Why are hours extended Feb. 17-24, '08?

I have plans on taking a short trip (20th-24th) with just my girls during that week. I figured it'd be a great time and crowds would be low (they usually are in Feb.). But when I looked at the calender it appears that they are extending the hours quite a bit which generally means higher crowds. What I can't figure out is why? Does anyone happen to know what's going on that week? TIA!

Many schools now take the entire week off for Presidents Day, so many head to Disney with that same thought. Disney has been responding by increasing hours and raising the rates at the resort hotels for the week.

Ahhh I see. My daughter's school district doesn't get President's Day off so it never even crossed my mind. Hrmmm. Wonder what crowds would be like then. It's either then or spring break week (week before easter) which I'm sure is pure hell. Decisions, decisions.

Go with the February week. It will be more crowded than a typical Feb week, but NOTHING like spring break. We try to go that week in February every year or two and its really not that bad.

I have been both weeks mentioned. The February week is much less crowded than Spring Break. If you get there early and use FP, you should be able to do everything that you want.

No matter what is going on, it won't be as busy as spring break.

Some northern states get a week off in February. I have family in NY that get that week off. It still won't be nearly too busy.

We'll definitely be going then. We went spring break week about 4 years ago and it was awful. So I'm sure it'll be much better, even if the crowds are higher. I just hope the weather will be decent.
