Who's in for GREECE and TURKEY, June 15 2003????

I hope they get this straightened out. Is you brother's family participating in the FE exchange? If not and the room isn't corrected, they may be getting odd deliveries to their room

It might be the others have changed their cabin assignment but didn't update the list. I sent them a PM to confirm.

We are still looking for 2 people interested in joining our privately booked excursion in Rome.

We have two 7-passenger vans with guides, but only 12 of us in our group (7 adults and 5 kids...all seasoned travelers) consisting of Double Trouble, Travelbee, and Casa Martinez. It's an all-day tour with pickup (and return) right at the port in Civitavecchia...fast and easy!

We are still finalizing the exact itinerary (hitting the big sites, including guided Vatican tour), and we are flexible, but it should look something similar to this...

http://www.rome-car-tours.com/tour-from-port-of-rome.html

Total cost (adult) per person INCLUDING tickets looks like about 124 euro or $162 (US dollars).
Breakdown as follows...
Cost share for the private driver/guide/van (86 euro),
Tickets to the Vatican/Museum/Sistine Chapel (online 16/8 euro adult/child, plus 4 euro fee), and
Tickets to Colosseum/Forum/Palatine Hill (18 euro).
Tips not included.
I'll check on food, but I believe that is on us as well.
Buying our tickets in advance will avoid the major lines at the sites.

Overall, seems like a good deal for a full day, private, guided, port-to-port tour with a reputable, highly-rated company (and Travelbee/CasaMartinez have used them before). With such a small group, and 2 guides, we should be able to see quite a bit, as well as tailor the day to our pace/desires.

Does anyone know how this compares to DCL or anything else they've found?

Please post or PM me if you have questions or might be interested. All ages welcome, but we only have 2 slots. We are a fun, easy-going group and would love to have two more DIS'ers join us.

I have to share my excitement with everyone!

I am trying to work and also prepare for a job interview on Tuesday . . . and I can't seem to concentrate. :crazy2:

My youngest DD finished packing and has still 4 items to pack.

My oldest DD will start after she finishes her 8th grade science project.

My DH just wants to bring a tuxedo Body shirt. I almost freaked out!

I am just trying to concentrate until the time is ready to leave for Barcelona.

Ok... I will try to get back to working... Have a great week everyone!

Hang in there Iknow what you mean! A couple of major issues have come up at work. Spending way to much time on them but it must be done. I am also teaching an on-line class that starte Thursday :crazy2:
One of our group had her mom pass away last week, is a school teacher and finishing up school and her son is getting married 6/1 - she needs this cruise.
My DSIS is retiring after teaching for over 30 years. Hopefully we all make it to our sail date! Echoing above have a great week!!
Wishing you a great job interview!

Congrats! On the DSIS' retirement.

I believe that this cruise will be a great bonus for everyone.

I'm trying to organize a Girl Scout patch exchange, thinking maybe it could be a FE style. Have your daughter (if anyone has Boy Scouts and would like to organize according to their requirements?) write up detail about the place they are from. Leave it in FE's for those interested to read about other places. Some of the states make patches available online, I don't see ours but I'd be happy to either bring them or mail to others after the cruise. My daughter just became a junior and I would love to have this be a way for her to learn about other places and get some patches in the process which will encourage her to share with her troop). If non Girl Scouts are interested we could leave the info and not worry about the patch. I don't know how to set up a spreadsheet but I'm sure I could figure it out if anyone is interested. Maybe those interested could pm me? I haven't posted much so if that doesn't work my email is mom.weston at yahoo. Would like to know girl name, dis name/cabin #, where you are from (or what patch is about, if we have 2 from same place I know AZ has several options for local patches), and level of Girl Scout (daisy, brownie, or not scout).

dissnogs, that sounds like so much fun!
I wanted to mention that since you are newly posting to DIS, you have to have 10 posts to be able to PM, so if someone PMs you, you won't be able to PM back - but you can post post post here to get your post-count to 10 :) So tell us more about yourself and your planning and if you have someone else already posting here on behalf of your family, post that too :)

Any news from Meum regarding stateroom?

I sent PM the other day, but did not get any reply. I hope everything is all right & they didn't have to cancel. (My bro- rec'd the stateroom assignment fairly recently, he booked GTY)

I received an email from the place and said it was okay with a stipulation that we pay for the extra two slots.

If we divide the amt., each child would cost 9 Euros.

Just heard from my sister. She is okay with the higher price for her kids. Thanks!

And just to clarify - that is not the name I saw associated with the stateroom in question. I don't want to mix things up anymore than they already are (or aren't)!

The DISer is Mineu - and I checked the postings and see they haven't posted on DIS in a few months - but one of their last posts has a ticker in the sig line that makes me think they rescheduled from this cruise to another one ( http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=46634526&postcount=251 ) ... is that what you all would think?

I used the "send email" option rather than PM so maybe that will get to them and they can confirm whether they are sailing with us or not.

CaliTracy, tell your family members to hang out a bag and they can just collect the goodies prepared for that cabin (LOL).
