Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

When I stuck my hand into the popcorn later in the dark theater, I came up with what would equate to three sticks of butter, all on my fingers and palm. The popcorn had mysteriously melted (gee, do ya’ think???) and all we were left with was butter and kernels and goop.
Now when we go past the theater, we giggle like two young girls and do the “pumping” motion.

This is HILARIOUS! Like snort and then laugh out loud funny. I love humor like that. :rotfl2:

Great stories and congratulations to you both upgrading to Club Level!

Did you hear that Ghiradelli's is coming to DCA? Can't wait for all that yummy chocolate and ice cream desserts! We always go to the one in DTD at WDW and have been to the original in San Francisco a few times. It is such a great place to visit.

Sea :cool1:

Hey girls!! congrats on the upgrades to CL!!!! I would loooove to do CL this trip, but I dont know if my dh is up for it!! Depends entirely on what discount we get.....

Congrats on getting a Ghirardelli's out there! :thumbsup2

Thanks Shawna! :)

Sounds like maybe you should surprise your DH with CL after all he's going through with his back!!

I hope he feels better soon. :flower3:

That butter story is so funny!! :lmao::rotfl2:

We've never gone to the movies there. Sure sounds like fun!

Never gone into Ghirardelli either. :confused3 There's always a huge line out the door and I have usually already eaten when we walk by there. But hey, maybe if I don't get enough *free* chocolates with my turndown service I will have to make a point to go to Ghirardelli for one! :rotfl:

I can't believe you don't enjoy DTD more! :upsidedow I know how much you LOVE to shop! I don't ever really buy a ton of stuff there, maybe just a few things for myself. The kids buy a ton!! I just love the atmosphere and looking at everything.

I'm sure we will both spend more time in the Lego store than we want to.:laughing:

The butter story was NOT funny when I had to get up to go wash off up to my pits right in the middle of the dang movie. But yes, now it's funny to us. :lmao:

You need to get Ghiradelli-- at least for the boys, they can eat chocolate anytime! I usually just walk in and right back out.

I think I don't spend a lot of time at DTD b/c anytime we've been it's been crowded. I must hit it on the wrong days. And the lego store? Forget it. It's always a fiasco with screaming kids. But I'm afraid you're right-- we will be there longer than either of us want to be this trip!:rolleyes1

I like to go to DTD on Monday's. It's never crowded. I think everyone is at MK on that day!! :rotfl:

I'll have to get into Ghirardelli this time. You remind me!! :thumbsup2

Well since we have been talking about DTD, maybe we should start talking about shopping for the trips! ::yes:: I might have gotten a few new clothes for the trip....:rolleyes1 How about you???

Anyone up for a fashion show? :yay: I promise to just show you pics of the clothes and not me in them.:laughing:

Congrats on the CL news! Never done that before so I'll be interested to read about it when you get back.

DTD... I tend to get overwhelmed there for some reason. There are just so many shops that I end up just wandering around and loosing focus of what I want to do. In fact we've been there twice and I don't think I have ever bought anything. :confused3 There's just so much to look at and I keep thinking, "Well, I'll keep that in mind, but I want to see what else is here before I decide what I want." Then, by the time I've been in 5 stores, I can't remember what I wanted or what I saw where. I know, I have issues. :rolleyes1

When we go there we LOVE eating at WGP Express!!! YUM! It is such a great value on the DDP, and the food is wonderful. We always try to eat a counter service meal there on each trip. And I agree that a stop at Ghirardelli's is a must! :cloud9:

Your popcorn story sounds just like my DH. He always asks for butter in the middle and on top. :scared: I don't get it either! I always tell the cashier at the theater that he would like a little popcorn with his butter.

::yes:: I think DTD is a bit overwhelming to me too! I can't believe it but it's true! I always get lost there. I never know what I'm doing.
But I DO know where to get chocolate!:rotfl:

Butter makes me gag on popcorn. yuck. A little of it goes a heck of a long way with me!
That makes sense about being close to the CL lounge when you are at the pool. :thumbsup2 I read about Poly CL on the links Shelly posted. It sounds really great! I'll have to take a look at the GF CL, too. I see from some of your posts that there is more than one CL level. (I guess at the Poly, also) Brain overload! I don't know how y'all navigate all the ins and outs of Disney trip planning. :faint:

Those stories about your Mom and Dad are so funny! It also explains a lot about you - we know where you get your sense of humor from!

