And who wants to help me with mine? I got TaxCut -- good move! I guess it's just a little oversimplified and leaves me wondering.

I'm finishing my last state (I work across a state line, so we get to do two!).

Yahhh!!! My printer's acting up. I've been avoiding it, but I guess I have to figure it out today. TaxCut won't allow efiling of non-resident states!!

We just filed ours Saturday. We had to pay in federally but surprisingly we will recieve a state refund.

I just bought my copy of Taxcut yesterday. I have used it for 3 years now and like it, however I do remember being extreamly frustrated last year when all they had was a worksheet for a form I needed. That forced me to over ride some entries which disqualified me for e-file. So I redid it without that form (it was for a low income housing credit) and it was under a $20 hit to not claim it. Called the IRS to make sure I didn't break any law by giving the IRS some extra money and went ahead and e-filed.

Actually I am lurking around here when I should really be working on the taxes...

I filed Federal & State with Turbo Tax for the web in early February. I have yet to do our local taxes. They only take a few minutes as we have noting other than earnings from income to report, I just don't like to fill out the form.

I guess I should be glad that I only have to file federal.

I'm trying to figure out how to qualify for the student loan interest adjustment -- it would be a huge help. I might have to suck it up and go to one of those H&R Block places though I'm reluctant to. I hate that the deadline is a few days away and I just now realized it might be possible for me to qualify. Otherwise, my taxes were finished a few weeks ago.

I'm still going to try to figure out this on my own before I "give in." ::yes::

Good Luck! I still have to finish filing but have most of the numbers in Turbo Tax. Just need to review and finalize, should have done it already since I'm getting some back.

::waves hands sadly::

I am so embarrassed. I had to wait until last week for my last W2 form and now I have to get to work. Every year I used to have a good friend do my taxes for me but this year I cannot afford her. I did a search this morning and noticed that this Tax Cut is a great software so I tried to get it today, but lo and behold my neighborhood WalMart was closed! :( Well, it's good for the workers since it IS a holiday.

I will pick one up on the way to work tomorrow. I understand that WalMart has it for half the price of the website one. We'll see.

We just filed today....are paying $150 in federal, and getting back $282 in state.

My son-in-law.. He always waits till the very last minute.. Now it's going to be even harder because he'll have to do them and then take the forms to the hospital so my DD can sign them..

I like to do mine as early as possible and get it out of the way.. I hate having that deadline looming over my head..

Who's still doing taxes?

My accountant.

I can not believe that it has gotten tot he point where middle class Americans need to hire an accountant to do their taxes. I do not mind the fact that I have to pay taxes, but I do not like the fact that the government has made it so complicated. I think it should be a law that every Senator and Congressman should do their own taxes by hand. Then they would simplify these ridiculous forms and eliminate a lot of the nonsense that you have to through.

We've filed ours, and have even received our Federal refund, but we owe the state more than our federal refund.

So we'll be mailing that off before Thursday........ our Post Offices here will NOT be staying open until midnight because of all of the e-filing. The last one to close for the day will close at 7 p.m. :(

I'm scheduled to do mine tonight.......as late as possible ;)

OK, maybe right after dinner, after I'm done DISing and sending Easter messages to everyone I know

I'm the worlds greatest procrastinator.....and I'm getting money back!!!! Oh well, if I'd filed earlier that money would be all gone by now anyway:rolleyes:

No kidding, JayCT! I had my accountant friend do mine last year and hired an accountant the year before that. They turned out to be very simple, but I wouldn't know that by looking at those forms! And I'm not exactly a dummy, but it sure makes me feel like one.

We had ours done back in Feb.--broke even by the time we had to pay H&R Block.

Have fun!

::yes:: Me too. You'd think that would be enough of an incentive to do them, but noooooooooooooo.

Ah well, I finally JUST went to the IRS site and printed out the instructions I needed. Man, I love the internet. If I had to go pick this stuff up like we used to, I'd never get it done!

OK, Federal is DONE! getting $$ back. I'll do Sate in the AM, I'm tired and I'm a morning person.....so I'll be able to finish up quickly tomorrow....plus double check tonight's math::yes::

You're in Florida right? Don't forget your Intagibles form.....

I think I have gathered all the documents needed... we just have to drop it off at our accountants.... We will prolly have to file an extension, but with that form we must also include the check....

It has been my experience.. people who get money back file early, those of us who pay out the nose file late....
