Who's not excited about BLT?

Nothing against BLT, but MK isn't my favorite park, so the thought of a DVC there doesn't do anything for me. I can understand some people being excited, but I'm thinking that if you don't have young kids, or grandkids, you're probably not excited about it. Frankly, our only excitement about this is that maybe lots of people will sell off some points elsewhere, including HHI, in order to buy BLT, so I can talk DH into an add-on at HHI. Is there anyone else out there who isn't loving this resort for themselves, or am I all alone?

I really am not excited at all in this new resort. I've really been trying hard to come up with a reason to stay there. Magic Kingdom really isn't my favorite park. I don't like the theme or decor of BLT. I already have a lake view at BWV. There's not even a restaraunt at BLT I have to go to.

You're not alone. I'm happy for those who have been waiting, but it's not a big deal to me.

I won't buy and at this point, I doubt I'll even want to stay there. My DH & I don't spend much time at the MK and while it would be great to see the MK fireworks from the balcony or special viewing lounge, I don't think the fireworks are worth the "point premium". They don't even show the fireworks every night! :teeth:

I hope lots of other members do want to stay there though - maybe it will take some of the 7 month pressure off BWV, BCV & VWL. We'll see.

Thats just what I'm doing, playing that waiting game for some HHI pts. Hmm....so you will be my competition then!!:goodvibes

Good point-I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

I am excited that they added it because I am a DVC member and just because I don't own there doesn't mean I don't' want to try it...but I am not excited in that I want to own there. I knew and my dh knew that would not be something we would want as an add on. I will eventually stay there, but I would NOT spend an entire week there. I have 400 points a year and trust me...I willl be stingy when it comes to booking my trips. I want more BANG FOR MY BUCK. I would not want to part with that many points for what you get. I would rather spend about the same pts. in July at BCV instead. That is my personal preference but I am HAPPY for those that have waited all this time and knew it was something they wanted. I remember when our kids were little and we stayed at CR a couple of times....you couldn't beat that monorail or the walking path to MK, but it is not my cup of tea theming wise that is for sure. It wasn't back then and is not now. When I look at BLT....it doesn't even speak Disney to me. LOL I love SSR and BCV and will now love AKV too......but I am up for trying all the DVC resorts eventually. :goodvibes

You're definitely not alone. It doesn't appeal to me at all - not even to try it out just once.

Happy to hop on a bus to MK and return to my spacious, quiet, OKW afterwards :) (The only time I ever use the 7 month window is to use my BWV points for OKW)

Very happy for those who have been waiting for BLT though.

I hope so too......but when I posted that same comment.....many people didn't think BLT would have any impact on getting ressies at the 7 month window. They all think it will be just as hard. :confused3

I love MK. It is my favorite park. When I go there, I am immersed in Walt. We own at VWL. We love staying in the MK proximity. But honestly, unless the actual end result looks much better than what has been shown, I don't see us staying there. We stayed at CR one time and we did enjoy it. I'll be anxious to see the end result. Right now, no, I am not excited about it.

Actually, I'm very excited about it. But for other reasons than looking to own there.

I'm excited for all of the people who have been waiting, hoping and dreaming for a monorail DVC and all of the Contemporary/MK fans. Like you said, it's a great location especially if you have young kids.:goodvibes

I'm excited because now BLT is the newest DVC and hopefully there will be even better add-on incentives for AKV to come in the future.:)

I'm excited because of the possibility that BLT will relieve some pressure off AKV, especially the Concierge category, and it will be easier to book difficult times at AKV.

I'm excited at the prospect that some people will be selling their contracts for other resorts, maybe their smaller contracts, to raise the capital to buy into BLT and that for a period of time there may be a buyer's market for resales for the other resorts. If so, we'll likely go the resale route and add-on where previously we may not have.:thumbsup2

I'm excited that BLT may raise such interest and attention, and sell so well, that DVD will step up plans for additional DVC resorts at GF and Poly!

While we don't care for the high rise type of lodging or the decor, I'm happy there are plenty of others that do - it offers yet another choice which I think overall is a good thing. One thing that looks like it is a harbinger of things to come is the higher point chart - but for a GF or Poly DVC I'd be willing to put up with it. We won't buy BLT due to the afore mentioned reasons. I don't even think we'll stay there due to the higher points but you never know maybe one day we'll try it for a few days just to see what it's like.:confused3

Each DVC resort eventually sells out. At that point Disney retains 4% ownership in each resort. Therefore, theoretically, all of the resorts should be 96% full year-round. (Of course there are always members that trade out, but other timeshare owners trade in.) So even though a new resort is coming online, there will still be an equal amount of demand for all of the resorts.

Your scenario would make sense if they were adding BLT but not selling points there...just allowing existing members to book the villas as an extra resort. But since there will now be BLT owners who need to use their points it will mean that demand will stay high at all of the resorts...with the smallest resorts being the most in demand simply because their supply is more limited.

The Contemporary has always been my favorite non-DVC resort, and while I wouldn't add on there as I have plenty of OKW points, I thought about occasionally trying for a stay at BLT at 7 months. But then I saw the point requirements. I'll be very happy at OKW, thanks.

Not excited at all except for others and DVC has yet another destination.

I was at the Contemporary catching a fireworks cruise and the ducks allll over the pool and sand did not appeal to me at all. Yes it's part of nature and a stupid thing to not like but I have no desire to stay there.

I love MK but have a couple nights booked at the Polynesian before our AKLV stay next July instead.

I will be very anxious to see what the price per point at GCV will be too!! Staying there in Oct. and hoping to see a villa.

We dont like moving, we stay in 1 bedrooms and up, and we use points on weekends. We stay put at least 5 days if we do move.

All that would preclude us from even trying to stay at BLT on most trips. Now if it were a night before or after a cruise, I would try, but Im not pressed. The pool area is not impressive enough to pull me away from BCV or SSR.

I've lived in Chicago where staying in a hi-rise is a necessity. Have no desire to return to one, unless there's a casino at the bottom:rotfl: First thing I did when I moved to Texas was buy land!

After seeing the location of GCV, we will not add on there either. Loved GCH and will just pay cash to stay there as Cali will not be an annual trip for us like WDW.

I will always have a special place in my heart for the North Garden Wing, that's where we stayed for $79 a night (SOG was under construction) to immerse ourselves in the magic to make sure purchasing DVC was right for us. We visited all the DVC's and signed the papers before we left. Boys were 3 and 5 and we had a great time but since then we've fallen in love with other parts of the resort and really don't need back door access to MK.

If by some miracle I could stay there the night of MVMCP then I would do it, but really I doubt that's going to happen much and IMHO that's the only draw so I guess I go as the "un excited" group. That's OK, I was thrilled when we got AKV!!!!

I am with you I am not excited at all about it, we have a small child and it does not appeal to me. I know I can find a high rise hotel cheaper outside of Disney, but I would not have the view, that seems to be the only positive. Disney should be themed thats what we like to see! To top it all off the points cost more and it takes more to stay there and there is no incenitives, and you can't use your points to Sep 09. What is there to get excited about that? I am very happy with my decision at AKV.

I got so excited over the new announcement I just bought another OKW contract! Give me the elbow room, landscaping and low points of OKW any day.

I'm not at all interested but happy it is finally coming to be for those that like it.
It just lacks personality to me.
