Who's in for GREECE and TURKEY, June 15 2003????

If we're starting at 3:00, then there is time to hang out and get a chance to say hi / put faces and names together before heading to life boat drill - and since we no longer have to go back to our cabins to grab life vests, it doesn't take so long to get to the stations as long as you check where you need to be before heading to the Meet/Greet.

Do you mean to say that Disney does not require for cruise members to grab/get their lifevests and put it on for the drill?

Just wondering... Thanks!

That is correct. Our first cruise where we did not have to do it was 2010.

Correct no more life vest but they still line you up like good little soldiers and take a head count.

I know, it's great and makes the hallways and stairwells less dangerous!
But what's important is to make sure that the life vests you do have in your cabin are the right sizes for your party and that you know how to put them on, so be sure to at least check the sizes at the beginning of the cruise. A lot of people store them under the bed, but my personal opinion is to store them where they are easily accessible - under the bed means they may slide around and not be easy to grab in an emergency.

I'm the shortest person in our family - so in 2011 I had my first experience as "line leader" for our family when we lined up.

The name tag thing would be a great idea. I like the lanyard idea as well. Can you organize that? Not everyone will have lanyards but i have a slew at home that I can bring for the new cruisers. Dont know if I'll have enough

Lol. I recently find myself with extra I can give you.

In case you were wondering, there are two Disney Stores in Barcelona.

We stumbled across one in Covent Garden in London on the Sunday afternoon we had disembarked the ship. It was super crowded but we bought a Mickey Mouse with something England on it for a friend of the boys' birthday. We thought we would make the time to go by one of these.

disguised as a "get to know you" idea!

Our DS Mark, who is a graduating senior in high school, sings in the concert choir at school. Last Saturday, he sang a solo and was in 5 groups for the Iowa High School Music Association small group/solo contest. He's been in lots of groups before, but this was the first time he sang a solo.

He received a "I" rating for his solo! And his men's quartet was named "Best of Day - Outstanding Performance" and will be singing at a special recital next month in Ames!

I posted them on You Tube and here are the links:

Sorry, we have to pass.

We'd love to be social and get to know folks, but we don't drink alcohol.

Brag away, Deb - and thanks for sharing the links. Our younger son is a freshman in band so we're just at the beginning of the whole high school music stuff, but I have to say that I'm impressed with the caliber and level of talent I see in the young people we've seen perform. Your son and his fellow singers are no exception to that - well done!

Same for us, but we would be up for a scheduled "event" some time, some where ... ideas? suggestions? Sea Days?

Which reminds me - do any of you go to the Trivia games they have on the ship? We've been to a few - some folks are "hard core" about it, but generally most of the other guests we've encountered are fun and easy going. The boys have enjoyed the family ones like the Pirate trivia and the "name that tune" ones that are sometimes done in the Promenade, and at times have gone with me to the ones that are adults in the mornings (because we didn't realize it was only adults but it wasn't busy so the CM said they could stay).

We like to go to Mickey Mania and such in Studio Sea, too.

You'll find my daughter and I at most of the trivia events Cindy ... not hard core, but competitive. :)

I found this information online. This is so neat! I have to try it. I will probably take an hour writing postcards.

Many visitors to Rome take the opportunity to mail postcards and letters back home from another country, no, not Italy — Vatican City! The Vatican has had its own post office and stamps since 1929. More items are mailed from the Vatican City postal code (00120) per inhabitant than from any other postal code in the world. The Universal Postal Union has called the Vatican, “one of the best postal systems in the world.”

In fact, the Italian postal system has such reputation for slow service that I know Romans who will only use the Vatican’s postal system when mailing things abroad. Why? Well, your mail will get where it’s going faster than if you mailed it from a regular Rome post office and spent the same amount. Plus, isn’t it neat to have Vatican City stamps on your postcards? (Remember, you can’t use Italian stamps here!)

There are several outposts of the Vatican Post Office including one near the museum and one of the left side of St. Peter’s Square as you are facing St. Peter’s Basilica. Another advantage of visiting the post office — their stamps are truly beautiful and the perfect souvenir to bring back home for any stamp lover.
