Who's going September 2008?

We have Mama Melrose's as part of the Fantasmic Dinner Package. I will be sure to let you know how it is. We will be down there with my parents, my sister and her husband, my brother, his girlfriend and their 1 year old son. As you saw we are staying at POR and the rest of the family is staying at POP and AllStar Sports. We are spoiled!

LOL! I know what you mean! We were thinking of trying Pop this year to save a little on the budget but we could not bring ourselves to do it. POR is just HOME! I never feel too crowded there.. it is so peaceful which is nice when you are in the crazy parks all day long..haha

We are taking ds5 but not ds1. He just does not like being in the heat and all and dh hates dealing with the stroller while we are there since there are so many places you can't take them..haha SOOO, he gets to stay with his grandma. I am going to miss him though. I feel so guilty not taking him.

What day are you all doing tha 1900 breakfast? We are looking forward to the characters there. I love Mad Hatter!!! :rotfl:

Why on earth did my last post go behind the list instead of to the end of it? :rotfl:

I don't get it..now this one is in the wrong spot.. I think that Mad Hatter is messing with me..haha

One should never have to &#(*^@_($#&$(*^@ at Disney ::yes::
Honestly, I lied to my friend and told him that I probably wasn't going... I just couldnt' stomach the idea of spending a week with someone who refers to my 2nd religion as the "*$#(&^@#mouse." :thumbsup2

We are eating at 1900 Park Fare on Thursday the 18th. That is our open day (yes, I have our days mapped out for the most part). My brother, brother-in-law and I are golfing in the afternoon so I wanted a nice big breakfast. What day are you going?

My 1 year old nephew who will be with us lives in Florida so he is well adjusted to the heat. What part of NC are you from? We have friends near Raleigh and visit them each year. We love it down there.

Only 61d:15h:2m:6s until our 11:45PM departure for Disneyworld on 08/29/2008. :rotfl2:

I've read in a few places that there's been issues before with placing a couple of two in AB in Riverside -- anybody actually experienced requesting AB but not getting it because of the small party size?

We're there the first week of September so I don't see it being crazy busy. :confused3

Yes, I had that problem last year. I requested ground floor in AB. Upon arrival the cm stated that they could accomodate the ground floor request but that they had nothing available for 2 guests in AB. However, this turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we loved the feeling of Old-south royalty as we walked to and from our Oak Manor Mansion ;)

I know most people prefer AB, but the entire grounds are just stunning and I would honestly be happy to stay in either in the future.

I totally agree! We won't stay anywhere else but in one of the mansions. It may seem like a long walk to the main bulding, but it really isn't. Plus you can take advantage of the additional bus stops over that way.

though had done this - but didn't see my name

Sept 5- 12 - SSR - me
Sept 12-13 - AKV -me
Sept 13-19 Pop - me or family (free dinning)!
sept 14-19 OKW - me or family

thanks!

I mean we are AT WDW so I wouldn't be upset to be in the mansions and it's not really the distance it's just more our style being outdoorsy people. Anyways I'll wish upon those stars each night for AB but I'll take whatever comes my way and have a blast either way! :woohoo:

I think our biggest concern will be the humidity ;)

Well, with it being a "slow" time, I doubt you will have a problem. The best way to approach it is to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. But like you said, you are AT WDW, so it's really a win-win.

I guess I aught actually give my dates and location :) It will be awesome to celebrate both an anniversary and birthday there!

PORS
Aug 31-Sept 9

I CAN`T WAIT! My hubby is excited too but I hope I don`t drive him batty between now and then. heheehe We are practising getting used to the heat - humidity by trying to last as long as we can in the car without either opening the windows or turning on the air conditioner :lmao: We keep on reminding ourselves `This is what it will feel like` :rotfl:

We were there 9/2 - 9/9 of 2007. It was a bit crowded on the Sunday before Labor Day, but starting on Monday, the crowds were very light for Disney.

I agree the the mansions at POR are beautiful. For us, I guess it was just more of the "feel" of the AB section. The first time I assumed we would stay in the mansions. When dh saw pics though he was all for AB. So I requested it and we got an awesome room and loved it. The log beds and quilts, etc... it just gave it that NON hotel feel we thought..kinda like a log cabin which we love so we were hooked. We have thought about trying the mansions but we feel so at home coming back to ab section at night. We also like the short walk..it honestly does look like the mansions are so far away and we go to the mill and fultons A LOT so we want to be as close as possible to it..:rotfl:

We were actually tempted to try french quarter this year but we could not do it..lol I swear we are hooked. My one drawback to riverside is the bus service. It has been TERRIBLE the past couple of years. We waited an hour for a bus last year to the MK when every other bus came through 3-4 times each. We were sure a mad group of people. ;) Then leaving Epcot one night all the other lines were empty or close to it at the bus stops...except riverside which had about 300 people in line. It took an hour and half to finally get us onto a bus and back to the hotel. It was always crazy like that. I guess it shows how much I love it there though.. I still go back..:thumbsup2 I am hopng they have worked ont he bus service since then though! :scared1:

We will be staying at the Polynesian Sept 21st- October 5th on our Honeymoon! To Racing Wench we would also like to meet fellow DIS users while we are there!:earsboy:

Yeah I've heard numerous grumblings about the bus service but we decided the moderates were the class of hotel we wanted to stay at -- and of all of them PO were the ones that we were drawn to the most. The last time we were there we stayed at FQ; we wanted to try Riverside -- Initially I was in the same boat thinking the mansions were so cool until I saw the interiors of AB and we were hooked at hoping to stay there! We'll take whatever room we can get in AB but our agent did request building 14 or 18 for us *cross fingers* when we booked and I'll send a friendly reminder fax a few days before we leave. :genie:

WOOOOO HOOOOO Post 500 of this thread!!!!:goodvibes

You are right POR Rocks!!! We love it there, our all time favorite resort...we love the boat ride to DTD!!

Re: Busses -Why not rent a car for your trip?? We rent with Alamo....we can get a compact for $100 for the week....no lines for busses!!! Saves a lot time and it is so nice at the end of a long day to go to the car get in the air condtioning and be back to POR in 10-15 min. Instead of the 60-90 min. wait then ride on a hot, not so pleasant smelling bus!!!

The magical express is a nice option but if you do prepay with Alamo you can be out of the airport and on to the world in 20 minutes after picking up your luggage......IMO its well worth the $100!!
