My DH and I are both home! We work for our local school system, and we were closed a half day yesterday and all day today. The snow here is really pretty.

I got a snow day too. When I checked my work email this morning it said Code 2 (what ever that really means), so I looked it up. My interpretation was that even though the school was closed teachers still had to report...I know odd. So I waited for the 2 hour delay and drove the 20 minutes to work. Turns out it was only for 12 month staff (secretaries and principals) to report. It would be nice if new teachers received the full explanation of what codes mean.

Home too! I am a teacher. They called us at midnight to tell us. I guess that was better than 6am?

when you miss school, do they tack on days at the end of the year? and if you can't get to work do you just use PTO?

Yes and no. They add days, but in some school systems you can't use PTO. You get docked and fussed at in those systems. (I used to be in on eof those.)

We are in VA - DD is out today - although we had just a small 1" amount last night - the temps made everything freeze - so it was slippery this morning... I work at a hospital and we never close - so I'm at work! Temp is around 19 degrees! Brrrrr....

Dh (teacher) is home today. He and the kids were home yesterday, but the kids had to go back. The cried "No fair!" of course, but we live in a city and dh works in a country school.

We're home here too, but today it's more because of the cold. It felt like 52 below this morning and with over 30% of kids walking to schoo in our district, it was a smart idea to cancel today. Yesterday we didn't have school because of badly blowing snow- and we were let out early on Wed...so we've been in our house since Wed. at 1. Which, until now, has been fine with me- I got a lot done. Now, I am getting restless.