Cell phones have made such a change in how we parent as opposed to when we were the kids. Back then, our parents probably didn't know half of what we were up to. (not that I was ever up to something ). We couldn't just call them any minute we needed them. Just like yesterday with my DD. She would have had to find some other way of solving her problem instead of calling Mom. We have a direct line to our kids 24/7 now, whether we want it or not! It makes parenting easier in some ways, but sometimes I might like to be in the dark! :rotfl2:

Yesterday's walk was very hot, but I had my frozen water bottle (I saw where you plan on doing that-definitely do!) and a towel to wipe off the glisten. ;) It really wasn't too bad; I know I'm going to be hot and I don't fight it! But today was in the mall. I'm not a masochist!

I have been outside all day today but I'm under the shade with my computer and not out in the sun. Trying to stay outside to get used to the weather. Your frozen water is a definite must for my trip. You're smart to have walked in the mall today! Yikes!

As far as the CL--after looking at all the pics I have of the various lounges- I think Shelly is going to be super pleased with her choice! At the GF- there are two CL's. The one I'm in is cheaper than the other one, in the main bldg. I just don't think I could swing that one!

Cell phones---- I love them and hate them at the same time. We just got Belle one- actually I got a new Iphone and Drew inherited my old phone so she got his. I feel better knowing what they are doing, but I HATE when the bill comes. MC has already lost texting on her phone many times from too many. But yeah-- kids rely on parents so much more nowadays. My DH says kids these days are soft!!:rotfl2:

This is HILARIOUS! Like snort and then laugh out loud funny. I love humor like that. :rotfl2:

Aww, thanks. :flower3:

Shawna- I agree with Shelly--- upgrade to CL for that poor man. They'll treat him good. Hope he feels better soon.
Snort and laugh out loud!!! :lmao::rotfl2: Jodi has that effect on people!

:rotfl: I have been a little boring....er....reserved so far in this PTR I think.:rolleyes1

Okay I'll remind you of the chocolate. I might have to see if we can get to DTD on Monday-- that would be LD. I wonder if it would make a difference.

I might have bought a few things-- not nearly as many as you though! You know I put off shopping until two days before the trip....
:rolleyes1 so my shopping posts might have to be sporadically entertwined throughout the wait.:rotfl2:

IDK what DTD would be like on LD. It might actually be a good day to go. Everyone might be at the parks!

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll catch up to me (and pass me :rotfl:) on the shopping soon enough. But you know me, no time to waste and no procrastinating!! I started shopping for this trip back in December.

Good morning! :)
DS9 assured me that he would eat enough snacks to make it worth my money.:lmao:

Of course he did!
I debated up and down about CL for our honeymoon, but ultimately my good sense won out. We're hoping to stay at the WL on our next trip, so I might do a split with CL. I dunno. Maybe we'll do part of the trip at SoG or a Mod to offset some of the cost.

It's exciting that you both booked CL! I can't wait to read the TR.

It was a revolting display of butteration.
:lmao:

Congrats to both of you on the CL upgrade!!! Someday I would love to do that!!

Jo - I love your story about ending up in Georgia and what your mom said!

Ghiradelli - the line for the free sample moves quickly. It's the other line that is so long. Shelly - you must go get some!!!

Shawna - sorry to hear about Mike's back. CL might just be the cure!!

Good Morning All

Jo -

I enjoy a trip to DTD, although I have never been to the Movies there or Ghiradeli's. I wanted to stop in there last time were were at DTD but just like everything else during Spring Break DTD was wall to wall people(we went on a Monday evening too, Shelly )
I go for the World of Disney Store
Planet Hollywood use to be one of our favorite spots to eat, love the La Lasagna

Your story about the butter was too funny, I love butter and I have done that at home, the popcorn just sorta disinegrates :rotfl:

I had a good laugh about your father having to go to get you in Georgia. DH had to head down to NY once to pick up my 2 DS at Yankee Stadium at like 1-2 in the morning, those "idiots" parked in a tow away zone had spent all there money or most of it and could not pay to get the car back or even get a taxi to the inpound lot. The joys of parenthood :lmao:

Yes, the kid who eats pretty much nothing is going to make sure I get my money's worth!!:rotfl:

That's what I figure, half the trip is at a mod with free dining. So that offsets the cost a bit!!

Congrats to both of you on the CL upgrade!!! Someday I would love to do that!!

Okay, okay!! :yay: You guys have convinced me to go to Ghirardelli this time!! :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone! :goodvibes

Well since our last topic was DTD, I guess we will go right to the shopping! I have done plenty of clothes shopping for this trip!

I have read on here a few times to wear sundresses at WDW in the summer and it is much cooler and more comfortable than the usual shorts & shirt outfits. And much easier to pack & take up less room in the luggage. At first I thought – I really don't see me climbing into RNRC with a dress on! :scared1: But the more I thought about it the more I liked the idea (the idea of sundresses, not necessarily wearing one on RNRC !! :rotfl: ) So, I started shopping for them shortly after Christmas. And I might have gotten a few..... :rolleyes1 I shopped online, I shopped in stores, I shopped the sales, I shopped the clearances!! And I only paid $5 - $18 for each of these dresses. :cool1: Most of them came from Kohl's and Old Navy, but I did get 2 at WalMart.

