The boys have been playing a lot of video games and playing outside. And doing a little bit of reading. I took them to lunch and shopping earlier today. That's about it so far. We are having a Father's Day cook-out Friday night with my family and we are taking DH to Cabela's on Sunday. I hate that place!! But it is Father's Day not Mother's Day. :rotfl:

I'm sure Logan's idea of a good Father's Day would be spending a few hours at the Bass Pro Shop. There isn't one around here, so I'll be spared this year. Though now I have to come up with something creative to do.

I'm sure I'll hate Walmart even more when I have children old enough to make it a horrible experience. Though come to think of it, Gideon started getting really upset at Walmart the few times we went before I moved. I started walking there, because he does better in his stroller than he does in a cart. Of course the catch was that I couldn't get much because I didn't have anywhere to put it.
I could have waited until someone else got home and gone alone, but it was always so crowded in the evenings and on weekends. Before my baby days, I used to go in the middle of the night.

Sadly, when I return to the States, I will probably be soo excited to go to a Walmart.

Hi Becca! :wave2:

I was reading your post, and when you said there wasn't a Bass Pro near you, I looked over to see if your profile showed where you live. I see you're in South Korea! Do you mind me asking why you moved there and what part of South Korea you are in? My DS is interested in going there one day to teach English. In fact, he has a friend who moved there in February to teach English. I cannot imagine living overseas for any amount of time! I think I'm too old to be that adventurous! Please tell me some of the things you like (or don't like) about South Korea. Thanks! :goodvibes

Jo- love your dresses too, now you and Shellie see why I had to change my dates to October when it may be a bit cooler since I have to wear shorts and capris due to my current size and dresses are a no go :rotfl:

All this talk about Walmart, I have to say I have started to stray from there and been hitting KMart and Target since it seems everytime I want to purchase an item there is no price on it and I have to go looking for one of those price scanning machines ..............although today KMart lost points with me, I went to pick up a package of summer socks and saw that they were on sale buy one get one 50% off , ok I can deal with that. Then of course they did not ring up on sale, so I tell the cashier and she was like well you have to go get the sign and take it to the Service Desk ...huh? WTH I looked at her and said I will go to the SD but you have floor people to check the price , at this point DH knowing I was about to blow said he would wait in the car :rotfl:
I went to the SD and it took a few minutes for the manager to waddle up and I think the look I gave him scared him a bit, since I told him if it is not on sale I only want one, and he told the girl to give it to me

I get very upset with bad customer service after working in retail for 26+ years, go get the sale sign, good grief do I work here? :lmao:

I have to call my DS and relate my expierence since he is the recieveing mgr in a KMart in another town

Love all the dresses! Part of me is being tempted by you guys to wear dresses in August, but the other part of me is really worried about flashing people getting on rides and stuff, especially since I plan on doing all the thrill rides...

We came with the military. My husband got it as his first duty station! We're up about 40 miles north of Seoul. I have only been here a few weeks, but so far I like it. Obviously, it's a different country, so there are certain things that require some adjustment, like the Walmart thing. They do have other retail chains, but I haven't been to any yet, because I mostly shop on post. We do live out "on the economy" in Korean run apartments, because there's no post housing here. We've been meaning to get out to a Korean retail store, but it is a bit more complicated with a baby. (juggling the car seat for taxis and/or taking public transportation) It's so easy to get around using the public transportation. The roads are a bit scary. Let's just say stop lights are suggestions!

Overall, if I were an unencumbered single, I would have come here by my own choice, especially with the job market being the way it is. Chances are he could get paid a good bit of money, while having most of his expenses covered.

That said, it is a country at war, so make all the necessary maternal adjustments. I went back and forth a million times before coming here. [again...if it was just me, it wouldn't have been as much of an issue (being a selfish child in blissful ignorance and all), but I have a baby to think about now] Chances are none of my nightmares will come true and we'll all come home in a year and a half perfectly safe.

Basically, it's what you make of it. I relish the opportunity to see new places, but I know others here who hate it. Give me a few months though. I loved studying abroad at first, but within a few months I was planning a trip to Disney, (enter DISboards) because traveling there is so much easier!

Look at it this way...if he comes to Korea, you can meet him in Japan and all go to Tokyo Disney together!

**HIJACK OVER**

Yeah, I suppose I would miss WM if I didn't have one to go to! :upsidedow

I hate poor customer service too!! :furious: If I were you I probably would have actually asked them if I worked there!! :rotfl:

Love all the dresses! Part of me is being tempted by you guys to wear dresses in August, but the other part of me is really worried about flashing people getting on rides and stuff, especially since I plan on doing all the thrill rides...

