:wave2: I really don't mind. I like being there for the people who don't have anyone to be with on the holidays. I'll see my family this weekend.

Who else, and how do you feel about it?

I am, but only for a cpl of hrs...

They fired my coworker who was supposed to have worked, and we need to have the coverage..so I agreed to come in for a few hours..I am already getting holiday pay, so this is all just gravy..

What stinks is the drive in/home...takes almost an hour..UGH..So I will come in around 8a, work till around 11, then head home, pick up DH, and head to Disney area.

I dont mind to much either..Now Christmas..thats a whole diff issue

I wish I was, so I could get out of the family gatherings that I don't want to go to. :)

I work for a charity and Thanksgiving is our busiest day of the year. I'll be working and bringing my partner with me to help.

I'm working! The horses never take a day off from eating, pooping etc, so it's just another day on the farm for us!

I was supposed to, but my partner traded with me for New Year's. :thumbsup2

He technically got the better deal, as Thanksgiving is usually very quiet, and the "alcohol-related" holidays can be pretty busy, but we don't really do much at home for New Year's and we do lots for Thanksgiving. My kids wanted me to be off. Actually, they wanted me to be off for both, but life doesn't work that way.

Count me in! I'm working 7p to 7a on the oncology unit. We are all bringing food in and having a potluck:)

I'm working 7pm-7am tomorrow night. I'll get up around 10am, make my dinner items, head out to MILs for food at 2, and hope to be back for a short nap by 4pm. We are only required to work 2 winter holidays- this year for me it's Thanksgiving and New Years day...not too bad of a deal.

I will be. It's a short shift (4 hours) but I have to be there at 4am! It's all good though. Black Friday is the shift I'm scared of (retail ;)).

7a to 7p in a 11 bed ICU, for time and a half. Currently awaiting the turkey and all the fixing to get done for Thanksgiving dinner a day early. Leftovers for work tomorrow.

31st consecutive Thanksgiving I've worked. 31st consecutive Thanksgiving my wife has worked.
28th consecutive year our Thanksgiving will be on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

In our jobs, Thanksgiving is a holiday, a holiday isn't a day off.

I'm not, but my son is. He's a young police officer and has been working 14 hours days (actually mostly nights) all week. I am going to fix him some turkey, etc. before he goes to work late tomorrow morning, and we are sending homemade treats to the station. He's working Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, too, which he could have requested off, but he says that's okay so some of the other officers can spend it with their kids. He's getting married in the spring, and some day another officer will do it for him. He works with a wonderful group of men and women, and they are really there for each other:thumbsup2

Thank you to all the folks who go to work on Thanksgiving!

Im working a double! I work in a hospital. They dont close. Im sending my husband to see his family. Im ok with working. Its a good pay day!

Working! My family's celebration isn't until the evening, I enjoy being with the people I serve, and I get a shift differential that will help fund drinks of the day on my dcl cruise. :)

I will be working 7p-7a. I work for 911 so we are open 24/7/365. At least this year I get Christmas off.

I didn't mind working when I worked at Blockbuster. Our customers would come in and bring us left overs from Thanksgiving! :thumbsup2
