I haven't read much about this. I made reservations...is it worth it?

My friend did the Hoop Dee Doo Review and contrary to what most seem to say, though it overpriced and not worth it.

So what's the verdict on the barbecue???

When do you have reservations for it? I've been calling for a month and can't get it. The CMs all tell that any dates for 2003 do not show up in their computer and to call back at the end of March. I saw that you can book I believe 1 year in advance but can't seem to get anywhere with disney dining! We want to go in May. When did you call and when are you going? Looks like I will be calling yet again tomorrow for it! I haven't done this meal and it is the only character meal we haven't tried in WDW. We are looking forward to it. We have done the HDDR and thought it was a lot of fun and worth every cent. My 3 y/o loved it and had a great time. The food was good and the show was funny.

Hi Terry, someone is giving you the wrong info. I made reservations about a month ago for August 2003, so call again and make them tell you what's going on!!

Good luck....

GF, her DH and 2 DD (4&8) went last October
(book 1 yr in advance s/b possible).
Food was good and plentiful, tons of character
interaction-they sign autographs and line dance
with everyone (they teach you how), but it can tend
to be verrry crowded.
Lively atmosphere
No more expensive than a dinner theater (alcoholic
beverages are included in the price). Considering the cost
of things at WDW this was good value for $).

We did it two years ago at Christmas and it was lots of fun. It is all served Buffet style. You get into the big hall with all the hay, and there are tables with corn on the cob, baked beans, bbq ribs and I can't remember what else. There are drinks and unlimited beer. Then at the end there are huge cakes. It is basically get up and serve yourself. There were lots of characters and the kids had a blast dancing with the cast members and the characters.

They are now 10 and 12 and are asking if we are going to do it again on this upcoming trip. I'll have to see what our schedule is to make reservations.

It is worth the money.

Anyone know if they have this in Feb. or just the summer months? Which characters appear? Is there just one seating or different time to choose from? Thanks for your help!

Thanks! I did call this morning and got PSs for it. I can't believe what I went through to get them! I first called before the new year and couldn't get them as they said they didn't have the new year in the computer yet. I told them that this meal is supposed to be able to be booked 2 years in advance! So I called many times in the last month and every time was told that it wasn't in their system and they thought maybe it was canceled. I must have talked to 10 different CMs! Well I'm glad I saw your post and finally got ahold of someone that knew what was going on. At least when you book they don't assign seats like they do for the HDDR. At the BBQ it is first come, first seated. Remember that and get there early if you want a good seat. Thanks again!:D

I tried to book the BBQ in early January for December 2003. They told me that the dates weren't out yet. The CM also told me that they were having to cancel a bunch of BBQ dates in December 2002 and January 2003 due to the very cold weather:confused:

I was very disappointed. We decided to go to HDD instead, but it is much more expensive. Taking a family trip with MIL, FIL, SIL, BIL and nephew along with DH and DS. I figure the extended family will have heart failure when I let them know how much they need to give me for the HDD:eek:

At Fort Wilderness, not too far from HDDR.

Does anyone know the dates for Mickey's Backyard BBQ? We will be there 2nd week in March. Is it too late for P/S?