Thanks! :)

My goal is to not flash anyone when I am climbing into RNRC and TT!! :thumbsup2

Wow, I can hardly keep up with you folks! :surfweb:

LOVE all the dresses! What a smart idea. I'm sure that will be cooler. :thumbsup2

I am in no way a high maintenance kind of girl, but I do tend to over pack. I do it though b/c I am super frugal and always worried that if I don't pack it, I'll need it later, and then have to pay Disney prices for it!

This is me exactly! ::yes::

I have a question about your shoes.......How do you find shoes that are cute but good for all the walking?

I was thinking the same thing. I can't find anything comfortable enough for all that walking other than sneakers. Which wouldn't look too stylish with cute sundresses. I know Shelly can wear all those cute heeled sandals, but not me...anyone have favorite cute, flat, shoes?

Every time I come out of WM, I use my pop-up anitbacterial wipes to de-Wal-Mart-ize myself.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Sadly, when I return to the States, I will probably be soo excited to go to a Walmart.

Trust me, Becca, this is true!

Good morning! Hope all is well with everyone. I have to go back and post replies to everyone before I do my post for today b/c I was having too much fun at WM yesterday....

so....

Hey ladies! I'm very late to the party but I have an excuse.....I've been to Walt Disney World! And, ahem, I'm in the stages of planning next year's trip. :rolleyes1

I've read through the plans and have promptly forgotten almost everything I wanted to comment on. I choose to blame that on my suffering from a head cold and being hopped up on sinus meds. and not due to old age. :rotfl:

I do remember that I wanted to say  on you both booking CL! I can't wait to see how you two liked it.

Oh and as far as wearing dresses in Disney goes, they really are much cooler. I took a couple this trip and it was so nice.

Hopefully, I can keep up with you two now that I'm caught up.

Hi Lisa! So glad you're here! I hope your trip was wonderful and relaxing for you. Can't wait to hear about your next one--- and I hope your cold feels better soon. Summer colds are the worst.

Okay, I love the dresses! They are all so cute! Shelly - how will you narrow it down (or will you?)

My DDs were very into them on our July trip! I don't do dresses. Want to know why? I have larger thighs and not enough space between them when I walk. This = chafing. I'd rather stick with lightweight shorts (not denim).

Jo - I see a lot of dark colors - will you be too warm? Maybe you should shop more...just saying...
I was :rotfl:at your over packing and not taking anything out but dresses. I've been known to pack things that never leave the suitcase too. I like to be prepared for all possibilities.
I tell you what-- if you looked in my closet that's all you see-- dark clothes. I am trying to branch out a bit-- I even bought a purple shirt the other day!!!!
But yeah, I do think I need to do more shopping. A girl can never have to many clothes is what I think.:goodvibes
Chafing.....:rotfl: Not a fun time at all.:headache: You can get body glide or something I think that helps I've heard.
I love your PTR (s)!:goodvibes Can't wait for the TR!

P.S. - If you have time...can you check out my PTR? thanks dont have many (if any) readers...links in my signature...thanks SO much!:goodvibes

:goodvibes Welcome to the PTR!

 I did take you seriously, didn't I?!

I had no intention of getting that many dresses, but as you know I kept coming across some great bargains that were too good to pass up!

I am done now. Well unless I come across a yellow sundress. I still need one of those.

IDK which one is my favorite. I have only worn a few of them to church and to school. I do love the striped one, it is very light & comfortable. I also love the one Meghan quoted and the purple one. I love them all! :lovestruc

I hope they help me stay a little cooler!! :wizard: Too bad for the rest of the family they are stuck on shorts & shirts!

I was thinking the same thing about the dresses! I definitely want to save that tropical one for an evening at the poly!

I think the striped one is going to be great in that heat.

If you find a yellow sundress you have to let me know. I want one so I can be sunny.

Jo, I love all your dresses too! You girls are going to be styling! And congrats to you for downsizing! I am in no way a high maintenance kind of girl, but I do tend to over pack. I do it though b/c I am super frugal and always worried that if I don't pack it, I'll need it later, and then have to pay Disney prices for it! But I am getting better about it too. And I know your husband appreciates it as well. My DH says that I think he is a pack llama! :lmao: But in your defense, when you have a family of five, you can only narrow it down so much, especially when 3 of them are girls!
Poor DH's. They are always the ones lugging everything aren't they? I am making everyone take one carry on this time. ONE. And then I think I might check one bag just b/c I don't know how much stuff we will buy once we are there. (Shelly's the one who said I need to do this... thanks Shelly! :) ) I just figure with the girls all wearing dresses- they take up much less room so we can all each get one bag.
I am sort of liking the idea of not being so high maintenance anymore. Um, like that's gonna happen.

Great dresses Jo! :goodvibes I can't wait to see your new ones!

I can't believe you cut back on the packing so much. :worship: You'll have to help me with that. I might be slightly high maintenance myself....

