Clochette nordique & Bolebrothers, WDW neewbies! How exciting! And staying at the Polynesian to boot! It doesn't get any better than that IMHO. You'll be on :cloud9:.
Three things that should not be missed: Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe, Dole Whip (float) at CC or MK, and Soarin' in Epcot FW, by far the coolest thing I have ever done (and I have terrible Acrophobia!)

HI and thank you for that! I saw some pictures of the Poly in the late 70´s when visiting family in Wisconsin, and the image have been stuck with me ever since. So when we decided to go, we had a look at he options, all four of us, and the vote fell on the Poly, so we are all very exited now. With airfare from Oslo to Orlando, and going in end of easter paying rack rate the price is also of another world, but is something we could do now and are happy with our choices. We choose CL because of the location and the IPO and have a laid back nature to stuff going in, so I am sure we will have a wonderful time no matter what. We are looking at a traveltime of close to 23 hours from we leave home to we arrive at the Poly so my guess is we will be to beat to get to se wishes on the first night  And arriving late at 8PM I just hope our request for a 3rd floor room can be met.
Let us hope more people catch on this thread and post their dates, always fun to se who is going, and guessing who is who when we are there.

Me, (48), DW (45), DS (18 Asperger on the spectrum) and DD (7)

Thanks for the welcoming words. My wish for a trip to the Poly is 44 years old. (Yeah, bit older than Disney...) I was 5 when I heard about someone coming back from Disney and a wee bit older when I saw the Disney pools. Yes, the pools were the first attractions for me more than 5 years ago when I decided to put $200 a month away for 5 years to go to Disney with DD11 who (also) lives on the spectrum. Since she also lives with Cerebral Palsy, I knew we had to be on the monorail. Poly was the only choice since I don't really care for GF and my cousin always stays at the Contemp never succeded to sell me this resort.

I also dreamt of a cruise, so we will cruise on the Dream embarking on Mother's Day, after a Bfast at Chief Mickey. Our TA got all our choices for ADRs, including the Castle on the morning of May 2nd, 'Ohana for diner on wed May 4, and Narcoossess's, Coral Reef, Marrakesh, Crustal Palace, 1900 Parkfare, 50's Prime Time, Boma and Sci-Fi. DD will be enchanted! I just want to see her face, when she realizes what is really, going on.

I came to the BOARDS since I was looking for help to travel with DD and her 7 different diagnosis. I heard about the Disney magic and hope it will operate with her too.

:welcome: aboard! Looks like we won't be getting to the Poly until 2 days after you leave. It's coming fast though. I paid off our packages this week-end (early) because my Giant Eagle had double fuel perks on Disney gift cards. I now have enough fuel perks for 5 or 6 free tanks of gas (or less if the idiots in the Middle East don't settle down soon) and DD one or 2! All that PLUS cash back for using my cc. And until last week, I never even THOUGHT of using gift cards! Duh!

We have done the luau 3 different time, but not this trip. We loved it, but having a vegan with us this time, we decided to skip it. We had heard good things about Chef TJ at Ohana and his amazing vegan dishes, but since he's moved to the GF ...... I thought it might be a little loud & wild for my crew which consists of Moi, DH, DD#1 (33) & her BF, & DD#2 (30) & her B. If I locate any pictures when I'm on my other computer, I will post some. Food was delish, show was corny, fire twirlers amazing!

Glad to have you with us. :grouphug:

Your plans sound wonderful! Yes, that's a long time wishing for a magical vacation to WDW! I'm so glad your wish is finally coming true. And I send :tinker:Poussière de fée! that your sweet DD will feel the magic as well. The thought of her enchantment brings a tear to my eye.

The Polynesian is the only resort we have ever stayed at or ever WANT to stay at (except if we ever go to see the Christmas decorations. Just not feeling a Hawiian Holiday!) Even DH loves it, especially being on the monorail. The sights, the sounds, the smells. It doesn't get any better than the Poly.

Yes, the pools are amazing though I'm a bit worried over the rehab of the quiet (east) pool at the Poly. We like that pool because it IS quieter and has(had) a deep end that DDs can swim in. Hopefully it will still be quiet late at night when they like to go. We also head to a water park every trip. This year will be my first time at Blizzard Beach. :cool1:

Your ADR choices are great! We've eaten at most of the places you chose, our favourites being Sci Fi, Narcoossess's, Coral Reef & Marrakesh. Make sure you watch the group that plays outside of Morocco. They're called "Mo Rockin'" and are amazing! I own 2 of their CD's. We also are trying Le Cellier (best steak EVER according to DD#2 who ate there in 2008), Chefs de France, Tusker House, Via Napoli and Captain's Grill this trip in addition to repeat meals at Sci Fi & Kona Cafe for Tonga Toast.

It's all starting to feel real as I was able to pay off the trip (early) this week-end. I'm ready to start packing!

