We're baaaaack.......and I'll be attempting to compose my trip report within a reasonable period of time. For those of you who don't know me, you can catch up with my story in my pretrip report for the long, drawn out introductions. The quick version is it's me, Ann 43, my new husband as of 9/18/2010 Peter 47, and my Disney Daughter Victoria 12. This was our Disneymoon/1st Family trip and what a trip it was! Our trip was from September 23 through October 4th and as you can see by my signature, there is another tracker there with next year's dates already planned. Yes, that's right folks.....Peter wants to go back to Disney next year!!! Hah! I've converted him! Yes!!! Sweet!!!

so here we are....in all our Mickey glory!!! We look happy, don't we!!!

We are on our way...... Well, this is the day! I had the alarm set for 3am but by 2:15am I was wide awake! I had brought Cutie to the kennel on Wednesday morning so we didn't have to deal with her. Speaking of Cutie, she was soo excited to go to Doggie Daycare! There were about 5 labs there this week, so she was happy. I had packed the night before so all we had to do was get ourselves ready and get out the door. Our flight was scheduled for 6:14am and I figured if we left our home at 4am, we would be there in plenty of time. We did stop at Circle K to pick up some water and Diet Coke and we were on our way. We got to the Portland Jetport at about 5:15am and I still thought we were in pretty good shape. We left our bags at the Air Tran counter (I had checked in online the previous day so check in was quick and easy....) and then headed to security. So we showed our boarding passes and our photo id's to the agent and then it was time to put our bags through the scanner. OMG!!!! People ---- DO NOT BRING YOUR PRESSED PENNIES CONTAINER IN YOUR CARRYON!!! Me and my backpack were escorted not so nicely to a secure area to be searched. Are you freaking kidding me? I realize they have a job to do, but really, I am here with my 12 year old daughter all excited about going to Disney and you are going to hold me up? 20 MINUTES LATER....YES, THAT'S RIGHT......20 MINUTES LATER after making me feel like a criminal, the TSA agent discovered the M&M container of coins and figured out that is the suspicious item!!! By now, they were in the final boarding mode of our flight!!! There was no time to even go to the bathroom at this point. I was pissed!!! Poor Peter really had to go potty! The flights were ok (we changed planes in Baltimore) -- nothing out of the ordinary. We landed in Orlando at high noon. We headed down to the first level where the Magical Express counter is located. The lovely agents directed us into line B ----THE WRONG LINE!!! This line led us to the WRONG BUS!!! Can my day get anymore complicated? I mean, yeah, I was finally in Disney, but c'mon.....are you kidding me? So the driver of this wrong bus asks us which resort we are going to and after I said Riverside he said " Well, you are on the wrong bus. Weren't you checked in?" Yes, dumb butt, that's how we got into line B and this bus in the first place. OMG!! We were then sent to space 47. Ok, so we get to this bus (after going to the BACK of this line) and this driver says "Did you check in?" Is this a theme. Yes, we checked in, were directed to the wrong bus, sent to this bus, and now we're here. Now, of course, there weren't three seats together, so I let Peter and Victoria sit together in front and I sat out front of a little boy (aka Satan) who wouldn't stop kicking the back of my seat. I just wanted to cry!

These little critters are EVERYWHERE!!! While waiting for the shuttle to the main terminal, we noticed what seemed to be hundreds of these bugs that looked like one bug with one head on each end of its body. Nope. We were told the story about these nasty little creatures whose whole purpose in life is to mate. Yes, folks ---- mate. And once they mate they die. Apparently they only come out for one week in April and one week in September. Of course, it's the week we are there. It's really pretty gross. We were also told that they don't bite or sting --- they are just a pain!!!

Sounds like your trip got off to a rocky start! We'd been warned about the pressed penny money but I didn't know how to get all that change down without it being in some kind of tube- either the rolls from the bank or the M&M containers. : Either way it was going to be a solid tube of metal and I didn't know if I'd be able to get coins at WDW- plus I didn't want to put over $30 in my checked bag where the shape would probably flag it to be checked and then whoever dealt with my luggage would know there was money in there. It all seemed like such a hassle!

I ended up just taking the rolls of quarters and pennies and removing them from my bag as we were going through security, placing in the bin by themselves and telling the security person what they were. It worked like a charm!

The lovebugs were super annoying! Thankfully they don't bite but still- ugh!

Ewww! I've heard about the love bugs too, but have only been in March and May, so I have not had the pleasure of seeing them...thankfully. So, your trip got off to a rocky start, i'm sure all was well once you got checked in at the hotel!

Uh oh, sounds like things didn’t start off so well! The magic usually starts pretty soon after that though! And I am too familiar with the love bugs. Nasty little things! We used to see them all of the time when we used to go on our trips when I was a kid. I guess that will be something the kids and I will have to look forward to in April LOL Well, I can’t wait to read more

We checked into Port Orleans Riverside at 1:30pm and yeah, our room was ready! We were assigned room #8579 in Magnolia Terrace which is the location I requested on the first floor, closest to the East Depot bus station. It's a little confusing to find your way around, but everything is clearly marked. The room is beautiful!! It was very clean and I thought it was a bit bigger than most of the hotel rooms I've stayed in. There is the big lobby area at the main building where the restaurants and guest services are located. The buildings are surrounding the river where the marina is located. You can rent boats, bikes, and pick up the water taxi to Downtown Disney. The grounds are so beautiful!!

Look!!! It's my first ever towel animal!! OMG!!! I'm so excited over a towel animal!! Ok, the magic is starting to be felt now. I'm better! I unpacked almost everything and once we were settled, we decided to take the water taxi to DTD!! We had dinner reservations at 4:45pm at Planet Hollywood, but we were starving and didn't want to eat something big just to eat again at that time! We went and asked if they could take us earlier and sure enough, they could seat us right away. AWESOME!!! We have the Disney Dining Plan so we could each have an entree, a non-alcoholic beverage, and a dessert. I can't remember what I had now --- I think it was steak --- I just remember it being awesome!!!

I know the dessert was a brownie with ice cream, though. Of course I would remember the dessert!! We didn't do a whole lot of looking around, but we did end up buying some pins. Oh, the picture that they take in front of Planet Hollywood came out really nice, but I haven't scanned it yet, or else I would have posted it. Sorry guys. We took the water taxi back to Riverside and got ready for bed. Tomorrow is going to be a big day!!!

Yeah!!! It's my Pam buddy!!!! You know, Pam, without you and the water wings you promised, I did not dare to venture down the waterslide.....I'm waiting for our trip together someday before I risk it....oh, yeah, but I did dare to go on Rockin Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest, and Manta and the Kracken at Sea World, though!!!

Manny doesn't ride the thrill rides either. We actually just went to New Hampshire the other day to the Canobie Lake Screemfest. It's an amusement park, but in October it is also a Haunted attraction. Manny sat out ALONE for most rides.

I was thinking about May 2011, but we are also taking a vacation in July, so that would make things too tight. And as for December, that's the only thing that i'm not too crazy about. I want to swim in Florida and that may not happen. Although, i'm sure once we're there, we'll have plenty of other things to do. If we dont' go Dec 2011, it wouldn't be until late 2012 because I have another wedding in May 2012 that I am in. SO........

I have to give props to anyone who can get up that early and fly out on a 6:15am flight. The sunrise certainly was beautiful!

That is a bummer about be directed to the wrong line. I hope it didn't hold you up too long.