Well I see you are still shopping this afternoon. When you told me you were going this morning I thought it sounded like a good idea and I went too! I only got stuff for the boys though. Can't wait to hear what you got!

You?? High Maintenance???? Surely you jest....

:rolleyes1

Okay what did you get the boys? I know you didn't go to WM, so........ spill it.

Jo - I thought I was an overpacker! 12 bags for 5 people?? That is a lot of luggage! Flashing people on the roller coaster! You are so crazy!

I love the dresses you already have. I think I know what your favorite color to wear is. My favorite one is the 2nd one down - so cute!

I have a question that I meant to ask Shelly, too. Do you pack for everyone, or do your kids and hubby do their own packing? It was very hard for me to give up the packing duties for my kids. Since Mom is the only one who knows exactly what and how much to pack, right? I'll never forget when my DS started going on his mission trips to the Arizona Navaho reservation. He packed for a week in a Jansport backpack. I thought I would die of a heart attack. :scared1: How could he possibly have everything he needs? And he was going to look so wrinkled! :lmao:

Crap no girl. I don't pack for everyone. :lmao: I even ... gasp! Make everyone do their own laundry!!! Well, except for Belle. I still do hers. Once a kid in my house hits 11, that's it. They are doing their own. Mean ole mom that I am.:rotfl2: What I do, do... ha ha I said do do-- not to be confused with doo doo... okay anyway- I make them all pull their stuff out and pack it, and put it by their doors two days before we leave. Then the day before we leave I go thru each bag, pulling out half the crap they have packed. And then once I'm satisfied they have what they need, it goes to the top of the stairs for the pack mule to carry down.

Your son sounds like how my dad used to pack. He had to go to Germany once for 6 months and got up 4 hours before the plane was to leave and threw some stuff into a bag and got in the car. I was amazed.:worship: Obviously I DIDN'T get my packing abilities from him.

And yes, black is my favorite color. My kids argue with me and say that it can't be my favorite b/c it's ugly and not really a color. And I say that it's been my favorite since I was about 8 and it's not gonna change now.:thumbsup2

I pack for everyone. Come on, I live with all boys and you know none of them would even know where to begin. I don't think they could even get to the airport without me!!

Don't you know it's your uterine tracking device? THAT'S how we women know where everything is. I can tell my guys-- the mustard is in the fridge, top shelf, on the left, next to the milk. And they can't find it. How is that??:lmao:
I'm so glad you had another nice trip. :)

I don't recommend trying a deluxe, because then you will want to do it every time! :upsidedow
You are so right! Look at us-- now it's CL!!:rotfl2:

Oh my!! :lmao:

Well you know how my last trip to WalMart went last weekend. I came out of there $190 poorer. :sad2: When the kids asked me today if we could go to WM when we left the mall I said -- are you kidding me??? :scared1::laughing:

So no, we did not go to WM today. I'm glad it was you enjoying it and not me!! :rotfl:

Did you get anything good? Go anywhere else?

Let's see- what I got at WM was a man checking me out at the register wanting to know where I go to church and if I was going to Wed nite service. I also had the pleasure of some freak checking out MC. Then we had the lady in the PJ's who I am sure did NOT brush her hair or teeth... Oh, wait you meant what did I buy.... Belle got a bucket for the beach with a Gator on it and some PJ pants on clearance and a dress-- for WDW! Other than that--the usual junk that amounts to $100.
I didn't make it to anywhere else good. I can't shop with all them young'uns slowing me down.:rotfl2:

Love all the dresses..and as any good Southern friend will tell ya, they ARE cooler!! As long as it isn't the itchy I loooove a cute dress!!! Yes,..my kids make me nuts in WM too!!!!! I ran today by myself and it took half the time!!

::yes:: I stay in a dress all summer in the South!!

So is it just WM in general or bringing the kids with you to WM that got to you? My sister and I have a running joke about WM. She absolutely hates it and won't go there unless there's a gun to her head (well maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration). I go, or used to go, several times a week. It has everything I need and the best prices. So I can stomach going there since I'm lazy and cheap. But lately, I'm slowly going over to her side. They remodeled the one by my house and no longer carry some of the things they used to have. The reason: the customers wanted wider aisles so they had to cut back on selection. Plus, I have noticed recently that WM is actually higher on some things than the small neighborhood grocery by me. So really, there's no good reason why I should have to shop there anymore. Target is just as close and just nicer overall. Every time I come out of WM, I use my pop-up anitbacterial wipes to de-Wal-Mart-ize myself.

I'm really interested in that Thanksgiving dressing recipe! Is it cornbread dressing? I love, love, love cornbread dressing and since my Mom died, it's been my assignment for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. It's not as good as hers, but it's getting a little better every year!

I hope your exhaustipation passes soon! ;)

Well now I'm not sure about the WM experience yesterday. It just was more than I could bear, all things combined. Usually I am good- but man yesterday all the crazies were out in full force.