So enjoy all the planning & anticipation. I always say it's all part of the magic of a Disney World trip!

This will be my first stay at the Poly!
May 10-17!
I have been dreaming of staying here ever since we went to 'Ohana a few years ago.

We made reservations at Ohana this time, but later decided my family would not enjoy all the coconut races, parades and whatever else goes on. We changed to a quieter place (Captain's Grill at the Yacht Club) and I don't think we'll be sorry. We have done the luau 3 times and loved it. Also love Kona cafe & the Tonga Toast!

I cannot imagine having to travel 23 hours to get ANYwhere , let alone my favorite place in the world. Our flight is only 2 hours and 13 minutes and I think THAT's too long! haha Living so close, we take the earliest flight in & the last flight out, making good use of all the park time we can get!
I think you will absolutely love the Polynesian and CL is the way to go for you being so far away. With the IPO handling your ADRs you're sure to get what you want. (Where DO you want?) We love our meal times and with 6 adults, want more food than CL offerings. So for us is not worth the difference in price. We have stayed in Figi twice, marina view the best, but we are not requesting anything but balcony this time, leaving the rest up to the Tiki gods.

If you can, (and your DS can handle it) please try to watch Wishes from inside MK, not just on the Poly beach. We watched it sitting on the Poly boat dock and it was WAY too far. I'm looking forward to seeing them up close this trip.

Make sure you get your "First Time Visitor" badges when you check in. They make great souvenirs. Last trip I wore a Happy Birthday badge (I am many years past being a child) and it was wonderful getting BD wished from all the cast members and some guests, too! I will get a Happy Anniversary badge this trip since we are celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary!

I am happy to see a few more people joining our little thread, too. Looks like, so far, my crew will be the only ones at the Poly May 19-25Th! haha! Wouldn't THAT be something?

Well, thank you for those kind words. Pretty much any travel from here is time consuming, so as long as we plan it out, it is not much of a hassle, the drawback is that 2 whole days of the vacation goes to travel, but that is just how things are...
I have researched a bit into restaurants and the IPO has been able to get us what we want, if it is a good list I really dont know, but there has to be a first for everything i guess. :)

This is the list we settled for. (I know a couple of them are not on the DDP) but we wanted to try them, and also with some of them being 2 credits there is bound to be some OOP in there, but less than increasing to the DxDP as far as I have been able to do the math on. Time will show....
One reason for doing CL was that they do breakfast, here in Europe most hotels and even in Disneyland Paris, breakfast is always included, so that was news to us when we found out no brekkie was included when we started looking into this. But it made room for some character breakfast reservations at Ohana.

Narcoossee's
Ohana
Chefs de France
Coral Reef
Jiko – The Cooking Place
Brown Derby Fantasmic!
Cinderella's Royal Table
Hollywood & Vine Char Dining
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Flying Fish Cafe - Chef's Tasting Wine Dinner
Tokyo Dining
Hacienda de San Angel
California Grill
La Cellier Steakhouse
Bistro de Paris
Fultons Crab House
Teppan Edo
Kona Cafe

We aren't dining at 'Ohana this time either. My dd who is 10 will be with us, but that is just too much meat for my liking ;) I am having a time narrowing my dining down. We have never tried the Luau and would love too! Kona is for sure on our list. I love that place!

I (or someone in my family) has eaten at the places I put in bold letters. DH & I haven't been there, but DD#2 said Le Cellier was the best steak she has EVER had, including the $80 one in NYC. That's why we are all going there this time. There are none that you picked I would not go to, many I would like to, especially California Grill & back to Narcoosees. Too many great restaurants, not enough meals to try them all!!
All this talk of WDW food is making the hamburgers we're having for dinner sound pretty boring!

I'll also be there May 19-25... but I think you already knew that, huh rcsilverspring (Mom!)? :lmao:

So excited for this "1 year after surgery trip" AND that I'll be celebrating my 10 year anniversary while we're there! I was thinking about NOT wearing an anniversary button since the DBF and I aren't officially married, but I think it still counts and that we deserve some Disney  too!

I can't wait to wander around the Poly at night when the torches are lit... and I hope I can actually go down the volcano slide this time! I'd also love to get a Dole Whip either at CC or MK (I still can't believe the Dole Whip machine at CC was broken the whole time were were there last trip!).

Getting more and more excited every day! :yay:

I think you should still get an anniversary button, even if you don't wear it, it's a great souvenir.
I'm so glad I have you to share my excitement with every day. Though your Dad loves our trips to WDW, he just doesn't understand. :confused3

Hi we are staying at the Poly for the first time May 21-28. I am requesting Tokelau unless I can get a god deal on GV CL at check in.

Hey I see you are from Pittsburgh... so are we! We are driving down... Dh thinks the kids are too young to fly.

Our DDs were 8 & 11 the first time we flew to WDW. Good luck with the driving!
And we are from Jefferson Hills, south of Pittsburgh. You?
