Who's working over Xmas and New Year?

Our factory close on Wednesday this week and we return on Jan 4th, so we don't do too badly. We're in the manufacturing industry and most of our industry always have a Christmas close-down.

My Mum on the other hand is in Christmas Day and over the Christmas period, she works with people who have brain injuries and some aren't going home over Christmas and need their coaches to be there, which is what my Mum does. So I'm on Christmas dinner duty for a late one around 4pm when my Mum arrives home :goodvibes She'll probably have more fun with those guys than us anyway :lmao:

I work in the delivery suite at the local hospital and have dipped

if I was at work I would finish night shift Xmas eve then back on the Monday late, then early day new year day. Making the most as next year I'm in

dh is working nights new years eve, but is off christmas eve christmas day boxing day so Im happy lol

we were not planning on doing anything on new years eve anyway

I finished yesturday and retrun to the office on the 4th Jan so a nice long break for me. DW on the other hand is working all the way through the Christmas holidays this year, shes a Biomedical Scientist at the local hospital and is one of the many forgoten NHS staff. It's not just Doctors and Nurses that keep hospitals running.

She finishes at 4pm tonight (Christmas Eve) and is working a night shift on Christmas Day in work at 8pm and so sleeping Boxing Day. Then back in the Lab on day shifts on Bank Holiday Monday and Tuesday and for the rest of the week.

So no Christmas holiday for her this year. But she loves her job so does not mind it too much. Unfortunatley just becasue its Christmas people do not stop being ill and the hospital laboratories need to run 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
