Who's telling their kid's at Christmas about WDW trip?

We're giving them the trip as their christmas present from us. We've gotten them some new disney outfits and some toys. Than we've wrapped up a big box from Mom and Dad with the label open last on it. Inside we've included some disney colouring books and winnie the pooh markers and princess crayons and a few other things found at the buck store. We wrapped up each day of our vacation (My 9 and 7 year old are noturious planners). We've included pic's of the park we're going to and the resurants we have booked.

Santa is giving them tickets to the P&P party. Each person going (my Mom included since she has no idea either) has a costume wrapped up with their tickets and they're all wrapped up in a big box with the label save for last. It's hiding at my Mom's house and she has no idea that she has a princess costume in there since it's all wrapped up.

I did this last year. We were going to WDW for New Years. I nestled several boxes inside of each other and in the last box, I put a banner that said, "Merry Christmas. You're going to WDW." My DS loved it, and saved it.

We are going on our first Disney trip next summer and telling the kids at Christmas. I have a box with 2 books(Disney World 2007-Fodors, and Walt Disney World for Kids by Kids), 3 little stuffed Mickeys, a couple disposable cameras for the older 2(10 and 8), and a little Disney photo album(to put his autographs and photos of him with characters) for our 3 yo.

We're surprising our boys with a trip in Feb., and telling them on Christmas Eve (with both grandmothers present). Each of them will open a different clue...my 3 year old will open an Animal Kingdom sing-along dvd, my 4 year old will open the Disney vacation planning dvd, and my 8 year old will open Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for kids and a WDW travel journal that I printed out for him...with the dates of our vacation and the names both of their grandmothers who are going with us! I'm so excited, I can't wait to tell them!!!

I'm surprising my kids on Christmas morning with a present that will contain a Stuffed Mickey and Minnie holding a photo I took of the kids in front of the Castle. I added text which says "We are Going to Disney in August 2007"

I also bought some stickers and stuff I found at Target's Dollar bins and got them each some Disney Dollars at the Disney Store. Probably will arrange for the Mickey phone call also.

Thing is, when we were ending our September trip they asked when they could come back to WDW. We told them it would have to be in a couple of years. But dad can't wait that long, I had too much fun. So I'm doing the trip for THEM next August.

Substitute "ending our August trip" for September, and substitute "mom" for "...but dad can't wait that long", and that is exactly our situation :rotfl:

I was 9 when my Grandmother did this to me. She gave me all kinds of gifts, Disney sweatshirts, games, everything Disney related. I didn't even get that it had any relevance until she went out to her car to get a gift she had forgotten.

When I opened it, it was FULL of brochures and a letter on top. They had me read it outloud. It gave all the details of the trip! Best Christmas surprise ever :)

Every Christmas we give the kids an ornament for the tree. The ornament is something special that happened to each of them during the year or represented a part of thier personality.

One year we planned a surprise trip for the kids with us leaving two days after Christmas. We gave them each a Disney Ornament with the year on it. The boys opened thiers up first, looked at them and were like "this is nice" and moved on to the next trip. Our daughter after opening hers realized immediately we were going to Disney! But the big surprise (which took everything my wife had in her not to slip) was telling them we were leaving in 48 hours!

That trip may go down as our best family vacation ever! We've been to Disney, but for whatever reason that trip is the most memorable!

We're telling the kids about the trip at Christmas. We just received the vacation guide DVD and I'm going to have them open it up together, and we'll tell them then. I CANNOT wait to see their reactions. :D

We are going on the Disney cruise 2 weeks after Christmas which the kids already know about but we are doing a couple days in WDW after with a character breakfast and the kids DON'T know about that part. I can't wait to tell them.

We are going in Feb and it has been horrible trying to keep the secret.
My daughter is 7 and we are taking our 7yr old ex-foster daughter also.
She is coming over with her DM this Wed and I am telling them then. I have a bunch of the paint samples from Home Depot (where DH works!) and I am going to write clues on each of them and have a scavenger hunt. With some of the clues I will have small presents like Princess candy necklaces or a little Disney flashlight.
I haven't decided the end yet though. I was thinking of an invitation from Cinderella for dinner because I have an ADR for that at the GF. I also included a calender with the dates counting down to the trip and a planning cd.
I hope they are excited because I have been for the past 4 months! :Pinkbounc

For Christmas we are surprising our 5 and 3 year old by wrapping up the countdown chain link. It's links of paper (like you would put on your chistmas tree but each link is decorated with Disney characters) that you cut out, staple together and then each day remove one link. This is how we counted down to Disney last year and the kids had a blast with it. So I know that they will be excited when they open the gift and see the whole chain link again.
here is a link to the project incase I'm not explaining it right...

We are going in September 07- the trip is a christmas gift from my parents. The kids received their gift this past weekend. Mom sat them down and handed them each a Disney ball cap, then a Disney stuffed animal, then a Disney Calendar. Then they were each given a card- the outside read:

To:

When you wish upon a star, it makes no difference who you are, when you wish upon a star- your dreams come true.

We love you,
Nana and Papa

On the inside there is a color logo from each park and it says

This is your ticket to Walt Disney World
September 15-22, 2007

It was really fun to see them as it dawned on them what they were reading.

This will be a huge trip with my family of 5, my parents, my sister and her husband, my grandmother, my aunt/uncle, and their 2 kids.

We just joined DVC, so our next trip back is in May. They are older, 10 & 5 so they have already looked at all the info that came, decided we should go to VB sometime as the pool looked "cool". We actually thought about wrapping the membership box up and giving it to them for Xmas. 48 years of WDW for you two!

Amazing! My kids were very surprised and are very excited about the upcoming trip. I feel kind of bad that we gave a better gift than Santa!

How did all those Christmas surprises go????????

Ours turned out pretty good.
We decided on the ole' scavenger hunt. After all gifts were opened we handed them a little change purse with a clue to start looking. They really liked it. They were sent to 4 places around the house. The last 'clue' was wrapped up and hidden on the tree. They found it, opened it and it took a few seconds to sink it. They were excited. More excited when they found out we would be leaving in less than 30 days !