And hush yo mouth you know it's cornbread. It's dressing isn't it???:rotfl2:

The secret lies in the cornbread. You have to have a good cornbread and I've yet to find one here where I live. Can you get Old South cornbread where you are? It used to be made by ballard-- I think someone bought them out. It's what makes it good. I bet your dressing is wonderful and you don't realize it.
My mama's is the best but last year my kids said mine was just as good. 'bought dang time.:lmao:

Girl I used to love to go to Kmart when I was little. I thought the blue light special was the THING. Once I got a killer pink satin jacket the year Grease came out and yes I was pretty dang sure I was a pink lady.:yay:

Your experience there- go get the sign... holy cow that was awful!!

Love all the dresses! Part of me is being tempted by you guys to wear dresses in August, but the other part of me is really worried about flashing people getting on rides and stuff, especially since I plan on doing all the thrill rides...

Well you said it yourself--they are THRILL rides- so give those poor saps waiting in line behind you something to talk about while they are miserable... wear the dresses! You will be forever changed. :lmao: And so will they!!:rotfl2:

WHEW! I think I'm all caught up now. :goodvibes

Okay so today my post is all about my new dresses!

I'm gonna post this and then I have to get ready to go... my Belle has been growing her hair out for a year and a half for Locks of Love. And today she is getting it all cut off.:lovestruc It was her idea to do it and I couldn't be more proud. (And sad a little too to see it all go away!)

And so without further ado.......

What dresses have I bought so far? I say so far because yes, as much as I am an overpacker, I also tend to be an over shopper. I am a self professed clothes horse.

For a few weeks as the winter drug itself into Spring, I went shopping every day. Every day! I had a routine. I knew what day the shipments came in at my local haunts. I have to be able to try things on, I hate buying for myself online. I want the total experience—the hunting thru the miles of clothes, the giddy feeling of walking to the dressing room with twenty things in my cart, the excitement when I find one thing out of the twenty to buy… the absolute fantastic feeling I get when I purchase it. And then the terror that comes as soon as I get to the house and think oh crap where can I hide this for a month until it’s been long enough to say “what??? This old thing? I’ve had it for over a month” when asked. :rotfl:
Don’t laugh you know you’ve done it too.

So here, some of the dresses I plan to take. The rest are still out there, waiting for me to buy. Which I plan to asap!

I was just talking to DH last night about clothes and the trip and he looked at me and sad -- yes, you are kind of high maintenance aren't you? :scared1::rotfl: I said -- have you been reading mine and Jodi's PTR???

I got the boys several shirts and DS9 got a pair of swim trunks with Mario Bros on them. They just got that game for the Wii!

Let's see- what I got at WM was a man checking me out at the register wanting to know where I go to church and if I was going to Wed nite service.:banana::banana::banana::banana:
I'm so glad you got it and we didn't have to go rough em up!:lmao: Did you fill it out? I haven't done mine yet!!!!!!!

I know, I was getting worried there for a minute!! :rotfl:

I am going to fill it out today!! :thumbsup2

Love all the new dresses!! :goodvibes Can't wait to see what else you get!

More Shopping.......

Well besides the dresses I have gotten some other new clothes for the trip. Lot's of tank tops and some other shirts and shorts. Most came from Kohl's & Penney's, and a few from Old Navy.

WOW ladies!! Where to begin?

Cute tops Shelly! I like the light green tee!

Is there such a thing as a comfortable heel?? If so, where are they? How high are you talking? Anything above 2" is dangerous to me!

Walmart - The Evil Empire. I hate it. Never go there unless I can't find something specific after looking at 100 other places. The place just attracts the crazies! Never had a good experience at a WM before. I'm from MN and we are loyal to Target, our hometown company. Plus now I live within 1/2 a mile from one. They pretty much know me by name there. If they don't have it, I don't need it.
When we're visiting MIL in Va, they only have WM in town and it's torture!

Okay - Jo - I am seeing a bit more color in your latest selections!! Like that brighter blue - very cute!!!

I pack with my kids. We have to try stuff on, since it's usually the opposite season (shorts in winter) and make sure they fit. Then I limit things and make sure they have undies too.
DH is on his own, although I do make him double check for undies - Shelly knows what I'm talking about! It's happened to us too, but not at WDW, so we could go to a (gasp) Walmart and buy some cheaper ones!
I pack all the necessities - toiletries. stuff on the packing list, etc. Again, DH is on his own. He's in charge of electronics. cameras, chargers...

Flats??? NEVER!!!!!!!!!!! You know I like to make myself feel tall by wearing heels!

Not for you...I meant for me! :upsidedow

Wow, Shelly, you're going to have to make your trip longer so you have time to wear all those clothes!
