Thats also one way to contain the virus. Closing boarders is another.

IMO it’s better to go too far trying to contain the virus than not doing enough.

In NYC the bars and restaurants are closed. All attractions are closed. Hotel occupancy was at 20 percent as of Monday and dropping. So yes hotels are officially open as they aren’t going to through guests who may not be able to travel out on the street. But the reality is they are pretty close to being closed

They are doing it here in NJ. All bars, casino's, gyms, movie theaters have been told to close. Restaurants can only do takeout or delivery and I do believe this is the same in PA, NY and CT. Also all public and private schools have been told to close.

Disney is also different than regular hotels as they hire international and college CM's. They have a lot of them working the resorts also and took the initiative to follow the colleges and moving them out as their living conditions are more like dorms. Multiple people in small apartments. So their staffing was significantly decreased.

Thanks. Then it definitely makes more sense to close the resorts. Even though they maybe should have done it sooner.

The recommendation is 10 people or less and they are focusing right now on a two week duration. However, the Surgeon General this morning said that they believe it will probably be an even longer time than that to be truly effective.

Also, Disney loses 50 million a day for every day it is closed. It is absolutely in their best interest to stay open.

Finally, most of the shutdowns are occurring for perception sake--people will go if it is open because they will think it "must be okay."

I highly doubt that many are still in "travel mode" so maybe the other hotels are remaining open for people who are kind of stuck in a living/staying situation there. i.e. Long term stays, people moving.... some are still having to navigate through life because situations dictate it.

Maybe you didn’t notice it (don’t expect your kind, that’s shames others to do so) but this is MY thread I started it. So if you feel that whatever I’m writing is dumb maybe YOU should walk away and not me.

I am the victim of YOU shaming me not the other way around. You are the kind of person that apparently get off trying to get others to feel bad by shaming them.

I understand they want to avoid the liability and close the resorts. But for this to have any real affect on the spreading of the virus shouldn’t all hotels and resorts close In Orlando and other places for that matter.

First and foremost they closed for public safety and liability... also I think the writing was on the wall that attendance would tank anyway and the cost to operate would soon outpace park revenue. It seems like the responsible thing to do for both health and business reasons.

When you say put up do you mean the closure of the parks or businesses etc?

Everyone is at risk with this virus however the mortality rate is much higher the older you are. Think I read 60+ Is those that need to steer clear of the virus as they are in higher risk.

For us we are under a shelter-in-place order and are not leaving the house except for grocery shopping or appointments we can’t miss. Kids are home and we’re WFH. All non-essential gatherings of any size are banned. This is serious and I really hope as many people as possible take it seriously. Our healthcare systems will be easily overwhelmed with the rate at which this is spreading and the amount of people that will need hospitalization. Our friends in the medical field and at the CDC are very concerned about shortages of I.C.U. beds and ventilators as well as personal protective equipment. Triage decisions like what Italy is facing will be brutal, and we’re already ahead of their curve. When we run out of beds and medical resources, not everyone will be able to get treatment that need it, whether it's for COVID-19 or other health issues.

Children will need I.C.U. beds and respirators too. They are not completely unaffected.

I think Disney did the responsible thing by closing and honestly I wish they had closed a little sooner. Countries that have this more under control were able to do so by acting strongly and swiftly.
