pattern. The long slim one is a driving light pattern.
