Who's Voting out their Rep & Senator

Think kindly of us in IL because our choices for Gov are HORRIBLE! I am seriuosly considering voting for the Green PArty Candidate as I can not condone either of the two knuckleheads the mainstream parties are fronting. I am a life-long Dem but Blago makes me nuts!

Yuck, at least we have good Senators.

I am happily voting out my representative (Ric Keller) in favor of Charlie Stuart. In the senate race, I'll be voting to keep Bill Nelson in office. Even if I didn't like him, his opponent is Katherine Harris, and there's no way I'd vote for her.

I vote pro choice and I hate the idea of being stuck with the choice of Santorum or Casey, but I really loathe Santorum so I will vote for Casey.

And I will re-elect Rendell.

Raj from the Apprentice is running to represent my district in Congress but I have no plans to vote for him.

I was in Chicago for one weekend and couldn't believe all the ads -- non-stop!

"What she was thinking?" was probably my favorite one :rotfl2:

ME TOO! We've got a lose-lose situation here in IL for Gov. I'm going to vote today... Alien Green! :thumbsup2

I've heard that 51% of IL voters are unhappy with EITHER choice. Sad.

I have two lousy candidates to choose from. I will probably vote out the incumbant because the whole Congress makes me sick. Now the Dems will take over and we will have 2 years of hearings and commitees about the failures of the last 6 years. Nothing will get done about immigration, health care, Social Security or terrorism.
Political columnists wonder why only 40% of registered voters bother to show up and vote. I can tell them why, a lack of quality candidates and a lack of belief that anything is going to get better.

Rendell's kept my taxes low and not run a deficit without creating scandals.
Since Rendell has been in office my taxes are much higher. I would balance any budget by just raising taxes. :rotfl:

I will be voting against Ed Rendell for PA governor. I used to vote for him, but since he pretty much supports illegal immigration now, I think he need to go.

Congressman Kurt Weldon needs to go.... he has had 10 terms in that office already.... way too long!

We hope to keep Weldon as he is a wonderful supporter, personally and publicly of our local fire companies :thumbsup2

Have your property taxes increased? Because that's a county issue and doesn't supply money to the state. I know there were reassessments in Allegheny County, but those were overdue. They hadn't been re-assessed in years and years.

My taxes are pretty much the same.

As far as Representative goes we have to choose a new one because the last one quit. I live in Tom DeLay's district. We have had a war going on ever since the courts ruled that the Republicans can't replace his name on the ballot. So they have decided to run out a new candidate for the office and she now has to be elected as a write in candidate. To further complicate the issue you have to vote for her twice. One in a special election to certify her as a candidate where her name will be on the ballot and again in the regular election where you will have to write her name in. I have received no less than 20 pieces of mail telling me how to vote from her campaign. To make matters worse we will be using the electronic voting machines for the first time in our district and have to spin a little wheel through the alphabet to spell it. She could no have a worse name for write in, its Shelley Sikula Gibbs. I am projecting a Democratic win for our district disipte the fact it is heavily Republican based on the difficulty of the write in process and the fact that Delay's name is still on the ballot.

Add to this the fact that out State Representative for the last two terms who was a retired teacher from our town died suddenly a couple of months ago and her name is still on the ballot. She was Republican and the local party has produced thousands of signs that say remember Glenda Dawson and vote for her on November 7. They want you to vote for her so there will have to be a special election in December to fill the position. If the Democrat wins they get the seat but if Glenda wins then they have the special election and they get to run another Republican and a chance to hold the seat.

This is a strange election for us this year.

Nope. The state tax rate is now higher than when Rendell entered office.

Our county was reasseed around 2000. Only the mils can go up now.

How lucky are you guys? Not reassesing for years and years? We get reassesed every year and usually see a 10% annual increase in our property's value. Combined school, county, and city taxes add up to about 3% of assesed values so we see a 10% increase almost every year.

In PA they can only reassess if they do the entire country. When we build our home in 1991 we were given an assessment that would have been the price it would have sold for in 1960. The townships that were getting the new homes all sued the country to show that their assessments were too high for the new home. The townships won and the county did a new assessment in ~1995. Our taxes decreased. When they alter the assessment the mils have to be altered to get the exact same amount of taxes. I forget why the did the one ~2000. But that one did not change us at all.

You should have seen the uproar from the "older" residents whose assessments went up. Basically the new homes were paying way too much of the tax burden. Many saw their property taxes double.

We have a senator (Maria Cantwell -D) and a rep (Dave Reichert -R) up for our district.

I'm voting to keep Cantwell and voting to oust Reichert. We have ads running against Darcy Burner who's up against Reichert saying she has no public service experience, but the guy they have up against Cantwell doesn't either. Irritates me to no end!

As a registered independent, I have never voted a straight party ticket. Until this year. I am so disgusted with the President thinking he is above the constitution and the republicans doing nothing to rein him in, that it is time to give the democrats a chance.

As long as the name has a "D" after it, they will get my vote, whether or not an incumbent. Even if the "D" was a goat, it would get my vote this year.

I fully realize this might stagnate the government for 2 years and little will get done. But at least it will put the brakes on the current administration and hopefully hold them in check till we can vote in the proper people in 2008, both democrat and republican.

In Texas they reassess every year and the 10% cap is only applicable to the home you have your homestead exemption on. Vacation homes, rental properties and commercial properties are all fair game to increase as much as they say the market has increased. The Houston area has had property taxes more than double in the last seven years. I have friends who have been forced to sell their beach houses because they see as much as a 50 to 60% assessment increase in one year. Since 2% of the 3% total tax is school taxes the school districts here have seen huge increases in their budgets and are still saying they don't have enough money. They have gotten a 10% annual increase every year for more than 7 years and yet they still have not figured out its about how you spend the money not how much you get.

Considering my Rep is William Jefferson, the Dem with $90,000 in his freezer...yes Iwill be voting him out of office.

I thought the same and was worried nothing would get done, but then again I thought "well what is getting done now? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING" :sad2:

I hope the R lose both chambers, but I think the R will pull a bag of tricks and keep a slim majority in both.
