Who's in for GREECE and TURKEY, June 15 2003????

We were on the Magic 9/1/08 and went into a hurricane and it was BAD, yet nothing near the caliber of this last Fantasy cruise. In our case, Captain Tom aborted the plan to dock in CC (which was good, as it was destroyed overnight), and turned the ship around to sail away from the storm. Nonetheless, the whole ship was up at 3am, while the both rocked so badly that stuff was falling off shelves and tables, you had to crawl across the cabin cause we were so inclined, water was just pouring out of the pools and across Deck 9, then down into the midship elevator shafts. People in the atrium were flipping out with the water coming down into the elevators (the Deck 9 elevator lobby was getting water, so it was coming into the elevators that way). Nightmare.

But NOTHING compared to the footage I have seen from the Fantasy last week! That is crazy and way, way worse. My take is that yes, the ship can handle it. Yes, people have sailed in worse. But it's a vacation, not a military mission! The point is not just to return alive! I mean, you get home, people ask how the trip was, no one answers "Well I survived, so I guess that's a success!" It seems like guest comfort and sanity was not taken into consideration.

Happy Election Day fellow American Cruisers from the Colonial Capital of Virginia. Only 221 days until we sail away! Hope everyone is well and any of our fellow passengers in NY NJ and other areas hit by Sandy are safe and well.
Sue

Well everyone, we have officially jumped ship. As much as we would love to go, we have too much going on next year including a Disney cruise with my sister and a trip to Europe. If Disney adds more med cruises in the future, I hope we can hang on to it next time. I hope everyone has a fabulous time! God bless!

Thanks, I am very sad. I was really looking forward to this cruise, but we can't do it all. I hope I get to meet you folks in future cruises :)

We have officially jumped ship as well. We found a Princess itinerary that goes to Israel, Egypt and the Med, for half the price in a suite. So we're doing that one, and a birthday Fantasy cruise next year. Hope you all have a great cruise.

If any families of 4 or more are interested in options other than hotels, check out my post on the Back to the Med in 2013! pre-trip report - post 653 about Home Away.

Sounds like a great adventure ahead for you still! Enjoy!

So excited! We finally booked our airfare this morning! AA seems to be having a great sale right now for any who may still be looking. We purchased tickets this morning for Denver - Barcelona for just over $900 each. We arrive to Barcelona in the evening on June 11. Excited to start looking for places to stay - thanks to all who posted info about lodging in the city. We are going to try to find a conveniently located apartment or apartment type hotel for those nights. On the 27th, we are on the 11:20, American Airlines flight from BCN to Miami (and then on to Denver). Is anyone else taking that flight?

That's a great fare! I just checked and our Delta flight is still the same as what we paid in September.

Congrats in getting that taken care of sounds like a great fare we paid about 250 more per person from VA however where we live we cannot get anywhere without flying somewhere first just to leave the US.:rotfl2:

We will also be flying out of Denver the same day, but will be on United.

It looks like DCL is adding some Port Adventuers - I was just checking and they didn't have their usual drop-down menu to choose the port, but when I clicked on the full listing and scrolle through, I came across this one:

They added a Rome by Segway tour. That's a new one; they never offered that on the prior med cruises.

Oh, how cool would that be!!

Any prices...??at work and can't search...

Do you think dad could do the segway?

No, nor do I think the kids would be old enough. At wdw the age is16 for segways. I meant costs in general, not specifically for the Segway. Be interesting to compare what we have booked to the 1st tour mentioned.

On my way out the door to go home. I'll check.

Hope they add this to the family agenda also. I have been told this is a great thing for families.
