We are going during Easter and I am considering telling our DS (7) on Christmas morning. Any ideas?? I was thinking a gift bag full of Disney stuff like the crocs, gift card, etc.

Me!!!

We are going the end of January. I was thinking a scavenger hunt of some kind. I guess it also depends on the kids ages. Mine are 6 & 7. I would love to hear what others have done.

We're going in August, and will tell them Christmas morning. I bought Mickey Mouse luggage....big case, carryon, tote bag, makeup case that all "nest" together. We're putting it in one of those giant gift bags. In the innermost piece, they'll find the planning DVD and, if they arrive in time, the personalized park maps. The planning DVD will have a note on it with our travel dates. We also have Mickey Mouse calling the house that day to tell them.

I set up one of those free phone calls. Now I just need to make sure it's DD who answers the phone. :-)

We're announcing a Disney World trip on Christmas. I've picked up/ordered a few things to wrap up as the "gift". The thing is, I don't want to spend much more money. We've already dropped a load on the flight/lodgings/park tickets themselves. We've ordered the planning DVD and the maps -- hope they come in time. I've got disposable cameras to include and I've picked up some Mickey Head paint samples from Home Depot that I might get crafty with. Oh, and I've got some pins to throw in.

I'm looking for creative and cheap suggestions!

Just came to me... take a sentence like "Mickey Mouse will see you in March" or Disney World March 4th-11th or Wilderness Lodge, Magic Kingdom, etc

Put each word on a different sheet of paper and wrap each in a gift box, each kid gets an equal number of gift boxes and as they unwrap them they can start to put the puzzle together, you can make this as easy or hard as the kids ages. Or maybe the final easy words in each stocking ( we open those last in our house)...........

We are heading down in Feb for our 3rd trip to the world, and each time it's been a surprise for our girls. The first year, my oldest dd was 6 so she was doing some reading, so I put a note in a box that said "We are going to Disney". She figured it out in a hurry as she continued through the box of Disney goodies to keep busy with on the way down.
The 2nd time we did a 7 day land & sea package and our TA made up a word search for the girls to do. With words like Disney , Mom, Dad, both of their names, ship, cabin, etc,,, When they were all done, I told them to read the words out loud, and it basically told them we were all going to Disney and then on a Disney Cruise. This year I bought a lot of Disney goodies again, as well as Disney Clothes, and I'm putting them in a huge Disney Gift Bag, and at the bottom of the bag is a Fairy Godmailer letter, inviting them back, as well as a letter from the other family we are going with(both DD's best friends are in this family). It will be a blast. As this is our gift to the girls for Christmas, and most of the stuff under the tree will be from Santa, I'm thinking of hanging on to the Disney gift until after supper when all of our family is here, and putting the bags at the back of the tree, and having them open it with everyone here. I'll tell them they must have got missed. I've hung on this long (1 year of planning) what's a few more hours!!

Wow, I just came on here to ask what others had done and a post was already here! LOL!

My 3 kids are getting that as their gift from us, too. I was going to wrap the Pal Mickey that I got them and labeling it as for all of them. But I don't know what else to do. I have their tickets, but don't want to give them to them, maybe make copies? :confused3 My 3 year olds are going to have to have it explained to them, anyway, since we've never gone.

Kellia---We've got twins, too!! They will only be 13 months when we go to Disney. Of course, this trip is mainly for our 7 year old, but I can't wait to see the babies reactions to Disney magic.

Thanks everybody for the great ideas!! Where do you get the Disney luggage??

How do you set up the call??? This sounds great!

We are - also an Easter Trip! My dd's will open a gift box with a note inviting them visit Mickey as well as a few Disney things I picked up. I got some light colored really cute hats at the Disney store, 2 for $10.00!! One has a jeweled mickey and the other a tinker bell and two sharpies for autographs, one gold and one silver. I also ordered them some trading pins from pincastle. We have set up the Mickey call as well but I don't know what time its coming so the cat may already be out of the bag by then.

We are telling our boys Christmas morning too! I am so excited and can hardly wait. This has been the hardest secret to keep. They are 5yr and 18mo so the youngest wont understand what the big deal is! I swiped their stuffed Mickey's from their shelves in their rooms (still haven't noticed) and we will put those in gift bags along with a sweatshirt for each of them that I found that says: My first trip to Walt Disney World, a Mickey t-shirt for each of them too. When our 5yr old asks why they are getting their own Mickey's for a gift my dh is going to ask them, how about we go see Mickey at his house? Or something along those lines. The surprise was supposed to be for me too but a family member ended up spilling the beans to me 2mo ago so I'm just going to act suprised. My MIL is coming with us (she knows though) so I bought her a stuffed Minnie and have that in a gift bag. When we go over on Christmas we are bringing it with us saying Santa left it at our house for her to open. My ds is going to be so thrilled that she is coming with us.
We also set up for the phone call although we rearranged our Christmas plans and wont be home most of the day. Hopefully he calls when ds can answer it.

My kids will be opening up PAL MICKEY with an itinerary attached. Once they get over the initial excitement, they will be opening things like autograph book, Mickey Suitcase, custom travel journal, princess costume.....
Then... they will open a dolphin themed toy with the next itinerary on it - for the Disney Cruise!!!! Once they get over this big excitement we'll tell them that their aunt, uncle and cousins are all coming too! I M SO EXCITED

This will be our first surprise trip but not our first Disney trip. We leave Sunday. I am going to tell them they can open 1 present Sunday morning. It is a Princess camera and there is a paper with a note saying they are going on a treasure hunt to guess their big gift. The first clue is we will take lots of pictures (goes with the camera :rotfl:). It gives directions to the next clue which is a list of our cousin's names (they will be meeting us there) with directions to the 3rd clue. The 3rd clue is "big airplane" and I've wrapped Minnie wallets with their Disney dollars in them. The 4th clue says Daddy has packed the car and we are going on a fun trip. We are leaving RIGHT now open your last gift and see if you can guess where we are going. The last gift is a Pal Mickey holding autograph books and pens. At that point, it is off to the airport.
