whos' watched 'SUPERSIZE ME' ?

I saw it last year and have tried to avoid fast food ever since!

I saw it when it came out, the 2 people I was with swore of McDonalds, I on the other hand wanted some french fries ;)

I've seen it and it really made me think about some of the garbage we eat. DH and I rarely eat fast food now. I also liked his short-lived tv show, 30 Days. The first episode on minimum wage was excellent.

I've watched it several times. I think it's a great documentary.

I'm sure you'll get people who think it does nothing more than point out the obvious: Fast food is not very good for you. I worked at McDonald's as a teen and you'd be surprised how many people really do eat there every day. They always ordered a Diet Coke with their supersized #4 Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese Extra Value Meal.

Edit to add: I very rarely eat fast food anymore, maybe once every three months. The last Big Mac Meal I ordered, I could only eat half. I just started feeling very sick and couldn't finish it. That kind of food can be a real shock to the system to people who don't normally eat it. I think that's why Morgan's weight gain and health problems were so prevalent.

i havent had fast food since but we never were big McD's patrons to start with.

Some of us just like the taste of Diet Coke better. :) :)

I saw it. It was interesting, but it hasn't changed my eating habits. I'm never going to eat McD's for 30 straight days, but then again, I think I could have figured that one out without the aide of the documentary. :teeth:

I found watching what the junior high kids were REALLY eating at school interesting. I didn't see the entire movie, but I did watch some of it with my 7th grader. I told him that he better not be using his lunch money to buy two bags of chips and a chocolate milk.

Saw it about 3-4 months ago and havn't been back to fast food since. My DW didn't see it but we talked about it and we havn't even brought the kids to fast food since then. After watching it just brought to light how terrible I would feel even after just eating there once so finaily wised up and stoppd going. It really costs no more, in fact it's cheaper to eat the right way. We try and plan out the week when we shop on the weekends rather than just saying "oh we'll just wing it" and it's worked much better

Saw it, liked it... and thought that it should be nominated for 'Best Documentary' Academy Award, which it was. (didn't win)

Just gave it to DG Trina over weekend!

Here here ;)

I saw it and thought it was very good. I don't eat a lot of fast food but sometimes I have a hankering for a double cheeseburger from Burger King (and, I get it with a Diet Coke) :)

We both watched it, and we've cut down on fast food, and try to make better choices when we do eat fast food.

I'm a trans-fat psycho, have been ever since I discovered that by hydrogenating fats it prevents your body from digesting it correctly and it gets into your bloodstream when it shouldn't, so have always avoided the fries. My kids have been able to say ' no partially hydrogenated soybean oil" since they were two.

I've got a jones for the egg mc muffins, though.

So, we eat fast food maybe once or twice a month.

Fantastic movie!

Our school had a regular school lunch, but they also sold Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.

I had a slice of pizza and a large Coke almost every day. My tummy hurts just thinking about it.

Yes!!!! I'm tired of people giving me looks when I order a Diet Coke with my ice cream sundae!

As for the movie...the only thing I'll eat at McDonald's anymore are the sliced apples.

Just finished up showing Supersize Me to all my college students in my freshman composition course.

Only a handful had seen it previously. All of them seemed to enjoy it and the discussions that grew out of it.

They write their next two papers over an issue that the film touches on (and there are many.)

DS is doing his 7th grade science project ala the "Smoking Fry" (in the DVD extras). His findings are contradicting Spurlock's. The natural fries (real peeled and cut potatoes) are actually decomposing at a slightly slower rate than the genetically modified potato product from McDonalds or Sonic.

The Ore-Ida frozen variety actually are breaking down the fastest.

So, long answer, yes, I believe I may be familiar with the film. ;)

We occasionally eat at Sonic, by the way.

I have not seen the movie but a gal at work here did and told me all about it. Earlier this year on the news there was a woman who decided to do the same thing - eat at McDonalds everyday. But, she kept it under 1500 calories a day. She ate 3 meals a day there but ate salads and grilled chicken and such. She ended up losing 30 pounds. Thought it was kind of funny. I'm sure she did it just to prove a point against that movie.

I personally did not think the movie was a good documentary. He was eating 5,000 calories a day (and had to eat McFlurry's and the other sundaes at McDoland's to get up that high) and stopped exercising. OF COURSE HE GOT SICK AND GAINED WEIGHT! It just felt that he was blaming the McDonaldn't corporation for the obesity problem in America, when of course it's not that simple. He basically is saying that we're too stupid to do the right thing for ourselves because some corporation is calling the shots. I saw some of his show on FX (30 days) and it was just as biased. So, I guess I'm not a fan of Morgan Spurlock. You know that pretty woman who does the financial reporting for NBC (Maria something), well she was the only reporter I saw that called Morgan on his 'experiment'.

I rarely eat fast food anyway, but lately I've had a craving for Chicken McNuggets. Hmmm! In moderation (i.e. no more than once a month) McDonald's isn't going to kill you. So no the movie didn't change my habits.

We've seen it and I liked it, but it was pretty gross. We don't eat much fast food and are vegetarian, so McD's is the last place I'd want to eat. We showed it to our 11 and 14yo sons which made them stop and think about how they eat.

I have heard about this too, but I'm curious to see WHAT she ate there. I'm having a hard time thinking of a breakfast, lunch, and dinner from McDonald's that would be under 1500 calories.
You would have to eat the salads minus the cheese and dressings, and perhaps a grilled chicken breast pulled out of a sandwhich coupled with Diet Coke or water. IMHO, that's *not* really McDonald's food and definitely not the way they intend you to eat it. McDonald's salads are premade, and the sandwiches come with all the fixings. It's not a buffet line to make your own creation.

I saw it in the about 6 months ago, and although I always avoided fast food restaurants I avoid it even more now. However since my kids watched it with me even they don’t want to go as often.

ETA: I hate the taste of regular soda, I been drinking diet for a long, long time now and I really like the taste. Why waste calories on something I wont enjoy in the first place.
