I was just wondering why the idngs are so high for stl to mco. I have seen so many other places and the ding rate is so low. The lowest we were able to get was $87 one way. A long time ago I seen some good fares from St. Louis but not any more. This ding rate is not much lower than the internet rate. Just wondering if anyone knew why and do you think they will go down.
Thank You

JMHO but STL, in addition to Orlando customers starting out there, is a kind of "hub" or gathering place for folks heading to Orlando from other points of origin. As such, flights from STL are fairly full to start with, and there is less need for SWA to offer bargain rates to fill the aircraft. Bargain rates still appear from time to time, especially during the slow times at WDW---which is when we normally go. With few exceptions, through patience and luck, we rarely pay over $150 for a round trip ticket and fairly frequently can get it close to $100. That's an uninfomed opinion, but the most likiely conclusion I've been able to come up with.... :smooth:

Good question! I keep a close watch on the STL Dings and haven't seen any bargains in quite a while. I went to Orlando in October and was able to take advantage of a great DING. Haven't seem many since.

Because they don't need to just lately. They have been as low as $49 at times, but the planes are flying full these days, so they don't need to cut prices to the bone to fill the seats. There have been a lot of Dings to WPB lately, which is the only Florida market that doesn't seem to be that popular for STL flyers.

Also, AA has backed way off their MCO marketing here, so there is very little competition on the Orlando route. SWA has almost all of it.

They had one from STL to MCO about 3 weeks ago for $215 round trip. before that the best you could get was $345.

We booked on American for $245 about a month ago. This was a good deal considering American was at $400.

We were ready to drive again, untill the american deal. We leave this sunday 11-19.

Southwest is now booking til early May - only $109 during Spring Break Times..... Not bad at all!!!

They are not very good to Orlando - but the Dings are excellent to Ft. Lauderdale. I'm just planing on coming into Ft. Lauderdale next summer, staying a couple days - then drive up (about 3 hours) to Orlando. Every time I see a ding (which is often) its almost always $69 or less. DH and I have friends that live there and we have flown twice to Ft. Lauderdale on a ding - both times only $59 each way - You can't beat that price.

Right now - you can book through May to Ft. Lauderdale for only $79 each way!!!
