Why are ADRs so difficult to get?

We are traveling November 28-December 4th and I am having an extremely hard time finding any dinner ADRs. Am I missing something or doing something wrong? Is it easier to call and speak to someone bc I am not finding any availability online. At all.

Help!

Like what kind of food/resturants. I just checked Nov 28 at 7pm and it listed a bunch of them. I looked at 5:30pm and you can reserve almost anything.

Unless you're looking to book the extremely popular places, there are a TON of ADR's for that week. We're going 11/23-12/1 and i've had no issues making changes, with the exception of 'Ohana. But that one goes pretty much when ADR's open.

I've tried booking online and keep getting no availability. Do you put in a specific time or do you just specify "dinner"? I'm trying to work ADRs to sort of mesh with EMH and really am not having much luck. I've tried Teppen Edo, Ohana, and even Garden Grill. Perhaps it's bc we have 8 people? Should I try calling instead?

8 people is certainly going to impact availability.

What I would do in your shoes, is to not specify any restaurant and use a 7pm time (this will search from 5pm to 9pm). This should give you a list per day of all available places for you to pick and choose from. It's a bit easier this way than trying to select a place, find it full, select a different place, find it full, and so on.

Last fall when we had 8 people in order to reserve ADR"s at the signature resturants I had to call the resturants themselves and I could only get sitting at 5:30.

Goodluck

to me is always easier to call adn talk to them to make ADR'S even if change them I call then they will sent you the entire list on e mail

I'm really late on making my October ADRs and despite entering my vacation package over and over on the website, they never can retrieve it.

Because of this, I'm very reluctant to make dining and dinner show reservations on line and want to talk to a real live person.

Where do I call to make ADRs and talk to a real live person?

Also, what are the hours real live people are available to talk?

Thanks for any help.

I have a feeling it's the # in your party that's hurting things. We were a party of 8 several times back in 2010. Any time I had a problem, I booked us as 2 parties of 4. THe ADRs were usually w/in 5-15 min of each other.

Calling vs. online is also a matter of personal preference. I find it much easier and efficient to use the online system. I just like to keep checking the site if I can't first get what I want.

You may also see things open up as you get closer to your dates. Things open up all the time ... especially closer to travel time. :thumbsup2

The only reason you need to link your resort reservation is if you are booking prepaid meals/dinner shows and you are on the dining plan. If you aren't on the dining plan just book them online.

Are you making sure that you are putting in your arrival date after you put in your confirmation number? I was overlooking that when I was first trying to make my ADR's and once I realized that, I had no problem.

As for calling, the phone lines open at 6:00am - Florida time - and are open daily. I'm not sure when they close. The number is 407-WDW-Dine (407-939-4363)

Well Teppan Edo and GG are Candlelight processional places and they may be filled. If you do like 8ish you may have more luck Try diferent times even if the computer says the window is from 6-9 even moving 30min sometimes opens up TONS of availability. I have 11 some nights and 9 other nights. I am right there with you with some are hard to get. YOu could split them up and do 4 and 4 or however they are

That's part of your problem - your 180 day window opened over a month ago - most people smart enough to mesh EMHs w/ dinning choices are also likely to have booked the most popular restaurants in parks w/ EMH the minute their booking window opened up. Ohana is notoriously popular plus as it's 1 ts and no credit card guarentee required it's probably totally booked - your best bet on this one is to pick a back up ADR in a MK resort or the MK itself, book it and then keep trying for Ohana to open up (the new Be Our Guest in MK is rumoured to be opening for ADRs 8/4/12 - so you might try to grab it when it opens or maybe across the way at Whispering Canyon @ WL)
Garden Grill is also a 1 ts and very popular don't know about Teppan Edo - I'd guess based on the crowds I always see there that it's popular as well, so book back ups in Epcot - lots to chose from (I personally think Chefs de France is a great, convenient choice) and keep checking to see if your preferred places become available.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll enjoy whatever choices you end up with.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I wish that we had known we were going last month when our 180 day window opened up, but we just decided about two weeks ago to definitely go. I did manage to make some ADRs so we should be all set

As others have said make back up reservations and keep checking. Once Be Our Guest opens I am sure that people will be not only booking there but canceling their ADR's elsewhere. Good luck and hope that BOG opens prior to your trip.
