Who's Going Oct 09? Plans Are...

What I recommend is that you purchase Birnbaum's Walt Disney World 2008/9 when it comes out. It is an upbeat critique on what is there and popular. I have it and will get the new one when it comes out.

If you loooove to read and have the time, well you have a year, hehe, get The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. It is super thick and has every ride rating for every age group and every restaurant and hotel. I did this and got soooo much info. it gave me a start to what I was interested in seeing and doing and EATING. I loooove this book.

Let me know if this is possible and we can go from there. A lot has changed since you have been. You will love it and feel so great with the info you have under your belt. It can and is overwhelming, but it is also magical if you are able to accomplish a few things you wouuld like to do.

In these books it will tell you the cannot miss rides for your little ones like Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Small World...
Too scary for some is Snow White. My 5 year old wouldn't do it because of the witch/old hagg is there in the dark...

Anyway, sit back and relax and we can take it park by park. You will make your trip magical. Just know that you do not have to see and do everything this time around. If you know that you will have a much more relaxing time.

No stress, not worries. Akuna matada!

In addition to the two books mickey2minnie1 suggested, also take a look at the Passporter. I found it extremely helpful for our first family trip in 2003 (the last time DH and I were in WDW was 1987 :scared1: so everything had really changed). Without reading the books and these boards I don't think our trip would have been as much fun as we went for 18 days at Christmas/New Years time.

If you not sure you want to buy the book, take a look at your local library. Mine had Birnbaum's and the Unoffical Guide.

Thanks.
I have been talking to friends that had reciently gone and others who are also planning now. :)

I just booked my room today at the Pop for 10/25-11/03!!! Yippee!!!! This is going to be the first time that my boyfriend and I go to Disney World so we are excited. Here is what I have planned so far:

1. Going to make a reservation for lunch at the Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater evenutally.

2. Going to go to MNSSHP twice while there and dress up for it.

Um...that's it so far! LOL We are not going to buy a dining plan because him and I have really strange eating habits. We tend to snack more than eat full meals. Also, we are going to be driving since we only live about 8 hours away.:wizard:

Thank you for sharing! I am hoping to be there around the 24-31st. We want to do MNSSHP as well. Not sure of the night yet. Keep us posted with any additional news.

Who: DDad, DMom, DH, Me, DBro, DSIL

What: Dad-funded WDW Trip

Where: WDW, of course! Resort still TBD, but we're considering CR and POR

When: October 15-20, 2009 (six days/five nights*)

Why: Because, in Dad's words, "I want all of us to go there together before I'm too darned old to enjoy it!"

How: *Here's where the asterisk comes into play. If airfares remain "similar" this year to next, it will be cheaper for DH and I to fly out of our airport on October 14th, use my hotel points to stay over near the airport, and then join the rest of the crew that flies in first thing the morning of the 15th. If that's the case, DH and I will arrive in Orlando mid-afternoon on 10/14 and probably do Cirque that night. The rest of the family will take the first N/S flight from Baltimore the next morning, we'll head back to the airport to meet them, and then we'll all take the ME to our resort.

Must See: MNSSHP, Spaceship Earth (it was closed when DH and I were there last year), Big Thunder Mountain (ditto, plus the last time Dad and I rode it together in 1981, it broke down...gotta finish that ride together!), Soarin' (I just know Mom is going to love it!), POTC (we're all huge fans of the movies)

Must Eat: Le Cellier, Wolfgang Puck's, Brown Derby (there is no better Cobb Salad anywhere!)

Only 436 days to go! :rotfl:

How lucky are you??? Sounds fantastic!!

I think I have 445 days...:woohoo: How will we wait that long!!!!

Heartbreaker moment today (since the kids know nothing of the trip yet).

Got a mailing from the Disney Visa today, on the front of the envelope is a picture from the MNSSHP with a big mickey shaped jack-o-lantern. DD8 found it on the table and said, "I want to go to this party. I'll never get to to because of school." It was hard to keep from telling her that she just has to wait a year. She was very distraught thinking that she would never get to go to the Halloween party.

Little does she know!!!!

Fun! Keep us posted when you have the details.:dance3:

This will be fun with all of us keeping in touch and seeing how large our community grows over the next year.:yay:

Got a quote from MV. I still havn't booked yet.

I know we want to stay at the Poly, but I havn't decided about the DDP and splurging with Club Level.:scared1:

If I could get a code, I would do it, but not so sure with things anymore.

My parents have decided to try and go with us again.:yay: I have saved and want to do CL for them as a suprise, but I know that they want to do the DDP. I was thinking of paying OOP for some meals to balance, but then they would know. Only real option is to do both which I think would be overkill.

I'm with all of you! I'm planning our first trip with my 2 kids, my mom, her husband, and my stepsisters. We need to book soon! Here's what I'm looking at:

10/28/09-11/03/09
POFQ
DDP

Yay!

Sarah

I haven't booked yet either. But we are planning October 30th through November 3rd. Can I still join in the fun?:)

There will be 13 of us and my grandmother, despite our objections, has decided to spend part of my Mom's and Aunt's inheritance and splurge for us to stay at the Poly!!!

I got my quote from MV too. What are your dates? Lisa has group discounts for the Poly, but the terms and conditions are pretty strict. It's also not a Disney MYW package so no DDP. But she saved us over $400.

It's good to know I'm not the only one planning where I'll be eating 14 months from now!