I think I have more dresses than I have days in Disney!!! :upsidedow

Shelly - Your new sundresses are so cute. I wish I had not put many extra pounds............sigh

It would seem that dresses might be cooler in the heat at Disney but I have never worn them, why I never thought about it back when we went in August is beyond me

I counted 13 dresses, now I am wondering does that mean 13 pairs of shoes? :rotfl: The shoes will make up for the space you save packing dresses for sure ;)

Thanks Sheila! :goodvibes I would have never thought about it either, but I read it in a few TR's and then Jodi tried it out last May and said it's true!!

13!! Yep, I do have more dresses than days in Disney. :headache::laughing: Shoes. We will get to the shoes soon enough! :upsidedow No, I don't think I have 13 I want to take, but maybe close to it! :lmao:

Morning girls!

Shelly-- my goodness girl I knew you had a lot of dresses but that's a LOT! Wooo hooooooo love it!!:cool1:
When I said you had to buy them it didn't take you long to get right to it.:lmao: I'm glad you took me so seriously.:rotfl2:
You should take them all for sure-- that way if you want to you can change twice a day. I do. ::yes:: Esp in the heat- you'll use them all I bet.

I love all of those dresses! My fave I think is the striped one. But I like them all! Do you have a favorite?

Okay well, my first shopping post isn't a shopping post but more of a "my experience in the heat last May and what I have already" post.:goodvibes

Wow, you weren't kidding when you said you did a little shopping! :rotfl: I don't blame you though. Anything you can do to stay cool is a must. And I love them all. I can even imagine which ones you will wear to which park. I think the brown/black one would be great for AK. And the ones with the tropical look will be perfect when you are staying at the Poly (or CBR for that matter). They are all cute though. I really like the pink paisley one, and the plaid. I so wish I could wear stuff like that. I used to... many years (and pounds) ago. Boy do I need to get back on my diet!

Dresses and shorts and capri’s and skorts and T’s and Tanks and flip flops and sandals and heels.

Did I forget anything? :faint:

Last May on our trip to WDW, I had the above items. All of them. All together, all mushed into one bursting at the seams carry on.

They say the first step towards healing is admitting your problem, right?
Hi. I'm Jo and I’m a notorious overpacker.

Ouch.
That. HURT.:sad2:

When we used to be able to take as many suitcases as we wanted to on trips, I’d carry it all. One suitcase for makeup. (And yes it was full.) One for shoes. One for accessories/hair products. Two for clothes. And that was just my stuff. I guess I am what some people refer to as “High Maintenance.” (As if that’s a bad thing?????) Add in a few babies and it triples and quadruples. The last Christmas trip we took we had 12 huge duffel bags coming off of the conveyer belt at the airport.
Yes I said 12.
For 5 people. And we shipped a lot of stuff home that year. :faint:

This past May, I decided I was not going to do it anymore. I was going to pare it down so much that I’d be begging for new clothes while on the trip. So I packed and unpacked. Packed and repacked. I bought stuff for months, not sure what I wanted to take.

In the end it was what I wrote above: Dresses, shorts, Capri’s, skorts, T’s and tanks. I was giddy as I zipped it up with one tiny inch to spare. I threw in a magazine just to take care of that extra space. ;)

When we got there, you know what I wore? DRESSES!!! That is it! Nothing ever came out of my bag that wasn’t a dress. I felt so liberated.
If you haven’t discovered the mind blowing sensation of cool air on your legs while everyone else is sweating in pants or shorts, I highly recommend the dress scene. You walk around with a smile on your face like you have some huge secret. People in line with you for the roller coasters smile b/c you flash them as you climb into the seat. I kid, I kid. I don’t think I flashed one person on my last trip. I’m hoping for the same results this time around. ;)

So without further ado, let’s see what dresses I had already that I plan to take with me!

Next post?? New dresses!!! :yay: (But not as many as Shelly...:worship: )

Hey ladies! I'm very late to the party but I have an excuse.....I've been to Walt Disney World! And, ahem, I'm in the stages of planning next year's trip. :rolleyes1

I've read through the plans and have promptly forgotten almost everything I wanted to comment on. I choose to blame that on my suffering from a head cold and being hopped up on sinus meds. and not due to old age. :rotfl:

I do remember that I wanted to say  on you both booking CL! I can't wait to see how you two liked it.

Oh and as far as wearing dresses in Disney goes, they really are much cooler. I took a couple this trip and it was so nice.

Hopefully, I can keep up with you two now that I'm caught up.
