Who's watching the Inauguration today?

I thought his speech was very moving.

Poor bloke though he's got a lot of work to do - I certainly don't envy him or his family.

Tammy

Yes,me+my girls watched it today. And no you're not the only one who thought it sounded like our anthem.
Fantastic speech.
Just watching on skynews now as there having there luncheon.
A senior senator has collapsed at the lunch-no-one knows who yet.x.

ETA--Ted Kennedy is the senator taken ill+taken to hospital, after suffering a seizure/convulsions at the table,no doubt due to his brain cancer-poor man.x.

The important question is, is he actually President? Surely making a mistake (and I think actually not saying the word "faithfully") during the oath of office, must mean he's not really the Pres? If so, I think the only thing to do is offer my services to the good old US of A:rotfl2:

Aha I think you'll find he slipped faithfully in at the end.

Just watched Obama:His Story which was really interesting.

Tammy

Not sure about the poem though, didn't even rhyme! .

Poems are made to make you think and contomplate, they dont all have to ryhme.loved it as it made me think(thought the pastors was more like a poem thougth)

I took the day off work to watch it - we Americans don't have a lot of historical ceremonies, so it's nice to see it when it happens. I didn't watch George W's - too depressing!

Here's a link for anyone who is interested to My Country 'Tis of Thee, which sounds like God Save the Queen (basically, 'cause we nicked it!).

Hopefully Ted Kennedy will make a recovery from this afternoon and it won't set him back in his fight against brain cancer. I'm a Bostonian and therefore it's in my blood to regard the Kennedys as American royalty :)

Was a bit of shock to hear that it was Teddy Kennedy who'd had a problem, hopefully something he'll bounce back from it - must've been a long and cold day for him, along with everyone else.

With "Hail to the Chief" do they play it every time he comes back from the toilet
If you wanted royalty why gain indipendance and set up a republic?

I thought he looked really well this afternoon but as you said it was a long day and did look very cold :guilty:

Reuters are saying that his office are saying it was down to fatigue. So, hopefully not too serious.

Was it a seizure Matt?? Thought I might have heard that was what happend.
Yes it was Sue, happened over lunch apparently which was closed to cameras so there is no footage of it.

Also, another Senator collapsed (cannot remember his name though) but he is 92, so I think age may have something to do with it!

Hey all. Thanks for watching today. It looks like a great start. Here's hoping for the best. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Paul,
Our little displays of royal treatment are given to people who can be kicked out at the next election. Even if they're great and we love them they can only stay for 8 years. I believe you're stuck with your royalty a bit longer, is that not right? Although we enjoy a little pageantry every now and then, a time limit is always involved. As to the really fancy trappings of royalty, we reserve titles and rhinestone tiaras for very special people. Almost every county in every state has their own queen connected to some agricultural product--Peach Queen, Strawberry Queen, Sweet Potato Queen. Elegant affairs, these coronations. Maybe you'll get to see one some day. There must be a dozen annual events of this type within driving distance of Orlando. Who knows, you might help choose a Queen.

I watched it, don't envy the man at all. He has alot of mess to sort out and thats alot of pressure on someone. I wish him good luck for the future though. As i said yesterday 'he only looks about 30' and my mom said 'he'll age by 20 years by next year'.

Don't forget Dairy Queen, Susan:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I was at work but got to see bits of it on my break & when I got home later in the evening.

I wish the man well for the future. He looked very proud & happy when taking the oath:goodvibes

You know i have been watching a little of this again on the news this morning+the 'joke' is,is he REALLY president-because of fluffing his lines.Charlie Wolf-Political Correspondent,is hinting+making comments about this-but he is also blaming the 'guy' who spoke the words Obama had to recite,as mucking it up as well!!!!!!!!.x.

I watched it from 4pm, all evening on Fox News and found it fascinating. He has a hard task ahead of him, especially in these trying times. :thumbsup2
